offers the best chance for advancement? I know that you can "advance" from rank to rank in all branches, but I have heard that promotion is harder to come by in some branches than it is in others.

2 AnswersSingles & Dating1 decade agoArmy / Marine Corps Band?
Is being in the band an actual MOS? Or is that something that is done on the side? Do you have to audition for the band? Do they take interested recruits into the band who have never before played an instrument?

4 AnswersMilitary1 decade agoWhy does it seem that there are better facilities...?
on Air Force bases? I have been on three separate AF bases, a couple of Marine bases and plenty of Army posts, and from what I have seen the AF bases make the others look almost inadequate to use. Does anyone know why that is?
I will apologize if I used the term base / post in the wrong manner, I am a civilian with not too much experience with military jargon. Thx. =)

12 AnswersMilitary1 decade agoAbout joining the military...?
I have been going back and forth on whether or not I should join the military (air force), and I had almost made up my mind to do so until I came across height / weight/ body fat requirements. Now, I am confident I can pass the physical fitness part of the exam (push-ups, sit ups, running) but I discovered I am 25 lbs over the requirement for my height and age (but I can still run 2 miles in under 18 mins.) I work out every day and eat healthy and have not been able to drop any more weight. If my weight is the only standard I don't meet, could it still be possible to get in the military? If not, what are some options to help me lose this weght as quickly and as healthily as possible?

6 AnswersYouTube1 decade agohow much is too much?
I just got finished watching an "infomercial" for a church in Woodbridge, VA that was talking about their new church they are building. I was shocked when I saw that this church will have a state of the art fitness center, a convience store - (not a bookstore... but a place to get medicine, personal items, snacks, they will have a bookstore, but that is seperate from the convience store) and a 5 to 6 restaurant food court! Now I do not have a problem with churches being built, however I think that some of these "amenities" are a bit too much. What are your views.
16 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoBad Employee?
Back in the summer I got a new position with the company I work for that was completely different from anything I had ever done before. I was qualified for the job, but still needed a large amount of training which I did never got. Also, in the 6 weeks before my arrival, there had been no one doing my job and I was greeted with 6 weeks worth of work that was already past due. I have never had the chance to catch up with my work and am approx. 4 weeks or so behind. The problem is, my boss thinks that I am currently caught up and though I try to work dilligently to catch up my work, I cant make any progress. The fact that I am behind is starting to show as those whom I work with are now asking for completed documents which I have been struggling to get and making excuses for why I cannot provide them. How do I get a handle on this before it costs me my job over this? I thought about comming in early or staying late, but where I work is secure and I can't be at work outside of my shift.

12 AnswersMilitary1 decade agoChurch, Television, and the Cross...?
My Pastor recently decided to put a cross at the Altar at my church. He made a statement that because our church services are televised both nationally and across the globe that in the past they have been advised not to have a cross on display as not to offend people. He stated that he made the decision to put the cross up because it is one of the largest symbols of Christianity and that we shouldn't "sensor" ourselves. This made me think of all the different church services I watch on TV and I see plenty of Globes, Bibles, and Praying Hands, but very few, if any Crosses. Now, I suppose I could sort of see how seeing Jesus actually hanging from a cross could be offensive to some, but just a cross in itself? How is that more offensive than a symbol of the Bible, or Praying hands? What are your views?
9 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoDoes tithing change people?
I recently made the decision to start tithing (the entire 10%). I make less than 30k a year and live paycheck to paycheck. My tithe (which I have decided to give monthly) is equal in amount to my cell phone, electric, and car/ renters insurance bills put together. Once I made that decision, which was a hard one, and wrote that first check my thoughts about how I should live my life changed. I immediately began to assess how I lived my life as a Christian and realized that not tithing properly wasn't the only thing that I needed to change. I believe that this wouldn't of happened if I had not of decided to faithfully tithe.
If tithing has changed you, how so?
