  • What to bring to a meeting with a potential sponsor?

I have a blog which relates to a project I'm doing and I was recently approached by a company because they want to sponsor the project. I'm meeting with someone from the company and I want to know what I should bring with me. She didn't request I bring anything in particular, but I'm thinking blog stats and number of followers on social media would be a good start. Anything else I should know before I go?

  • College painting classes?

I have never done visual arts before, but recently I thought it would be fun to learn how to paint. I am an absolute beginner and I am not very good. I was going to take a non-credit acrylic painting class at the community college where I go to school, but I just found out that it is going to conflict with another class I have to take. So my only other option to take a painting class is to take a regular for-credit class. It's called ART 201-PAINTING I and even though it's 201, it's for beginners. But I'm worried it's going to be really hard/take up lots of time. I am a pre-nursing student and I'll be taking two other difficult classes so I don't want something that is going to consume a lot of time. I just want something fun. Does anyone have experience with a class like this? Or do you have any other suggestions?

I would just teach myself to paint, but my boyfriend says he thinks it'll be too messy/take up too much room here in our little apartment. I just want to do acrylic paints and not big paintings either. Ideas?

  • What can I do now to make my resume stand out as an RN?

I am a prenursing student right now and despite what the news says, I have heard that the job market for RN's is not as rosy as it's been made out to be, especially for new grads. I want to get a jump start on getting as much stuff on my resume that will stand out as I can. For example, I am in the process of beginning to volunteer at the biggest hospital in the state and I am learning a second language so hopefully I can be fluent before I finish school, but I want to know, what else can I do? Are there specific skills I should acquire, organizations I should be a part of, classes I should take?

    Thank you!

  • Volunteering while on CAT benefits?

I am in Washington State and am a full-time, unemployed student who was approved for Commissioner Approved Training (CAT) benefits. I'm a pre-nursing student so I would like to volunteer at the hospital but I don't know if this is permitted while on CAT benefits. Does anyone know? I know it's allowed while collecting regular unemployment benefits, but what about CAT benefits?

  • Poll: How high do you shave your legs, women?

How high do you shave your legs? I usually only shave to just above my knee but my boyfriend says that's weird and that most women shave their entire legs. I was just wondering who is right?

So do you shave the whole leg? Only the whole leg when you're wearing a swimsuit etc.? Just to above the knee like me? Or not at all?

  • How to get my character out of a dangerous situation?

So my main character in the book I'm working on is an FBI agent with all knowledge and skills appropriate. In the climax, she gets confronted at gun point by a murderer, which she is not expecting. I need a reasonably clever way for her to escape/capture our bad buy. Both characters are female, average height and moderate strength. The solution can involve something she did ahead of time to prepare herself for this possibility but she does need to be held at gun point at one point. Also, the solution can not come out of the blue (i.e. lightning, an earthquake) since I want her to solve the problem on her own. I'm just looking for clever escape plans that the reader may not see coming. I will be choosing a best answer, so give me your best thoughts.

  • Seahawks ticket prices?

So my boyfriend is a big Seahawks fan but we're not the richest folks in Seattle and he rarely gets to go to a game since they are pretty pricy. But I'm getting a sizable tax return this year and his birthday is in April so I'd really like to get him two tickets to a game. Now I am not a big football fan but I do realize that the season is not going on in April. I just checked on the Seahawks website and they aren't selling single game tickets for the 2011 season until August or so, so I think I'll just get him a Seahawks gift card for the amount of two tickets. But I'm having trouble finding out what that would be. I'm interested in getting decent seats but they don't have to be the best in the stadium. Could someone give me an idea what a seat like that would cost? Thanks!

  • I feel like I'm swallowing razor blades?

I have had the worst sore throat ever for about a week and a half now. My throat is super swollen and I can barely swallow. When I do swallow, it's so painful, it's excruciating. It hurts so bad it brings tears to my eyes and makes my toes curl. I can barely sleep, barely eat, barely drink anything and I can't really talk at all. I went to the ER a couple of days ago and they did a strep test and it was negative. The nurse told me it's just a bad cold and I'll just have to wait for it to go away. But it's getting worse and nothing helps. I've tried lemon honey tea, nyquil, dayquil, aspirin, advil, gargling salt water, popsicles, and they don't do anything for me. I'm at the end of my rope and I have very limited health insurance so I can't afford to go back to the doctor again. HELP

  • Steak and Lime Taco Marinade?

