  • Best places for employer to find good telecommunications resumes (Boston/Worchester area)?

I'm doing some looking for my boss because we are trying to find a field technician in the Boston or Worcester MA area and cannot find any qualified ones. So far most resumes on Monster or craigslist seem to be computer/IT people or behind a desk type support people. We are looking for a tech to be in the field installing internet and VoIP service for businesses and working in ILEC CO's in a CLEC collocation environment. We are trying to find the perfect candidate before approaching HR as it will be an easy sell that way, which means we can't post the job on any boards quite yet, at least not the national ones like Monster, CareerBuilder, or HotJobs. Any ideas where to find resumes/candidates?

  • Culturally diverse Christian church in Manchester, NH?

HI, My family is looking for a non denominational, Baptist, UCC, or similar Christian church in Manchester, NH. We would like it to be culturally/racially diverse just as our family is. We're also looking for one with a children's ministry that breaks kids out in different age groups from toddler on up for Sunday School.

Any suggestions? (Please don't criticize our choices, we are just looking for help from local people as we are new to the area.)

  • What can the nursing home or medicaid do? Unfair spouse allocation.?

My dad is in a nursing home and has been for a year. My mom is the sole owner of the house - they changed that about 4 years ago. They have no assets and he is on medicaid. For the last year, the family has depleted his 401k money to pay the amount the home believes is what my mother's contribution to his care should be. Come January, that money is gone.

They only allocate enough money for part of the mortgage, utilities, insurance, and her prescriptions. Everything else she is on her own and they want the rest of his pension, 401k, and social security. If she pays what they want her to pay she would be in the hole $250 every single month and would have to live on ramen noodles and toast. She would not be able to afford to go to the doctor, buy any clothes or medicine, and wouldn't have a dime to put towards savings for an emergency. And thats with my family living here and paying half the bills. If we moved out, she would be about 1400 in the hole monthly.

If she doesn't pay the home, what happens? The family has no money or assets or anything to help, and medicaid increases her spousal obligation every year.

What will they do if she doesn't pay? Will the home kick him out if he is not physically able to be in a residence (in a wheel chair, late stage alzheimers, needs round the clock care)?

  • for parents - How long to allow on internet for a 14 yr old?

HI - I asked this before and got a lot of 14 yr olds who answered, which some were appreciated - but I'm looking for answers from parents on this one please.

My step daughter is visiting for the summer and she mainly isn't very outdoorsy. She doesn't know any kids her age here as she is only here for the summer and refuses to go to any camps and meet any. She only goes out on walks or out shopping or recreational type activities with my husband, me, and my 1 yr old. Last year we allowed internet whenever and she abused it and was talking to boys after we told her not to and ended up in a very explicit sexual conversation (aka cyber sex). We had a monitoring software in place and found out and she was no longer allowed any internet time at all.

It's been a year though so we're trying to decide if we should let her use it, but just for like 30-60 mins.

We already know we are blocking myspace, as its filled with sick old perverts looking for young girls.

  • How much time should a 14 yr old girl be allowed on the internet?

It's been a year though so we're trying to decide if we should let her use it, but just for like 30-60 mins. So we're wondering what other parents do for their teenagers. She has a myspace page and I am already going to block that computer from accessing it.

  • My Dell laptop isn't working right./....?

When my husband was on the computer last night, it all of the sudden said "preparing for hibernation" and then it cut off. Now it won't come back on. The 3 amber colored lights (oneis power, one is battery, not sure on middle one - looks like a cylinder) on the front of it blink when I press the power button but nothing happpens. The power supply blinks green and then goes away when it normally stays green all the time. But the laptop won't start without the power supply plugged in at all - which it should since it has a perfectly good battery. I checked and my battery was not one of the recalled ones. this laptop is only 2 years old.

    any suggestions?

  • Steel homes? looking for info about them...?

HI - i was actually researching about steel garages and came upon some sites that actually have floorplans of steel homes and I'm curious because we are looking to move next year. The way the websites make it sound is it's cheaper then conventional homes - but I'm not sure how true it is. The guy I talked to when I called said they sell you the red I frame I believe (may have mixed up the terminology) and that they have all the window and dor openings already in it that are re-inforced but none of the insides are there. Just wondering how that works - who completes the construction Iie: gen. contractor or some sort of specialized person) - and if the insides aren't built - how could this be cheaper? and any pros o cons to these types of homes would be great. I live in CT so we don't have to "usually" worry about earthquakes, hurricans, or tornados... just a heck of a lot of snow....

