  • Getting sound to HD PC monitor.?

I bought a HD monitor/TV and have been using it for both functions. I want to be able to control the volume with the remote when I'm watching youtube or netflix or whatever, so I want to connect the PC audio output to the monitor audio input. Thing is, like most TVs now, it has half a dozen different input settings, and I don't know how to get audio while it's on HD input. There's a PC input jack on the monitor end that should have worked, but it doesn't, even though I've plugged the other end of the cable into the speaker and the headphone jack on the PC. Is there some sort of computer setting I'm missing, or am I stuck with having to use the computer speakers?

  • Ladies, a dating question.?

Do you know before a guy asks you out if you'll say yes or not? I know a girl that's probably never thought about me that way, but I might not be locked in the "friend zone" either. I've known her all quarter and I'm wondering if its going to hurt my chances that she doesn't already act like she's interested in me.

  • Why isn't yahoo messenger working?

Am I the only one who can't log on? Every time I try to get on it says there's a connection problem. One of my other friends can't get on either. Is this common and does anyone have any idea when it might be fixed?

  • Creationism and Christianity?

I'm sure I'm going to get a lot of "IT JUST IS!" answers from narrow minded people who automatically assume that questions of this nature are an attack on their faith, but here goes anyway.

Why is it that many Christians assume that attacking evolution validates their beliefs?

A very real conversation occurred between me and a Christian friend. He showed me a flower and asked if I thought it was beautiful. I agreed it was. He then asked if I now realized that God existed and that Jesus died for my sins. He got defensive when I pointed out that nearly every major religion has it's own creation story, and that while you couldn't have Christianity without Creationism, many faiths have Creationism without Christianity. Something pretty looking in nature didn't have anything to do with the existence and resurrection of Jesus. So why do so many people defend their Christian faith with the notion that life couldn't have just come out of nowhere?

  • Medicaid laws and parental stuff?

ok, I'm in an interesting situation. I have a child with a woman I'm not married to, and we're no longer together but still on good terms. She hasn't come after me for child support and left my name off the birth certificate so the state (MI) didn't eat me alive, because I don't make alot of money. Well, she applied for medicaid for the baby and they made her name a father, and now I believe the state is going to demand money from me to lighten their load. How much might they go for, and will they force me to pay child support as well, even though the mother doesn't care to have it? I DO visit and help raise the child, just so you all know, but neither one of us wants the courts getting involved. Also, if the mother and I went for 50-50 custody, what happens to the medicaid?

  • Omnipotence and free will?

I keep hearing Christians talk about free will, how there is suffering in this world because God had to allow us to fail. I ask you this:

God is all powerful and could have made us however He wanted.

If God is perfect and does not fail, then we are made exactly how we were supposed to be.

If God is omnipotent, He knew everything we would do.

If only God can create, then there is nothing about us or our souls that came from anywhere but God.

Therefore, if God wanted us to not sin, why didn't He make us in a way that we wouldn't have sinned? Instead, since He KNEW the outcome of our creation, He made us so that we did sin.

Seriously Christians, if you made a car from scratch and deliberately left the brakes off, would you have anyone to blame but yourselves when it crashed?

  • Definition of Atheism?

Is it the belief that there is nothing spiritual or metaphyisical in the world what so ever? i.e. No psychics, ghosts, telepaths or anything else and when we die we rot in the ground and nothing exists after...

Or, is it just not believing in any kind of deities?

  • Question for Christians?

Why is it that if a criminal killed my child, I'd have to forgive him, yet God would send me to hell just for lying about the size of a fish I caught. Unless, of course, I accepted Jesus as my savior, because only a blood sacrifice would clear me in the eyes of a merciful and infinitly loving God.

  • A lesson on beliefs?

What do you all think of this quote?

Do not believe in anything simply because you have heard it. Do not believe in anything simply because it is spoken and rumored by many. Do not believe in anything simply because it is found written in your religious books. Do not believe in anything merely on the authority of your teachers and elders. Do not believe in traditions because they have been handed down for many generations. But after observation and analysis, when you find that anything agrees with reason and is conducive to the good and benefit of one and all, then accept it and live up to it.

  • Freedom of Religion?

