  • Are there any casting materials that are soft, bouncy, and easily dyed?

I want to make bouncy balls and other geometric shapes, but a lot of home recipes or kits I've looked into for that specific purpose don't work very well so I've turned to the possibility of using molds and casting. I've never done it before, though.

Is there a casting material that will yield a result like the texture and bounciness of a rubber ball? I would love if it was clear so it could be colored and had the capability for me to mix in glitter or other additives, but I obviously don't know how casting works so maybe that can't be done either way.

    Thanks for your help!

  • Will Claire's ear piercing cleaner be effective for safely cleaning a septum piercing?

I got my ears pierced a second time about six months ago at Claire's, and stopped using the ear cleaning solution that came with it after about three days because I got lazy. I still have it, though, and I want to get a septum piercing soon. Obviously I will be more diligent about cleaning this one since it is a higher risk area. The shop I'm going to have it done at sells the solution separately for like $15, so to avoid the expense I was wondering if my leftover ear piercing solution from Claire's is even still good after 6 months and if it is the same stuff they use to clean a septum piercing. Thanks!

  • Windows 7 Ultimate "OEM" activation help/where to take to manufacturer?

I received a computer for free from a community center and was not given the Windows installer CD box or any information about its manufacturer. It is running Windows 7 Ultimate. A few days ago I received the update notice for Windows 10 and began the update process. As it was installing my computer shut down, and when I turned it back on it restored back to Windows 7 and said the copy was not genuine, so I used cmd to reset the licensing status of the computer ("easy fix" found on the internet).

Now I tried to update to Windows 10 again (the Get Windows 10 app is missing now so I used the manual download) and it says my Windows 7 isn't activated. I used produkey to find the key number but when I type it in it gives me error code 0xC004E003. It also has a weird thing that says "0 day until automatic activation."

I called Microsoft support for help and they said because I have an OEM system they can't do anything and I need to take it to the manufacturer to have them activate it.

    Any advice on fixing this?

If not, where is the "manufacturer" I need to take it to? Would that be an official Windows/Microsoft store or could I take it to GeekSquad at Best Buy?

    Thank you!

  • What should I do if I ordered items off eBay and received too many?

I ordered some very small glass bottles for an art project off eBay--the listing said 10 for $4. When I got my package, there were 50 inside. I checked and made sure I didn't make multiple orders by mistake. I don't mind having extras at all, in fact I would love to be able to keep them, but I want to be sure that I can safely use them all and sell them (which I plan on doing soon) without the risk of being obligated to return them.

Am I legally required to contact the seller or return these items, whether or not the seller asks me to?

  • What are some stereotypes about children?

I'm doing a project that has to address a stereotype and mine is directed toward children, prabably 8-13 years of age. I've considered using the presumption that most/all children are loud and obnoxious, or constantly seeking attention from others. What are some others that could work?

  • What percentage of/how many animal shelters in the United States keep records of animal intake, euthanasia, adoptions, etc?

I need this statistic for a project ASAP, but I can't find it anywhere--all people say is "most animal shelters don't keep records". Can someone find an actual number please? THANKS!!

  • Why would movies cast a character's speaking voice different from its singing voice?

Obviously if the speaking voice can't sing they'll cast a singer to do musical numbers, but then why not have the singing voice do the speaking lines too, then? I assume it has something to do with the cost of hiring a singer for doing more than singing, but maybe there's something I'm not taking into consideration.

  • Where can I buy 1/4 inch cable cord for making a bag?

I'm using this sewing tutorial to make a bag {http://bagntell.wordpress.com/2012/05/06/convertib... and one material it calls for is 1/4inch diameter cable cord for reinforcement and giving shape to the bag. I checked at a sewing store and they only had cotton-type cords, so I'm thinking this is something not usually used in sewing projects or it's just harder to find. Does anyone know where I can buy something like this? I only need 1.5 yards, so I'd prefer not to buy much of it or spend a lot of money on it. Thank you!

  • how did arendelle freeze over in disney's frozen?

I wasn't very impressed with Frozen--it had too much in some places and still managed to leave some loose ends. One thing I'm confused about is how Arendelle actually became covered in ice and snow as if it was winter in the middle of summer. Obviously I'm not expecting a perfectly realistic, real-world applicable explanation, but I'm confused as to when the crucial beginning moment of the "eternal winter" was.

In the movie, several characters comment that when Elsa froze the fjord by running across it into the woods, that froze the town. But it was already snowing at this point; the very first moments that snow begins to fall is right after Elsa accidentally freezes the fountain, which I thought had shot some kind of ice cloud in the sky or something but after watching it again it only froze the water. And then by the time she is up on the mountain the entire ground is covered in several inches of snow.

Did I miss something crucial to the storyline or is it really ambiguous in the first place?

  • What is the name of this manga series?

I once read the introduction to a manga series featured in Shonen Jump or a similar magazine about a red-haired robot who I believe was also a superhero, and I'm trying to remember the name of it. The intro had a building that was about to blow up or something, and the spiky red-haired robot guy saved the day somehow. Then later there's a school kid who goes into some shop and sees the superhero robot as a doll/toy and says its name and it comes to life. At one point in it there was also a black-haired version of the main superhero character guy, and that's really all I can remember. Sorry for the vague-ness, but can anyone name the manga based on that? Thank you!

  • Best place to buy window tint film for cheap?

I want to buy window tint in a very small amount, just enough to cover a piece of 9x12 inch plexiglass, but I've only found it in rolls that are like 3x5 ft and cost $20. I don't want to pay more than around $8 for it, and I need it within three days for a Halloween costume. I'd prefer to use window tint film but I could use spray-on tint if it works and makes it so you can see through one side of the glass but not the other. Thanks!

