  • Question regarding college applications?

I am currently a junior in high school and I'm a little confused on the application process. I plan on going to a community college for a year (it would be two, but I will have AP credit equal to about a year) to get general courses out of the way since I will have to pay less for the same classes, and later transfer into a 4 year university where I finish my specialized, major-oriented classes for the last two years.

That said, next year when I'm compiling the information and getting ready to send out my application, do I send it only to the community college, or do I send it to the university as well even though I'm not planning on immediately attending the university?

    Thanks.

  • Is there some sort of conversion between credits and credit hours? (HS-College)?

I am an AP student and if you pass the AP examination then you are awarded a certain amount of credits, depending on which college you are planning on attending. Just out of curiosity, I was trying to figure out how much money I'd be saving by taking all of the AP courses in high school (I'm a junior) rather than waiting until I'm actually in college.

Anyways, most colleges will award 5 credits for getting a 4 (B) on the AP exam, some will award 10 for getting a 5 (A). This is where I run into a problem. I've done some research into my own before coming here to ask and college credit is measured by credit hours. Now, I have spent at least 250 hours inside of just one of the AP classes (APUSH, last year) and I am only getting five credits for that. I clearly did not spend only five hours in that class. So is there some way to convert it all or something? At least tell me that I'm not completely wasting my time by taking AP courses in high school.

  • Xbox 360 controller is randomly turning off?

Today I was playing Borderlands and my controller would begin turning off. At first it would swivel my character's aim a little bit and then it would shut off. It would only happen when I pressed down on the right trigger to shoot. I tried changing batteries (I use rechargeable Energizer batteries) and the problem persisted. I looked on support.xbox.com and there was nothing related to my issue. Has this happened to anyone else? I can play for a few seconds or minutes before it turns itself off again.

  • How can I raise my GPA? I have an interesting situation.?

My freshman year I was more than a slacker, I did not care at all about my grades and by thhe end of the year I wound up having a 1.9 GPA. But I didn't have as many classes as everyone else did, I had 4 out of 6 due to a Section 504. I would like to be an astrophysicist, since I love both astronomy and physics, but I understand that a lot of colleges only offer astronomy or physics, not astrophysics. The main colleges that have astrophysics as a major are big ones such as Princeton and Harvard. First semester of sophomore year I had a 2.7 GPA (unweighted) but I am enrolled in the hardest classes they had to offer me.

Now this semester I am actually trying and have a GPA of around 3.2, but it's still not enough to get into a big university that will offer the major that I would like. I did the calculations and even if I had a 4.0 Sophomore, Junior, and Senior years, I'd still be at a 3.475 unweighted. I add the unweighted part because by the time I graduate I will have taken 6 AP classes (APUSH, AP Chem, AP Calculus, AP Environment Science, AP Statistics, and AP Physics.)

I am sorry for the long paragraph, it's just that this has really been worrying me and the only thing I could possibly do to make that 1.9 freshman year is to point out that the GPA is calculated by taking the grade points and adding them, then dividing it by the attempted credit hours. That and that I have a Section 504. I don't want my mistakes as a freshman to follow me for the rest of my life.

  • What is the beat per minute range of a normal 16 year old boy's heart?

I wasn't feeling well today so I went to the doctor and the only thing wrong with me was my pulse: 160+. They immediately sent me to the hospital and I was diagnosed with tachycardia. But I'm trying to explain to someone that 160+ beats per minute is high. As such, I'd like to compare it to the healthy pulse range of a 16 year old boy with a normal heart.

Oh, and all of these are at rest measurements, not measurements after exercising.

  • What are some good books about space exploration/colonization/first contact?

I have always had an interest in astronomy and space exploration, and recently I saw the documentary "Alien Planet" which was based off of "Expedition: Being an Account in Words and Artwork of the 2358 A.D. Voyage to Darwin IV" by Wayne Barlowe, and I like the idea of the first encounter with an alien lifeform.

I also enjoy the Halo series (hence the username.) So basically, what I'm looking for are some books that would be a fictional (obviously, as we haven't made contact with aliens yet) representation of how humanity might come across an alien civilization or something along those lines.

How do I randomize points within a certain area using Processing.?

Okay, so I have to do this project for my Computer Science class, and we are doing random() in Processing. What I want to do is to create an atom-like structure by putting a little circle at the center (nucleus) of the page, and to make two bigger circles around it, in which the area between them is where electrons would be randomized. I attached a terrible looking picture to roughly estimate what I'd like it to look like. As you can see, the nucleus is in the center, and then there are two circles. All of the area between those circles I would like to have a point randomly popping into that area using the random function.

The only thing I could possibly think of is using equations of circles, maybe inequalities, to set the parameters.

Anything would be appreciated, because I'm beat. I have no idea how to go about this.

  • iPod 2G won't boot at all?

I have an iPod that I got a few years back. I've been having this problem for awhile but I am in serious need of the iPod now because it has screenshots that will prove my innocence in a matter with my girlfriend. Anyways, the problem is that when I plug it into a computer, it will go to the little red battery charging screen and then it will go to the pitch black screen with only the white apple logo. It will stay there for about 60 seconds and then it will shut off and go completely black, then it restarts the process again and again. Of course, I can't restore it or do anything with iTunes because it won't even power up enough to go to the lock screen. Not that I would restore it, as when you restore it you lose all data stored on the device.

Anything you guys can do to help would be greatly appreciate.

  • What is the name of the mysterious drawings in the sand?

I vividly recall that there were huge etchings of things in the desert that were written at a time where they could not see what they were writing (e.g. see it from an airplane). I find it somewhat fascinating. But I don't remember the name of it so I cant read more about it. Not only that, but it's going to bother me until I get the name.

  • what happened in the first five minutes of bridesmaids?

I'm not asking because I forgot, its because someone was talking about it and they were saying something about me. So I believe that what I'm asking is what unusual things happened? But I still wanna know what happened.

    Thanks.

  • why does everyone hate me? seriously.?

Alright, well when I was in preschool, young fives, kindergarten and 1st grade I was like the most popular kid. Somewhere between 2nd-6th grade I somehow became hated.

In my opinion I may have wronged one person on facebook or something and a million people saw it and started a rumor.

I do have friends. But only like 5. 3 meh friends and 2 great friends.

8th grade (this year) was no different from the past.

It could be possible that when I hear/see something someone says, I try to make humor out of it or try to add my opinion. And it seems no one agrees on my opinion.

I just don't want to go into highschool with everyone hating my guts.

Oh, one chick called me egotistical.

Which to be honest, I think I have a little breathing room for that, as I take an advanced math course and having a reading level twice as high as any other has.

    please help.

    It's a little bit of a crisis.

This isn't my primary motivation, but all the attractive girls are popular, and popular girls won't like some hated kid.

Sorry for it being long, as I kept getting to the end of the detail section and then remembered more stuff.

  • Does anybody want to join a cod black ops clan? (xbox)?

It is required that you try out. K/d 1.5+. Even then I expect the majority to not make it, as this is a elite clan. If you don't make it there, you will be put in a different team. If you'd like to know more, send me a message on Xbox LIVE. My gamertag is halorazer.

I have tried pretty much everything. Clearisil, Noxema, dermatologists, etc. I wash my face every morning and night, before using my topical acne cream. I need help. Again, I'm 14 with stubborn acne. I want things that have worked for you. It's extremely embarrassing and makes it tough to maintain I contact due to it. If you fix this it would be a life saver. I will try pretty much anything. Thanks.
