  • What is with this abbreviated language...?

When did we become a society of horrible spellers and grammar.

I cringe when I see this and it takes me a few seconds to decipher what the context is.

By the way, for people who thinks spell check is 100% accurate, you are wrong. It does not pick up the differences in words such as bear, bare, too, to, & two. At least the ones I've used to double check spelling, and trust me, my English/grammar/spelling marks were always around 95%.

I think the schools need to get back to reading skills as well as phonetics and be critical when marking papers of ALL spelling errors.

I don't buy this theory it will hurt their feelings. They'll never learn.

In my job, spelling is essential and fortunately, we have a built in dictionary for our convenience and once in a while, yes, I use it to verify words. Most of the time I'm right but I'll double check.

  • Dyson Vacuum Cleaners?

Thank you for all your input and thoughts on this machine.

Although I never saw reviews on the Canniser Stoaway, model 21, that was the one I chose.

I love it. The ease of cleaning - amazing suction, it's not too heavy to carry downstairs and changing the attachments is a snap (pardon the pun), and they are all on board.

I plan on purchasing the mini-turbine head for animal fur (right now I use the standard brush) that came with the unit.

Can order on line. I researched the information on line and took into your views as a consumer. There were a few negative responses but the positive ones outnumbered them.

I am very happy with my selection on many levels.

If you need to get a vacuum cleaner in the future, this one is worth the investment.

    Sincerely: kidlet

  • Cats & death?

Have your cats ever mourned the loss of another pet within your household. If so, what was their reaction like.

My other cat did when her "sister" was put down and then it was only him. He was constantly "searching" for her.

Now, I have two remaining cats. They tolerate each other.

They have both sniffed where she was incl. the blood spot (it's now cleaned) and where she used to lay.

I think they'll both be ok, in time.

Thank you for your thoughts on this matter.

For anyone who has lost a pet, the vet's office had a poem (on line, called Rainbow Bridge) to make this situation somewhat easier. Please read it.

  • Valentine's Day?

I refer to this day as "Mush Day". Why, because I don't need a special day on the calendar to know that hubby loves me. He shows me each & every day.

Do others agree with this reflection of mine.

    Just curious.

  • Bamboo Shoot Plants?

My one bamboo shoot has turned from a green stem to the brown bamboo colour, yet, green leaves are being produced.

    What causes this?

The other one is normal, green stem & green leaves.

There are a number of roots on both plants and they are doing well in their present location.

    They are both fairly tall.

  • clarinet players:?

I've increased the reed size as an experiment to 3 & 3.5 (still learning). I am finding it more challenging to say the least.

Is it better to practice with a softer reed?

Do you prefer one brand of reed or another?

My question is, when the clarinet becomes "wet" inside from playing, it seems harder to play. Maybe it's my imagination. I'm still learning.

Should the internal part be drier when I clean it out with the cloth afterwards.

    Thank you.

  • Dreams. Your valued opinion, please.?

I normally don't put stock into what I dream in terms of meanings. Only once and that dream has now been put to rest (pardon the pun).

However, I'm getting this one, again...... I'm walking down the street, I trip & fall and when I try to get up, I am paralzyed and cannot walk.

Any suggestions as to what this encompasses?

My husband says my feet are tangled up in the sheets.

I'm a healthy individual who works out and I walk quite a bit.

Really curious as to your thoughts.

    Sweet Dreams to all tonight.

  • Bakers: Everything I bake in my muffin tin pan sticks. Help!!!?

I have a good quality muffin pan an I wash only by hand and use oil when I bake as not to damage the surface.

I just made some turnovers and stick, stick, stick..... I put them over some water to loosen up to get them out w/o remains being stuck on the bottom. Seemed to work.

Please, how do I prevent stuff from sticking.

I have lowered the heat, changed the time and adjusted the racks.

That's one reason I despise baking.........

Everything burns or sticks. And, my smoke alarm usually goes off. Didn't today. Surprising.

I have also used those baking cups but for turnovers, I don't think you need to, do you?

    Help, please.