  • Please help me by answering this survey! Any age, gender, race, etc.?

I'm doing a survey for a Health project for school. I need lots of answers ASAP! Anyone of any age, gender, race, religion, etc. can answer. When I use the results for my project, the sources will be completely anonymous; all I would like is that you include your age with your answer. If you're not comfortable with that, you can just include if you are in the age group of Middle School (11-13), High School/College (14-25), Adult (26-55), or Older Adult (56+).

The survey is about teen behaviors, but once again, I need answers from all ages. You don't need to elaborate on or explain your answer if you don't want to. Please remember to include your age or age group with your answers. Thank you so much!

    Questions:

    1. Rate the following in order of importance, or how much of a problem they are in your community:

-teenage substance abuse (drinking, smoking, drugs, etc.)

    -teen pregnancy

    -teen violence/crime

    -eating disorders in teenagers

    -rape

    2. On a scale of one to five, with one being never and five being very frequently, how often did you when you were a teenager or do you now feel like you are pressured by others to partake in a behavior that you don't feel comfortable with? (If answer is other than one, simply state what behavior you're referring to.)

    3. What factor(s) do you believe contribute to negative teen choices in your community?

    4. How do you think people in your community can help prevent negative teen choices and behaviors?

    5. Do you think that a lack of decision-making skills and/or the inability to say no is a driving force behind negative choices in teenagers?

  • Which of these books are the best?

I have to do a summer reading assignment over two of these books. I plan to research the plot of each one, and I know that personal preference has a lot to do with it, but has anybody read all/some of these books and can name the two that they prefer, or just recommend/not recommend? I just don't want to end up reading one that a lot of people say is long, boring, etc.

The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath

The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger

The Color Purple by Alice Walker

Go Tell It on the Mountain by James Baldwin

The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini

Member of the Wedding by Carson McCullers

    My Antonia by Willa Cather

The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver

A Yellow Raft in Blue Water by Michael Dorris

    Thank you very much!!

  • Should I buy a 1st generation iPad now?

I know it's quite outdated now, as far as an iPad goes, but my dad wants to buy me a belated Christmas present and the budget is around $200. I was looking at tablets, and I could easily get a used iPad 1 off ebay for that price.

On the other hand, the Nexus 7 has caught my eye as well. Here's the thing, though: I'm not super interested in having the best screen resolution or the fastest core processor out there. I own an iPod Touch, but I'd still like to be able to use Apple's app store for iPad to a great extent if I end up purchasing one, because the Android app store doesn't sound too great.

Although I want to be able to use apps, my greatest use for the tablet would likely be easy internet use.

As far as screen size, I don't think the great difference between the two would be a huge factor in choosing one over the other.

    Bottom line, tell me:

Can a 1st generation iPad, upgraded to the newest possible iOS, run a fair amount of current App Store apps?

Is the Nexus 7/Android app store as bad as it sounds; is the new-ness of the Nexus 7 worth giving up Apple's app store?

OR should I wait until I can get a newer device such as the iPad Mini refurbished for less?

    Any help is appreciated!

  • Best fabric to make a peaked/officer's cap?

I'm planning to use this tutorial (http://brassgoggles.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,25... to make a peaked cap, like the ones police officers wear, but it doesn't specify a fabric to use. I want to make one cap in black and one in white, but they don't have to be in the exact same fabric, so long as the hat is stable and the material looks good. Thanks!

  • Best beginner sewing machine under $80?

I know this has been asked before, but every answer I've found just advises to go to a store and shop around for what the machine will be used for. I would like a specific make and model on a good beginner's sewing machine at or under $80. It doesn't need to handle really heavy-duty material, only stuff like fleece and felt and quilting fabric.

I've never used a sewing machine before, but I've done much hand-sewing in the past several years. The machine wouldn't need to have many complicated stitches, just the basics. Also, I would prefer if it didn't require too much maintenance, as I've heard some older models need to be oiled, etc.

$80 or less is the ideal price for a new machine, as I've heard that buying a beginner machine on eBay or craigslist is not ideal, but I'm also welcome to suggestions for slightly higher-priced models if I can shop around online.

    Thanks!

  • How many ounces in one Ghirardelli baking bar square?

The recipe I'm using calls for 4 ounces (120 grams) chopped baking chocolate. The packaging says the entire baking bar, 8 squares, is 4 ounces, 113 grams, but it appears that some say one square of chocolate is equivalent to 1 ounce. How many ounces are in a single square of Ghirardelli baking chocolate?

  • Is 2 eggs + 4 egg whites too much for cupcakes?

The recipe I'm using calls for 4 egg whites and then 2 whole eggs, but it never says when to add the eggs into the recipe before baking! I can't tell if it's a typo and I should add the 2 eggs with everything else, or perhaps it means to use 2 whole eggs only if 4 egg whites aren't handy. It's too late to choose a different recipe now! Does 2 eggs + 4 egg whites in a cupcake recipe sound correct?

    Here's the recipe: http://www.cupcakerecipes.com/vanillarecipe.htm

  • Why do people say it's better to try and fail than to never try?

That sounds kind of silly to me. Like, I would rather get a failing grade on a school assignment by not turning one in at all and not trying over trying my hardest but it still be so bad that I get an F. That would obviously make me feel awful, when I could have just not turned the thing in, not have tried, not have hurt my confidence, and be no worse off.

So why do people tell me it's better to fail than to not try when I don't attempt to do something I know I won't succeed at, like drawing a picture or writing a story?
