While many fans have been vocal about it, many wondered if it would ever happen. soapcentral.com has now confirmed that Cady McClain (Dixie Martin) will return to All My Children in May. The actress first appeared as Dixie in 1988.
Cady McClain (Dixie Martin) will return to All My Children this spring. While fans of the actress will no doubt be jumping for joy at the news, there are a few associated buts that could temper any celebration. McClain's return to Pine Valley is only on a short-term basis - and Dixie is still dead.
"Yes, it's true!" McClain wrote in her personal blog. "I am returning to AMC for a while. As it stands, they have asked me back to play a ghost [..] for a limited amount of time."
McClain, a two-time Emmy winner, made a much publicized exit from All My Children in January 2007 when her character was felled by poisoned pancakes. The exit was hardly amicable. It was widely speculated that McClain's outspokeness about the show's direction contributed to her ouster. The official explanation by the network was that the show's writing team, then helmed by Megan McTavish, had run out of storyline ideas for Dixie. Additionally, nixing McClain's salary was seen as a way to help trim the show's budget. Only days after Dixie was killed off, all mention McClain and her character was abruptly removed from ABC's official web site. The move seemed like a slap in the face to McClain's fans who noted that many dismissed actors remain present in the show's credits for months after their termination.
"I don't think they will ever bring me back, especially if they have removed the Dixie CHARACTER bio from the website," McClain offered at the time. "It's over. It's all done. AMC is going to become something totally different than it once was. It will be all new, all different. Why? I can only conjecture."
While hell might not have frozen over, ABC did reach out to McClain about a return. Julie Hanan Carruthers, All My Children's executive producer, contacted McClain to see if she had any interest in discussing a possible return to the show. McClain listened to Carruthers' offer, noting that it provided an opportunity to "heal something that so many feel went amiss."
"Dixie is back in Pine Valley with a mission: She's reuniting Tad with their long missing daughter, Kate!" a show spokesperson said in a statement. "Now with her angelic hand, Dixie will guide Tad into the loving embrace of their little girl."
McClain confirms that Dixie will return as a ghost, but refuses to rule out that things could change in the future.
Cady McClain's Dixie returns to AMC in May. What are your thoughts?
I'm so excited that Cady will be back to wrap up the Kate storyline.
I'm happy McClain is returning, but I'm upset that Dixie will be a ghost.
Dixie is dead and needs to stay dead. This ghost thing is ridiculous!
I've never really cared for Dixie, so I am not thrilled that she'll be back
I'm insulted. Until AMC un-kills Dixie, I will not be happy.
I have no opinion about Cady McClain's return at this time.

"I know this may be a disappointment to some of you, but I ask you to please give it a chance. I have had the opportunity to have some lovely in depth conversations with TPTB about this story, and I think it will be very uplifting, fun, and rewarding for fans."
All My Children fans know that seeing a character as a ghost or spirit doesn't necessarily rule out that the character could turn up very much alive at a later date. Jesse Hubbard returned to Pine Valley earlier this year, several years after he appeared as a ghost to help usher a slain Gillian Andrassy to heaven.
"Who knows what the future will bring? Right now I take it a day at a time," McClain adds.
McClain joined the cast of All My Children in October 1988 and remained with the show through 1996. She returned in July 1998 before again exiting in February 2002. From 2002 to 2005, McClain appeared as Rosanna Cabot on CBS's As the World Turns. Her work on the show earned her a Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress. McClain then returned to AMC in December 23rd, 2005 before her unceremonious exit on January 30th, 2007.
McClain first airs on May 2nd.

Poem
WOMAN'S POEM
Before I lay me down to sleep,
I pray for a man, who's not a creep,
One who's handsome, smart and strong.
One who loves to listen long,
One who thinks before he speaks,
One who'll call, not wait for weeks.
I pray he's gainfully employed,
When I spend his cash, won't be annoyed.
Pulls out my chair and opens my door,
Massages my back and begs to do more.
Oh! Send me a man who'll make love to my mind,
Knows what to answer to "how big is my behind?"
I pray that this man will love me to no end,
And always be my very best friend.
MAN'S POEM
I pray for a deaf mute nymphomaniac with huge boobs
who owns a liquor store and a harley dealership. This
doesn't rhyme and I don't give a ****.

THE WASH CLOTH
I was due for an appointment with the gynecologist later in the week.
But early on Monday morning, I received a call from his office to tell
me that my appointment had been rescheduled for that morning at 9:30AM.
I had just packed everyone off to work and school, and it was
already around 8:45 AM. Since the trip to his office would take
about 35 minutes,
I didn't have any time to spare. As most women do, I like to take a
little extra effort
over hygiene when making such visits, but this
time I wasn't going to be able to make the full effort. So, I
rushed upstairs, threw off my pajamas, wet the washcloth that was
sitting next to the sink, and gave myself a quick wash in "that
area" to make sure I was at least presentable.
I then threw the washcloth in the hamper, donned some clothes,
hopped in the car and raced to my appointment. I was in the waiting
room for only a few minutes when I was called in. Knowing the
procedure, as I'm sure you do, I hopped up on the table, looked
over at the other side of the room and pretended that I was in Paris or
some other place a million miles away.
I was a little surprised when the doctor said, "My, we've made an
extra effort this morning, haven't we?" I didn't respond.
After the exam, I heaved a sigh of relief and went home. The rest of
the day was normal... some shopping, cleaning, cooking, etc.
After school when my six year old daughter was playing, she called
out from the bathroom, "Mommy, where's my washcloth?" I told her
to get another one from the cupboard.
She replied, "No, I need the one that was here by the sink, it had
all my glitter and sparkles saved inside it.

Hind Lick maneuver
Two hillbillies walk into a restaurant. After ordering their cornbread and beans, they talk about the latest addition to their junkyard business.
Suddenly, a woman at a nearby table, who is eating a sandwich, begins to cough. After a minute or so, it becomes apparent that she is in real distress.
One of the hillbillies looks at her and says "Kin ya swallar?" The Woman shakes her head no.
"Kin ya breathe?" The woman begins to turn blue and shakes her head no.
The hillbilly walks over to the woman, lifts up the back of her dress, yanks down her drawers and quickly gives her right butt cheek a lick with his tongue.
The woman is so shocked that she has a violent spasm and the obstruction flies out of her mouth. As she begins to breathe again, the hillbilly walks slowly back to the bar.
His partner says, "Ya know, I'd heerd of that there 'Hind Lick Maneuver', but I ain't never seed nobody do it."

Subject: Women Who Know Their Place
Women Who Know Their Place
Barbara Walters of Television's 20/20 did a story on gender roles in
Kabul, Afghanistan several years before the Afghan conflict. She
noted
that women customarily walked 5 paces behind their husbands.
She recently returned to Kabul and observed that women still walk
behind their husbands. From Ms. Walter's vantage point, despite the
overthrow of the oppressive Taliban regime, the women now seem to
walk
even further back behind their husbands and are happy to maintain the
old
custom.
Ms. Walters approached one of the Afghani women and asked, "Why do
you
now seem happy with the old custom that you once tried so desperately
to
change?"
The woman looked Ms. Walters straight in the eyes, and without
hesitation, said, "Land Mines."