  • If you are the non-black wife/girlfriend/fiance in an interracial couple... question....?

Do you have an issue with your husband/bf/fiance saying the "N" word? I can't stand that word - I nkow the history behind it and I refuse to use it, nor would it ever be accepted for me as a white woman to use it. But I sometimes hear my husband saying it when he's talking with his friends at work and they call each other that - yes it edns with an "a" but I don't see the difference. Some people consider a part of hip hop culture to use that word to speak to another black person - but I don't care. I don't want it in my home. My step daughter and her sister tried saying that ni my home a couple years ago and I was quick to shut that down and explained that it was an insult to herself and she shouldn't say it and I don't allow it in my house. But is there really anyway to stop it - it's in almost every hip hop or rap song.

So I'm not looking for any racist idiotic comments - just real answers from others in a similar situation - am I the only one this bugs? Should it bug me?

  • What's the best clarifying shampoo/conditioner combo that I could get at a normal store (not a salon)?

HI - I am trying to figure out what shampoo to try next. My hair is long, very thick and heavy - and my hair gets a lot of build up from products that no matter how much I'm rinsing they just don't rinse clean and by morning my head feels gross. I've tried pantene, suave, tresemme, herbal essences, head and shoulders, pert plus... no idea what else to try. a friend suggested a clarifying shampoo so before I send my huby to store I figured I'd find out what works good. He'll be going to Walmart - so nothing you can only get ni a salon will work..... Thx :)

  • Wondering what the difference between Episcopalian, Baptist, Congregational, etc... really is?

HI - Please serious answers only. I and my husband are Christian, I was raised Episcopalian and my husband was raised Baptist. I tried to look online to read some about each religion but they both appear the same to me. The only thing I can find is the Episcopalian came over from England and that Baptists believe you can was away your sins by being, well, baptized.

We are trying to decide what church to start attended but we haven't attended in years and don't know where to start and they all seem to believe the same stuff.....around us we have Baptist, Episcopal (which I hated giong to as a kid - incredibly boring ), Congregational churches, "new life" churches, methodist, and some non-denominational.

Any info about the real differences would be appreciated. I realize religion is a hot topic, but [please no snide remarks or sales pitches.

  • Question about Modular homes.?

We are looking at the possibility of a modular home and Ive found a lot of floor plans I like - we haven't beent o see anyone yet acuse it'll be a few months before we are ready to move. But I've found a couple places that say they wholesale these homes to buyers and then the homeowner/buyer then contracts a builder to do the prep and the finishing work. Any experiences with this? is it worth it? Also, I know it varies by company and house size and style, but dop you know an average cost of what the site work would charge? We are looking at ranches or colonials with probably 1800-2500 sq ft, 4 bedrooms, 2-3 baths and we want a basement and not just a crawlspace (is this possible?). If it helps I'm in CT.

  • Anyone know anything about converting from a coop to a condo?

A friend of mine is trying to get some info. She lives in a coop in Westchester county in NY and they want to convert it to a condo. I realize the condo will make the value much higher and it will be much easier to sell. They are saying there is no upfront cost but that they would ahve to get all new mortgages and they would include some of the coop's debt. Anybody know anything about this? The voting to change it is next month so she's trying to get all the info fbeforehand but the company doing it is obviously only focusing on the positive stuff.

  • What state's statute of limitations would apply?

Hi - My husband defaulted on a car loan b4 we met. He bought it while having an IL license but he lived in OH. This is where his payments stopped. He moved to FL and in 2003 he voluntarily told them to repo it + told them where it was. Now we are married and living in CT and they've started calling again. While we should pay - they want 20 grand for a 91 plymouth. So do we go by Ohio, Illinois, Florida, or CT's state of limitations for written debt. The last contact he had was w/ the original creitor in Dec 2003 when he told them to repo it. Please no bashing, it was a screwed up time in his life....
