  • human translation for Hebrew sentence?

I'm using a HP touchpad so I'm goin to do my best to write out the sentence. Actually in this case I will be spelling out the words, so here we go.

    First word: alef, nun, yod

Second word: alef, bet, reysh, he, mem

    Third: alef, nun, yod

    Fourth: alef, vav, he, bet

Fifth: mem, vav, zayin yod, qof, he

Sixth: vav, alef, vav, kaf, lamed

    Seventh: tet, vav, bet

i know that the first and third words spell out "ani" which means "I", the second word spells "Avraham", and the last spells "tov" which means "good".

I am currently learning ancient hebrew, and ontop of that, i have yet to be able to read hebrew while the vowels are excluded. Ive tried looking up these words in a lexicon that i have with little to no use. So if someone could help, even just a word or two would be great. Ive also tried parsing each word without success. Thanks in advance for any help.

I heard this song on Q107 (A classic rock radio station in toronto) that has the chorus saying something like "Cookoo para pachaka". It sounds like a few people that sing it where the lead singer i believe is a male.

those are the only lyrics i know.

  • What do you do when you want to do volunteer work?

What kinds of volunteer work have you done in the past / current / considering for the future?

I'm a 2nd year university student and am thinking of doing some volunteer work. The reason is, I've been working at a store for 7 years and I don't feel like I've contributed anything to the small business let alone to society. I have a few ideas but I don't want to do volunteer work for seniors (old folks' home) and juniors (children).

I've considered the following but would like more ideas:

-Hospital / other medical institutions (dentists, pharmacy, whoever will take me)

    -Library

-Veterinary clinic (is that even possible?)

Second, how do I apply? is it just like applying for a real job? Do I let the employer know before the interview, during the interview, after the interview, or on the resume that I'm applying as a volunteer?

  • Questions about Swift's "A Modest Proposal"?

    1. I wonder if jumping from the usual satirical context to his serious proposals to his country's situation and back to the satirical tone is one of Jonathan Swift's complex techniques of undermining the reader's complacency?

I'm talking about the italicized text near the end of 18th century author Jonathan Swift's "A Modest Proposal". In this not-too-modest modest proposal, he suggests that the poor parents who spend their days begging for money or food to feed their infants, to instead sell those infants as food to wealthy people. There's more extremely disturbing "modest proposals" than that that I WILL NOT get into.

    2. Plus, does anyone know for sure the purpose for this satire? Does Swift write this out of disgust of those poor people of Dublin at that time of the Black Plague and therefore writes the satire to make fun of them and imply that they are more useful as food? Or does he write in defense of them, therefore making fun of the wealthy people who are the ones disgusted by the poor?

    3. And if this satire was in fact meant to be humourous, is this also one of his techniques to undermine the reader's complacency, in perhaps allowing the reader to realize that something to serious as a Black Plague and its effects on the people is not funny and yet we are enjoying the reading as though it is a comedy?

  • Which one is the Canadian spelling?

Which one of these is the Canadian spelling and which one is American, if any?

    1. Reconnaissance

    2. Reconnoissance

The difference between each one is the first one has the letter ''a'' after the double ''nn'' where the second one has an ''o'' instead.

    -reading

    -day dreaming

-wondering if the black and white pictures i see all over the place were black and white because the world was actually black and white back then...

the song im looking for is the one that after a few mins, all you can here is the drums that played in the episode where commander Adama and the admiral of the pegesus were about to start a civil war with each other. the drums were playing in such a way that made that scene so intense!

  • Why does the Bible do this?

Why does the Bible spell "Satan" with a capital "S"? I know that the Bible only capitalizes "Lord", "God", "Jesus", "Christ", "Him / His" (when referring to God or Christ), "Messiah", etc.

I'm assuming this is so, because of the obvious, that Jesus is the Saviour and God is the beginning and end etc., but why capitalize Satan if Satan is bad? Or am I missing a greater point as to why God and Jesus are always capitalized....

  • What are the literary issues of 1 John?

I've asked this question before and no one had a definite answer. I think its probably because I didn't word the question right:

Discuss any literary issues of 1 John. Mention issues such as: Structure, Language, and Style, Special literary or grammatical features, etc.

This is a section from the instruction sheet for a NEW TESTIMENT SURVEY course I'm taking.

  • Why did God allow the library to be destroyed?

In second temple judaism, why did God allow the destruction of the library? i know that it had something to do with the fact that the library contained all family trees of the jewish people and that god did not want them to be able to discover from whom Jesus came from or something like that?
