  • Here's a Doozy for you researchers and historians. Up to the Challenge? :D?

As it becomes less and less popular for younger Females in western cultures to grow out their nails for decorative purposes, I'm curious, when did it become popular for women to grow out their nails and decorate them? has this always been the case? has fingernail decoration always been popular amongst different cultures throughout history? or is it a more recent innovation in some cultures?

  • Illegal Drug Trade; What are the Street prices of commonly traded illegal substances?

I am writing an essay on the global, nationalized and local effects of the drug trade on their respective economies. In order to write an all-encompassing paper i need to know the average prices drugs are traded for on the streets. I already have a lot of specifics on international trade and large scale distribution so what i'm really in need of are the prices "users" pay. I need all the pricing info i can get on Marijuana, Methamphetamines, Herion (and other opium derivatives), Crack/Cocaine, psychotropic Mushrooms, LSD, Prescription narcotics like Oxycodone or hydrocodone and ecstacy. (Please include weights and measures of said substances)

Now given that prices for all products vary around the world, would you (if you're comfortable doing so) put the country and state from which you are citing your prices; All for the sake of detailed research. Thanks, Trent

  • using grow lights to raise young plants?

I am trying to find the best kind of light bulb to grow an indoor garden. I am currently using a 32 watt CFL (compact fluorescent lightbulb) bulb and it doesn't appear to be helping the plants much at all. i have read that fluorescent bulbs are the best, however, is there a distinction between a household CFL and a grow CFL?

  • How can i reduce Brain activity?

I think too much. When i do, i think unpleasant things and it makes me an unhappy person. To avoid thinking i go to work for free just to occupy myself. Is there any drug out there that can be prescribed that will stupify me? Is there any activity short of hitting myself with a hammer, that will make me stop thinking?

  • I've just started an Anti-depressant. How long before it works?

I've been an incredibly sad person for years now and finally sought medical help when i reached the end of my rope. I was prescribed citalopram 20mg, but the doctor told me it may take awhile before i start to feel happiness. I heavily contemplate suicide but don't want to do that to my family and friends, i'd much rather just be disillusioned by the drug, but i don't think i can wait long enough for it to kick in. How long before i will feel some relief?

I'm looking for a weekend away once school gets out and i want to rent a nice room at a quality hotel like the Hyatt, the Weston or Hilton. I'm only 18, but i have a debit card and my own credit card. if i use my credit card might i be required to show an ID at check-in? My father knows my intention and is willing to let me get the room in his name, but would his presence be required in order for me to check in?

  • Poll: Roman Society and suicide?

In Roman culture it was a cowardly and dishonorable act to take ones' own life, but on certain occasions, respectable members of society would be sentenced to death. Rather than disgrace such people with death as a gladiator or public execution the state would allow them to return to their homes and were required, within one day, to kill themselves. The most common forms of suicide in those days were Hanging, poison and a dagger to the heart. Assume this law were enacted in America today; What would you spend your last day doing and how would you end it?

Note to Catholics: We already know how you feel on the subject of suicide, so assume that you had to put yourself in harms way in order to full-fill the contract.

  • I have frequent Kidney stones and am looking for the most efficient way for pain relief.?

I have prescription access to vicodin, toradol, tylonol 3 and oxycodone. however, most take about 30 minutes to relieve the debilitating pain of a kidney stone. I have started grinding the pills up and swallowing the powder (faster absorption because of more surface area). If i were to snort the powder would i get faster relief? and if i were really desperate enough would it be dangerous to melt the powder and inject it?