In the Pledge of Allegiance, would you rather have "under God." removed, or allow people to say "Under God/Gods/Goddess/Satan/ect" to be said? Just wondering how many of you know what freedom of religion really means.

  • a sign of the times.?

Over a thousand years ago, Christians were thrown to lions, burned alive, and murdered in the streets. No one was allowed to read a bible because only the priests could. Millions of people died horrible deaths over a lone period of time.

Now, we don't say the pledge because it has "under God." There is no prayer in school. People get called Jesus Freaks and are sometimes beat up. Oh, and lets not forget, sometimes a Christian's beliefs are called into question. People, especially on here, call it religious persecution, and its a sign of the end times. Can any Christians explain why NOW its a sign of the end times when it's not half as bad as it was?

  • To evolutionists?

The more I study evolution, the more confused I am. What causes it? A Triceratops evolves from protoceratops, getting facial horns and the neck shield curls forward to allow better head movement so it can fight. Ok, why didn't the protoceratops grow wings to fly away? Because it was too heavy and wings large enough would have been awkward and the amount of energy needed to power its flight would have been enormous. So, that would have been a poor adaptation. Why don't creatures grow scales instead of fur when it gets colder? Another poor adaptation. But what knew that? Some instinct in the creature's mind that knew how to alter the DNA of the offspring? I cannot fathom how evolution works without some kind of governing intelligance that is capable of factoring data of the enviroment and causing changes best suited to deal with the new enviroment. I'm not bringing this up to disprove evolutionists, I'm just wondering what the answer is.

  • Harry Potter vs the Bible?

Why do many Christians think Harry Potter is bad for Children?

I read a story about a young wiccan girl that was tormented by her classmates who trapped her in a corner chanting "Jesus loves you," and sang hyms to her in the hall between classes. The torment and loss of friends was enough to cause her to hang herself. But of course lets not forget the typical harassment from other Christians to non believers. Oh, and that little thing called the Inquisition? Yeah, that was a movement by the church, and alot of people died. Plus of course the witch trials in europe.

I'm not saying the Bible or all Christians are bad, but why is it if a kid reads Harry Potter or plays Dungeons and Dragons or Magic the Gathering, then becomes involved in the occult, it's because those are the tools of Satan, but when people DIE because of Christianity or the Bible, that's just human error? Can't Satan use the Bible for his purposes as well?

  • Mental issues?

Why are people completely addicted to confessing all thier emotional issues to others? I swear, if someone talks about being a bi polar skitzo with abandonment issues like it's a freaking badge of honor or an exclusive club, I'm going to be sick. Nothing wrong with issues, but what is the DEAL? You can't over come it so you brag about it? I guess my biggest problem is that the ones who talk most about their mental junk are the one's least likely to do anything about it. Take a pill already!!!!

  • A vicious cycle.?

Ok, we're not perfect, so we need Jesus. He died for us, and we must accept and love him. Yet, Jesus states that "If you love me, keep my commandments." How is it that Christians say "No, being forgiven doesn't mean that you can do what ever you want," when they all say they fall short everyday? If loving Jesus means keeping His commandments, and no one does, then who's saved? The Bible says over and over that we are only forgiven if we repent. Is the key to heaven through Jesus simply feeling bad about what you do?

  • The bible paradox?

Why do Christians point to the Bible to prove to non believers they're right? If someone believed in the Bible, I'm pretty sure that they'd already believe in God. Isn't the Bible more of an instruction guide for those who already believe, and that God Himself is what brings people to Him?

  • Creation and Salvation, a package deal?

Ok, I see way too much co dependancy in species to think it was just random. The ecosystems of our world are too delicate and precise to say it was just chance. I 100% believe we were created.

But by what? I ask a Christian and they'll happily start talking about Genisis, and then the rest of it. Why? Sure, I believe it could have only been made by a God, but is the Bible's interpritation of that God the only right one?

With all the questions I've asked about God's existance, people say "Look at the world around you, it is beautiful and therefore created, therefore the whole Bible is true!" To which I say, "I agree, it is beautiful, AND created, but what does that have to do with everything else?" The story of creation was only one book in the bible, and then only the first few chapters. How does the intricate balance of the planet prove Chirstians right about Jesus and the whole Bible? Doesn't EVERY religion have a creation story?
