  • Isn't this a change of pace?

This isn't really a question, it's a statement. Reply if you want. Maybe I'll be inclined to give you ten points.

I'm not a teenager. I'm a financially independent almost 40 year old man. I'm not having marriage problems. I am deeply in love with my wife. We've been married for almost 13 years and I cherish every one of them. My motivation to acquire retirement resources was primarily because I never wanted to have to leave her in order to go to work again. For years we shared dinners rather than vacations and secrets rather than bottles of fancy champagne. Now we can afford to be together all the time.

I have flowers delivered a couple of times a month, just because I love her, no other special reason necessary. I hire a gardener, pool cleaner and a housekeeper a couple of times a week BUT I help with the cooking and some casual chores because the sooner the work is done the sooner we can enjoy each other's company.

I worship the water my wife walks on. She is my best friend. It takes very little to keep her happy and whatever she has need of I happily provide. I can't live without her. She completes me.

I know you didn't ask, you're here to answer. However, I thought you may be able to use a break from some of the clueless teens and irreconcilable couples. True love exists, is attainable and sustainable. I know that I can never be worthy of such an incredible woman but I'm working a little harder every day to make sure she knows how much I appreciate her.

  • Poll: Who's it gonna be in 2012 - Obama or Palin?

This is my unscientific poll. Let's see which way Y/A wind is blowing.

Do you answer questions longer than a paragraph? If so, did you really read what you responded to?

  • How many proud rock ribbed Republicans are left?

This question is asked from a position of intellectual honesty. Consider...

Family Values: Senators Larry Craig and John Ensign.

    Fiscal Conservatism: The Bush Bailouts.

Kept America Safe: If we ignore 9-11 and the anthrax attacks.

Tax Cuts: Good call - but it would've been nice if you had cut spending while you had all three branches of government and started appointing like minded judges.

Small Government: We're big enough to wire tap private citizens.

Support of the Corporation: You let Lehman Brothers completely fail. Why?!? You bailed everyone else out?

New Ideas and Leadership: Rush Limbaugh & Newt Gingrich. Where's Bob Dole when you need him?!?

Admittedly, I have a position solidly to the left of "screw the poor" but I respect the GOP. I think we need at least two parties but you're not exactly holding up your end of the deal.

How much of your support at this point is just habit or brand loyalty?

  • Is Scooter Libby a gateway drug for conservatives to truth?

I'm a political centerist who is interested in what may be implicit from the links of logic. Answer only if you can be academic. I'm not interested in the passionate (but wrong headed) conjecture from any of the sheep on the far left or right. Here it goes...

Conservative news was busy catching bullets for Saint Lewis today (some even asking if a crime had been committed). Before you lefties are too quick to agree, remember, you did the same for Bill Clinton.

I subject that Libby represents a gateway drug to truth for conservatives. If you accept the conviction, you have to ask why he lied. Obviously, he was protecting his boss. So, then you have to ask why Cheney was so obsessed with smearing Joe Wilson if he (Cheney) believed the Niger yellowcake thing was true. So, if Cheney knew the "intelligence" was bogus, why did he allow it to be sold the the American public in the run up to war?

Is it really better not to go there?

Truth... You don't have to inhale!

  • Anne Coulter? Are you kidding me?

Let me make sure I understand this... Anne Coulter can call anyone with enough sense to disagree with her Godless. Spirituality aside, there has never been any public indication that Democratic candidate John Edwards is anything less than hetero. On the other hand, her friend Ted Haggard of the New Life Church in Colorado (who was until recently on her Godfull list) is undeniably one of those hateful adjectives that, according to Anne may send more evolved human beings into therapy if they found themselves in the habit of using it.

Don't get me wrong. I frequently ask you to love the christian, hate the haphazardly applied christianity. But isn't it time we separate church and state? PLEASE, Please, please my good conservatives... Put down the kool-aid. It isn't too late to grow a brain. You CAN think for yourself. It'll only hurt for a little while.

  • What's not to love?

I'm looking at Charter Communications (CHTR). On the surface they're a nasty ugly mess. Top heavy in high interest debt, nasty fourth quarter, lost almost 15% of their value in the last 30 days (admittedly it was trading near 52 week high and everyone got killed last week).

In February as the stock price was going south, CHTR announced plans to refinance $6.58 billion in senior secured credit facilities by establishing $8.05 billion worth of senior secured credit facilities (providing enough liquidity to fund operations through 2008).

CHTR closed at $2.98 / share on Friday. I'm thinking I like them (purely from my speculative resources) at $2.50 to $2.75 over six to twelve months based primarily on the benefits of the refi.

So my questions are these... What have I missed? What's not to love? Do you think the refinance aspect was already factored in to the price in spite of the precipitous sell off last month?

  • Good product placement, sly humor or coincidence?

So, I'm watching The L Word on Showtime last night (because darn it, somebody has to) and near the end these two characters are having a beer in the kitchen. I notice that they are drinking Dos Equis.

At first I thought it was a typical product placement by Barton Beers. Then I thought that it was the result of a production assistant having a little fun with the XX logo and the over all theme of the show (drawing the obvious connection to the two X chromosomes found in women).

"How clever?" I thought, so I mentioned it to my wife who said, "who thinks of things like that, let alone catches them in two seconds of video?" so now I'm thinking it was just a coincidence.

In fact, now I'm thinking that I have entirely too much free time if I'm asking this question. What do you think?

  • Funny or not?

A guy wants to visit his family in South Korea so he converts $5,000 into Won and gets on a plane. When he gets back he's still got half of his money so he goes back to the bank to reconvert his cash. The teller rings him up and gives him $1,250 USD. The guy says, "Wait a minute, what happened to the rest of my money?"

    The teller says, "Fluctuations."

The guys says, "Fluctuations? Fluctuations? Fluctu white people!!"

  • Spoiled or cherished?

My daughter is almost 10. She's had a cell phone since she was 7. She has a PS2, 30" TV, TiVO, iPod and a computer (with internet connection, filtering software and keylogger) in her room. She picks her own clothes, has streaks in her hair (think Lindsey Lohan in Freaky Friday) and enjoys experimenting with makeup.

NOW... Before you brand me the evil parent here is what you should know. We study together every night, watch cartoons every morning, I never miss her sporting events or school functions, she has more friends than she can keep up with and she is a straight A student.

Also... Stuff means nothing to her. She regularly donates toys and clothes to the local homelss shelters. We even donate to the less fortunate on-line together. People are very important to her so it makes her sad when friends say she is spoiled.

She and I are doing this together (so watch your language please). What do you think? Is she spoiled or just dearly loved?

  • Is my cat sick?

We have a 3 year old Maine Coon cat. She is spaid and up to date on shots. Up until recently she was completely housebroken. The last couple of weeks she's been wetting on everyone's blankets and beds (with the exception of my youngest daughter who is her primary owner). Does she need to see a vet? Is she sick? Is it possible that an animal with a brain pan smaller than a racketball could be spiteful enough to pick on everyone in the house that is not "the girl"? Thank you very much, in advance for your intellectual investment!!
