Calchas
In Greek mythology, Calchas ("bronze-man") or Kalchas Thestórides ("son of Thestor"), a loyal Argive, was a powerful seer, with a gift for interpreting the flight of birds that he received of Apollo: "as an augur, Calchas had no rival in the camp" (Iliad i, E.V. Rieu translation). It is also said that Calchas died of laughter when the day that was to be his death day arrived and the prediction didn't seem to materialize. Should incest between two consenting adults be legalised?
If homosexuality is acceptable because it is between two consenting adults then why not with adult-adult incest? If it is because of the potential of genetic deformities than why not stop people with defective genes from having children.
I see no other logical reason to ban adult-adult incest other than a moral 'ick' factor by society at large, as was the case with homosexuality, interracial marriages and any other majority preference biased feelings.
Please see an interesting example of this below.
7 AnswersLaw & Ethics10 years agoHow do I boot up my laptop after upgrading my RAM?
I purchased x2 2GB RAM (DDR2) for my HP 550 and after replacing my 1 GB of RAM, couldn't boot. My laptop has dual boot (Linux & Vista), is that a problem? Do I need to upgrade my BIOS? Any help would be appreciated.
5 AnswersLaptops & Notebooks10 years agoWho feels more, one who has a feeling they can't describe or one who can describe a feeling never experienced?
I used the word feel in the above question as shorthand for experience.
An e.g of the question would this;
Between an adult born deaf, dumb and blind (i.e with no ability to communicate) playing in the snow during winter in a temperate zone of the planet and a meteorological student in a desert region who has never been in proximity but is nevertheless well learned who has the greater experience/awareness of snow?
4 AnswersPhilosophy1 decade agoIs their a correlation between how religious a country is and percentage of its population infected with AIDS?
I'm looking for either a positive or negative correlation, any measure of religiosityis acceptable as long as it is reasonable.
I've often wondered if how a nation views itself as a religious grouping of individuals has ever had any relation to whether the population is more or less susceptible to contracting and or spreading the HIV AIDS virus.
3 AnswersOther - Society & Culture1 decade agoWhy do fractals always look organic? Why aren't there any industrial, mechinised-esque fractals?
They either look like ferns, branches, tissue, cells or mould. Why don't they ever resemble blocks or Echer-esque landscapes?

For example if I wanted a novel to enter into the world of Sherlock Holmes I would read A Study In Scarlet or A Scandal In Bohemia, what are their equivalents in the Lovecraftian universe?
2 AnswersBooks & Authors1 decade agoIs it possible that Gravity is just a special form of space-time?
Instead of thinking as masses causing depressions in space time, wouldn't it be simpler to think of masses converting space-time into an attractive force, i.e. Gravity.

If they don't exist, than they should. Who knows, it might bring peace to the region.

E.g All physical bodies have centres, all concepts have a basis and all ideas have a cause of thought.
Is it universally true that all structures have a centre whether Empirical or Rational?