I have been seeing this commercial for Taco Bell's new taco with grilled marinaded steak, cilantro, onion and lime juice on a corn tortilla. I'd like to try making it at home because it looks easy but I need a good steak marinade. Something easy that will taste fresh but not boring and nothing too spicy. Any ideas?

  • If my bank closed my old checking account?

About a year ago, I was very stupid and allowed my checking account to go negative. By the time I realized that I needed to get it paid, the bank had closed the account due to insufficiant funds. I didn't realize it was going to be such a big deal but I'm afraid now that I won't be able to get another account at a bank because of it. So I was wondering is there any chance that I could get a bank to give me a second chance or is it just too late. Could I get a savings account or not any accounts? Because I'd be fine with just a savings account to build repute with a bank. Any suggestions or hints would be helpful.

  • Classic engagement rings with a bit of a twist?

The main characters in a book I'm writing are getting engaged. He has picked out the ring and I'm having trouble finding a picture of ring that fits my idea of what he would pick. He is a gentlemen, a bit old fashioned but he has a bit of a rebelious or smart *** streak, but only in a good way. She is a classic beauty and she would be the type to go for a very traditional ring. So I'm looking for a picture of a ring that is traditional or classic in most ways but has a bit of a twist off of the traditional. If you could send me links to pictures that would be great! Thanks!

  • What are your wacky Christmas traditions?

I am writing a book in which my characters share some of their weird and wacky Christmas traditions with each other. So I want to know yours! What are the weird things you do in your family around Christmas or on Christmas day?

  • For anyone who works at a gas station?

I know that there are tanks filled with gas under the gas station parking lot, but are the gas pumps electric or just a siphon? In other words, if the electricity was off, would you still be able to pump gas? If not, how do the covers on the gas tanks come off, do they have a key or do they just lift off? I'm not trying to steal gas in case you were wondering. I'm writing a post-apocolyptic novel in which my characters have to try to get some gas.

  • What machine do you use to dig a well?

I'm writing a book and my main characters and going to have to dig both a well and an outhouse near their yard. They have access to modern tools, however, so what kind of tool would someone use to dig a well? I'm thinking something besides a shovel for all of you out there who were going to say that. Some kind of power tool. I know a backhoe isn't right, but something along those lines.

  • Fallout shelters in Seattle?

I am writing a book in which my characters spend some time in a 1950's era fallout shelter so I am interested in finding one that I could go down into to experience for myself. I live in Seattle and I can't go too far out of the area but if there is one nearby, let me know. I know about the Green Lake one but as far as I can tell, it is not open to the public as well as not being anything like the size I'm looking for. I'm interested in one that would have been for one family not one for 200 people like the Green Lake one. I remember seeing a fallout shelter sign somewhere on a building in Capitol Hill but I can't find it or remember where it was. It may have just been the sign, I don't know if there was really a shelter there or not. Thanks for the help!

  • Mini laptop computers?

I need a new computer and I am looking into getting a mini-laptop, maybe something along the lines of Dell's Inspiron Mini 10 Netbook. I'm not very tech-savy, however, so I would like some advice on specific computers to look at.

What I need from a laptop:

Easily portable/lightweight: I need to be able to haul it around to work and back with me each day

Low cost: I'm on a budget with $800 being my upper limit although I'd like one more like $500

Can run Microsoft Word: I'm working on writing a book and that will be the main purpose of the laptop

Can do basic Internet surfing/connect to wireless internet

I'm not a gamer so speed is not an issue as long as it's not rediculously slow. Any photos/music I want on it I will just store externally so I'm not too worried about memory as long as I can store a few Word documents.

    Thanks so much!

  • "Selective Breeding" of humans?

Let's suppose that a group of genetic scientists wanted to selectively breed a small group of humans to great a "super race" by allowing some people to have children and not others. I'm not talking about anything racist; they are just trying to create a group of people with superior intellect and possibly desirable physical characteristics such as immunity to diseases and such. What sorts of characteristics would they be looking for in people to allow them to have kids? Nothing too hard to find because they have a small group (less than 100 people) with which to work.

This is for research for a novel I'm writing, in case you were wondering.

  • Hydroelectric Power Plants?

I'm wondering if anyone can give me a rough estimate of how long we would still have electricity, assuming our power came from a hydroelectric power plant, if no one was running the plant anymore. For example, if everyone in the world died today except one person, and that person walked into a random house powered by a dam on a river everyday and flipped the light switch, how long would the lights still come on.

Please let me know how you arrived at your conclusion, I need a fairly well educated guess, not just a number pulled out of the air. Thank you.
