Legal question about defending myself from my dad?

So I'm 13, and my dad has made threats and physically made contact, and I wad wondering, if he hit me, and I fought back and somehow he ended up in the hospital, could I be arrested?

Update:

Liz-It was a legal question. I'm not asking for you to tell me who's right. Additionally, I wouldn't beat him. Just I know where to hit, other than the groin, to stop him.

Also, I don't trust any adults.

Update 2:

Well I do but I would find telling them my family night a little embarrassing.

Keep a journal of threats your father makes against you. MAKE SURE HE DOESN'T KNOW ABOUT IT.

If it does devolve to violence and you are in court present your case.

Anyway your father is meant to protect you. Just because he brought you into this world it does not give him the right threaten your personal well being. If you are really concerned for your person, approach the authorities. Make sure it's child care workers.

Um, I find it strange that this is what you are worrying about. You should tell a trusted adult about this, because your father should not hit you. Why would you want to beat your father as badly as that? I don't think you are telling the whole story here - we need more details.

Don't worry about legality (which would probably be self defense, anyway), but worry about your present safety! If your family will not get you away from the situation, call the police, who will get in touch with the child protective services.

You could be arrested. A judge might have to decide if you were defending yourself.
