  • My 8 month old nods her head whenever she gets happy or excited?

So, the title basically explains it. She has been doing this since gained proper control of her neck which was about 3 or 4 months. She just very quickly puts her chin to her chest. And when I do it too, she does its again. So it can keep going back and forth for quite a while. I wasn't concerned about it until just now when I googled it and it came up with tourette's syndrome :(.

  • Is it possible to have HPV without genital warts?

I got my first Pap Smear about 2 years which was a year after I got married. The test results said there was some low-grade squamous cells suggestive of HPV. However, I was a virgin when I got married and my husband is not the type to sleep around. We are both religious and my religion prohibits pre-marital sex. Not only that, all my life until present day I have never had a genital wart, neither has my husband.

When I got the positive result I had to see a specialist and she will manage this for now on. She also performed the second Pap Smear. She said it was more detailed than the first one, it was called thin-prep or something. Anyway she told me she will call me if the test is positive. It's been 4 months and she still hasn't called and I haven't got around to seeing her.

I also got the Gardasil vaccine when I was in high school, which was 1 year before I got married.

So my question is, is it possible to have HPV without the warts?

  • I have rats in my house but my conscience is getting the better of me!!?

I have rats in my kitchen, I know this because I hear them eating the wood and I can see where they have made a whole under the sink to come out at night eat my bread. I have a baby so I need the rats to be gone, but I can't bear setting a trap or baiting them. I'm going to bait them tonight but I feel so so guilty. How can I justify what I'm going to do and make peace with myself?

  • Is this an allergy to piercings?

My daughter got her ears pierced about 3 weeks ago. They have been really good thus far, no infections, not red at all, except for this morning when she woke up I noticed they were read and swollen, both sides and since then the swelling has gone down a bit but its gotten bumpy, like tiny pimples all over the ears, but only near the stud, and the back is red too.

I'm taking her to the doctor in about 30mins but just wanted opinions...

  • My baby cries whenever we go back home!!?

My daughter is 6 months old. She loves going outside and exploring the world. She loves sitting up in her pram and watching the people go about their day. But once we have finished at our destination and put her back in the car to come home she screams. She is inconsolable. I try to give her a dummy, she doesn't want it. I give her a bottle, she doesn't want it. I give her toys, she doesn't want them. It's distracting when I try to drive and she is screaming like that. The only time she does it is when we get in the car to go back home. Just driving around or driving TO the shops is fine, she is her normal happy self. This has been happening for around 2 weeks now. I'm wondering if its possible for her to know we are going home? And I want some ideas for comforting her when she gets like that. Also once we arrive at home and I get her out of the car she is a little whimpery but then she is fine.

    Any ideas?

  • How long until my daughter will start crawling?

My daughter is 6 and a half months old. She's got everything ready for crawling but doesn't actually crawl. She can roll really well (which is how she usually gets around) and put herself in a crawling position but when she is in position she doesn't go anywhere, she just rocks back and forth like one of those lizards lol. She has been at this stage for about 2 weeks without any further progress.

Based on the information given and your own experience, how long do you think until she might get the hang of crawling?

  • Does this electricity bill sound normal?

So I got my first electricity bill (I just moved out of home). The billing period is 3 months. So I will tell you a bit about my family. There are 2 adults and a 6 month old baby. Neither of the adults work, I'm a stay at home mum and my husband has a medical condition, so we are home most of the time. We have a 40 inch LCD TV, a small fridge, washing machine, Electric cooking, you know, the normal things.

Anyway, so for the whole 3 months we have used 3KWh. That equals about $45 with service charges and taxes.

    Does this sound right?

  • I get pain down the sides of my torso when someone touches me there, even lightly?

So, I get this bad pain whenever someone touches me anywhere between my armpits and my hips, but only on the sides, both sides. Just my husband pulling me towards him for a cuddle or kiss can leave me almost in tears. It basically feels as though there is a bruise so when someone touches me (or I bump into something) it hurts sooo bad and for a while afterwards. This has been happening for about 6 months, maybe a bit more. There are no bruises. It hurts from under my arms right down to my hips. Where my love handles are is the most painful area.

I was just wondering if anyone had something like this or knows about it. It really is painful and quite bizarre.

  • Has anyone else noticed this about Tony Abbott?

He just seems to complain all the time and spend all his time putting Julia Gillard down. I don't like Julia much either, but when the election campaign was running and it came time to talk about each parties promises and whatnot, I only heard Tony Abbott putting Julia down and none of his election promises and ended up voting labour.

I was just wondering if anyone felt the same?

  • Just wondering if this is normal in a 6 month old?

So I have a 6 month old daughter and about a month ago she started this arm flapping business. Its only her right arm and she just waves it around, mainly up and down, seemingly uncontrollably. If I give her a rattle she passes it to the right hand then does the arm waving and hits the rattle on her head which ends up in tears. I haven't noticed her doing it with her left arm at all. Is this all just part of the development of her motor skills or should I be concerned?

  • My 5 month old daughter holds her pee?

Basically she holds her pee until the moment her nappy comes off when I'm changing her. It doesn't happen all the time, mainly at night, but its getting much more frequent and starting to happen in the day too. At first it was just frustrating because all her clothes would get wet so I was going through a couple of outfits a day, but now I'm wondering if there something that is triggering this, perhaps something psychological. Has anyone ever heard of this, should I seek medical advice?

