  • My blower quit working on a 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited. Can anyone share their expertise/experience to help me get it fixed?

The fan blower quit working on my 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited. All the fuses are good. I understand it could be the HVAC Blower Motor Resistor. Can anyone give me advice? Also, where is this resistor located and how to get to it. Thanks in advance

  • Gas hot water heater setting while on vacation question?

My 50 gal Rheem natural gas water heater is 12 years old and probably nearing its end — it has had low use (mostly myself in the house) so it may last longer but who knows... Anyway, I had plans to change it before it leaks but have to go on a 2 week vacation. In order to avoid leaks while I'm gone shall I simply turn off the cold-water inlet to the tank and put it on the pilot setting? Or should I turn off the water main to the house? Will replace it after the vacation. Thanks in advance for your responses.

  • Can my company ask for a copy of my driver's license?

I have been working at a company for 21 years. I got a an email from an HR person wanting a scanned copy of my DL because my "file is incomplete." I have no problem providing that but since nobody else was asked (their files don't have the DL either...I've checked) I am wondering if HR has the right to ask.

I don't have anything to hide, in fact I am approved and have an account in the Global Entry Federal Trusted Traveler Program. Does the company not have to explain clearly what is to be checked and how they will gather the information? Other people who are long term employees did not get the request even though their files also lack their DL. Just seeking some HR & legal clarification.

  • Where can I find a Blackberry repair shop in Israel?

My friend has a BB model 9720 with a cracked screen. Can anyone suggest an honest repair shop in Israel to get this fixed? The phone company there (Orange) charges an arm and a leg, but a private facility probably could probably repair this a lot cheaper. Thanks.

  • Can I upgrade Windows Vista (Eng.) using Windows 7 Upgrade (Hebrew)?

My friend gave me an unused/uninstalled Windows 7 upgrade boxed HEBREW version. I'd like to use it to upgrade Windows Vista (English) to Windows 7 (Eng.), but not sure if there are options to do this, so that the Windows 7 OS installs in English. If not, is there a way to work around this?

  • Laptop battery question?

I have a 12 cell (long lasting) battery for my HP laptop. About 2 months ago it would not hold a charge for more than 5 mins. I thought the battery was done for.

Yesterday my laptop would not boot up (blank screen) and I pulled out the adapter power cord to get it to shut down but noticed that the laptop stayed on with the blank screen for more than 5 mins ... in fact the laptop stayed on for a couple of hours (with the blank screen).

So finally the laptop shut down after the battery drained completely. Wow the battery UNEXPECTEDLY came back to life!!! Plugged in the AC adapter and Windows booted up also...hooray!

To recalibrate the battery, I did a full charge, disconnected the charger and I'm still running on that charge: it is now around 3.5 hrs on the "born again" battery and 11% remaining.

Question is what happened to make to battery to come back to life all of a sudden?

  • Trying to identify a tropical nut bearing tree near beaches?

I am trying to find the name of a tropical tree. This tree has broad largish full leaves, around 30ft high and drops nuts. When the outer husk is removed the nut is slender and shaped like a boattail bullet though a bit more slender. I've seen the tree in tropical areas near the ocean and suspect the nuts are carried by the ocean currents and new plants germinate from the seeds when deposited near the beaches. I've seen this tree in Hawaii, Sri Lanka, and in the Caribbean. All the trees are close to the beach. If anyone knows the biological name for this tree please share. Thanks much.

  • Which is correct “this is a joint effort between 4 people” or …?

Which is correct: “this is a joint effort between 4 people” or “this is a joint effort (by/among) 4 people?”

Does "joint” only apply to 2 people? If so, what word can I use instead of “joint” when the effort involves more than 2?

  • What size socket do I need for removing a PCV on a 2006 Grand Cherokee 4.7L?

The PCV on my Jeep GC model is way back drivers side, screw in type and hard to get to. It requires a socket for unscrewing/removal according to online posts. What size socket do I need for this job? How deep should the socket be? Note: this is the new location for the PCV, not to be confused with 05 and early 06 models that had the PCV on the oil filler pipe.

  • How do I set up a headset to use with Google voice?

I'm a US Google Voice user and have been using GV for a couple of months routing usage to either my landline or cell. Now I'm in Canada and if I route to my cell (obviously can't use the landline) I'll have to pay high cellphone roaming charges.

Is there any way to use a headset with GV just like in Skype? If so how do you set this up?

  • Where can I get the best exchange rate for the Israeli shekel?

I live in the U.S. and will be travelling to Israel in about a month. One of my banks (Citibank) offers a travel pack but their exchange rate today is only 3.94 per $1, vs. 4.21 per $1 todays online exchange rate.

For those who have travelled to Israel, should I wait and exchange money upon arrival and where?

  • Why has the democrat controlled congress let us down?

The dems have controlled both houses of congress for the past two years and can't see to get anything right, Congress is in charge of the purse strings of America and they are directly responsible for the financial mess we are in. And the label "do nothing congress" is a most appropriate name.

  • Why are Texas women so obese?

I just got back from Utah and was amazed to see that most women in that state are slim and feminine...the way women should look. I've also been to other countries and have seen the same thing. Here in Texas the women are all fat cows. Does anyone know why Texas people get so bloated? They sure don't start out life looking like that...

  • Auto AC vent temperature questions?

I've got 2 Jeep Grand Cherokees and the coldest readings is as follows:

    - 2006 GC, outside temp 90F, vent temp 43F

    - 1994 GC, outside temp 82F, vent temp 36F at idle, 40F cruising.

    Questions:

    1) Is my 2006 GC temp okay or do I need to get it lower? How?

    2) On the 1994 GC, why is the idle temp lower than when cruising? Shouldn't it be the reverse, i.e. lower when cruising than when at idle?

  • How many showers do you take each day?

I've been taking two showers since I was a teenager living in the humid tropics. It's become habit now, and besides how can anyone go to bed after having all the dirt, dust and grime settle on their bodies and head during the day? And how could you go to work after being covered with dust mites and dustmite poop in bed, w/o taking a shower in the morning?

I bought the following xenon gas filled bulbs for my 2006 Grand Cherokee Limited:

    9005 -- Hyperwhite 5000K, 100W

    9006 -- Hyperwhite 5000K, 80W

Is the wattage too high? Would I have any type of problems such as too much heat produced, wire burnout, etc?
