our heat pump stopped providing cold air a few days ago, its an older carrier unit. the fan on the unit runs, however the compressor doesn't seem to be running, when i pull the outside cut off to kill the fan i can hear a humming sound. ive got the whole thing off now, and im wondering if its the capacitor. the DOM in 1984 so i have no idea if that plays a role or not.

anyone know of a product that allows me to do this.ive heard drivers do it but i cant find anything online.

this problem happened overnight. this morning when i started my car i noticed some shaking coming from the engine similar to the way a car shakes just before it stalls in a manual trans car. (this is an auto with 2mo old trans) the shaking does not go away when i give it throttle. i drove it about 500 feet then the engine light began blinking. anyone got an idea whats going on here? i had no problems yesterday and all fluids are fresh and full.

the vehicle is an 01 ford escape v6. the guy at Goodyear placed the estimate at about a 1000 bucks. the compressor and dryer is all one unit so that is part of the high cost. its the weekend and most places are closed. anyone think i could get it done for much less or is this about right?

im looking to replace the ram in my laptop. i can purchase 1 gig sticks of pc2700 in 184 pin setups for as little as 40 bucks. however i can only find a few 200 pin sticks and they cost over 80 dollars each. just wondering if this is a corner i can cut or not.