  • Question about anti-perspirant deoderant?

My question is would somebody who uses anti-perspirant deoderant be more at risk of getting heat stroke on a hot day compared to somebody who didn't use anti-perspirant deoderant?

Obviously you sweat to regulate your internal body temperature, so would inhibiting this funtion impair the body's ability to maintain a healthy core temperature?

  • Would it be irrational and silly to yell at these people?

Ok, so ever since I had my daughter (first child) 4 months ago I have been continuously appalled at the disrespect of other people towards a woman with a pram. The majority of incidents have occurred with lifts and trains. One thing that happened with a lift was, as you know with a pram it is very difficult to use stairs so me and my hubby got the lift. There were people pushing and shoving to get into the lift and one man decided he was going to get in too. Mind you all these people using the lift were not disabled in any way. So he pushed in and consequently I got shoved out. My hubby stayed in with the pram and baby and then the lift doors wouldn't close because there were too many people in the lift. This guy then tell my husband to get out and catch the next one. GRRRR just thinking about it makes me want to ring his neck. Anyway my hubby kindly told him to bugger off and I had to use the stairs.

The second thing was on a train. Again, no disabled passengers but using the disabled peoples seats and I was forced to stand up while trying to feed my baby her bottle on a moving train. I kept looking at a young man who looked fit and well enough to stand and he just stared right back at me. I was going to tell him that I hoped he was proud of himself for forcing a mother who was feeding her child to stand up on a moving train but I chickened out.

Anyway, so the point of the question is, is this lack of respect for parents with prams universal or am I just unlucky? Have you ever spoken out, if so what did you say, if not what would you say?

    Thanks :)

  • Can I refrigerate a pre-baked pastry shell?

Im going to cook a chicken pie for dinner tonight but I'm going out this afternoon and won't have time when I get home to fiddle around with making the pastry, so I was wondering if I could bake the pastry now, keep it in the fridge until I get home then cook the rest of the pie... what do you think?

  • Where do I insert SD card in acer smartphone? ?

The title is pretty self explanatory. Not sure on the exact model of the phone (I got it from an auction with no box), but it's an acer smartphone and its touch screen but also has the qwerty keyboard.

  • YAZ.. Did it work for you? What are you're experiences?

I'm having a really hard time at the moment. I've been on Yaz for almost 3 months and its really draining me emotionally. I feel depressed all the time, have absolutely no libido, am extremely moody, losing my hair and starting to get mild anxiety attacks.

I was just reading a forum on the drug and it says that after 3 months of using it the side effects go away. Was this true for you? If its true I might consider sticking it out.

So just share your experiences, good or bad... it will be greatly appreciated. Thanks :)

  • Any similar experiences whilst taking YAZ?

I gave birth to my gorgeous daughter in May, and at my 6 week check up with my gyno I asked to be prescribed the contraceptive pill and she gave me Yaz. Since then I have been suffering terrible mood swings, irritability, complete loss of libido and depression. I feel horrible all day long and seem to mope all the time. My husband and I are arguing all the time (we used to be really close, we've never had trouble before). As you know I have a 4 month old daughter, so its not good for her with all the tension between us. I never want to do anything other than eat, so as you can imagine I have stacked on a lot of weight, so that contributes to my ill-feelings towards myself. It only dawned on me yesterday when I was watching a medical show on TV that was talking about contraceptive methods and they mentioned that some pills can cause mood swings. It was like a lightbulb moment. So did anyone else suffer the same side-effects whilst taking Yaz? If you did, did you switch, what to, and was it effective?

    Thanks..

  • My sister thinks I'm a bad mother... how do I tell her to back off?

...without punching her in the face lol.

I'm 21 and have a 7 week old daughter. My sister is 16 and lives with my grandparents and has come to visit for 2 weeks as its school holidays. Anyway, yesterday my baby was a little bit whingy and she said maybe she needs a nappy change. I said not yet, she's not due for about 20mins. Anyway, she went ahead and changed her nappy and found that my daughter had pooped a little (I couldn't smell it so it mustn't have been much) and then she came out calling me a ***** for letting my child sit in her own ****. Then she was talking behind my back to my mum about how bad of a mother I was. Then this morning she accused me of being unhygienic because I didnt bathe my daughter for a 'week' which is more like 5 days. The reason being is its the middle of winter here in Australia so I don't want her to get sick. She couldn't have known this information by herself, which means my mum is also talking behind my back.

What can I do? What would you do in the same situation? My daughter is healthy, is a healthy weight and I don't believe I neglect her. I do everything I can to make sure she is happy and healthy (as every mother does). Opinions please...

  • In your opinion, what is the most convenient/reliable form of birth control...?

...BESIDES ABSTINENCE!! I gave birth 3 weeks ago and am certainly not planning on getting pregnant again anytime soon (although I love my daughter more than the world... one is enough for now). I will be seeing my gyno in 3 weeks for a check-up and plan on discussing this with her, but I wanted the opinions of other women. What worked best for you and what didnt?

Since I got married we were trying for a baby and it took 3 years so I was never trying to prevent pregnancy so I don't have any experience on this subject.

    Thanks :)
