  • How to monogram with regular sewing machine ...?

I am very new to sewing and I have a brother ls-2521i sewing machine. I am looking to start to get into embroidery but first want to try monogramming and see if it's what I really wanna do. My question to those seasoned sewers, is it possible to monogram with a regular non-embroidery machine? Thanks for any help! And sorry for such a 'newbie' question.

  • Does anyone know where i can find a project from Better Homes and Gardens online?

I tried their website, but can't seem to find it. I am looking for the project that was a false-back shadow box that you can put an electric power strip in the back of to keep your phone chargers and such in? We had it but threw it out before we could copy that project down. I've looked online and can't seem to find it - anyone have any ideas how i can find? BHG.com doesn't have the dec 06 issue in archive yet.

    Thanks!

  • Can somebody recommend a good way to organize my jewelry box?

This weekend i started with my 'get organized' resolution. When i tried to organize my jewelry box, it ended up looking worse. I have one of those 3-drawer armoire things. I put my earrings in the one drawer and they are all just in a pile. Is there any kind of organizer or anything that works good for you to organize jewelry?

    Thanks ;)

  • Headache Question - Sorry, I know there are tons!?

Question for those who suffer migraines. Friday AM i was clearing my throat and ended up gagging myself - i have a VERY SENSTIVE gag reflex - anyway - as it was AM and i had nothing in my stomach - i was retching pretty hard and just white foamy stuff came up - i'm assuming the nasal drainage i was trying to clear. Anyway - when i stood up (i was hovering over my sink b/c i wasn't near the toilet when this happened) i had the worst headache i'd ever had - my face was bright red - i assume from all the blood rushing to it and my sinuses too - anywho - the headache lasted for about 5 minutes - i blew my nose about 5 times and each time it eased the pressure in my head. After the headache intensity subsided, i had this dull achy head all day - it went way Saturday but Sunday it was back but just in the back of my head on the left side - nothing helped it but lying down in the dark room. Today it's just dull - not sure if it's tension from retching or a migraine - anyone?

  • Can somebody help me figure out what a "barbie chair" is?

At work we have an elementary school gift exchange for the school we adopt each year. This year the child i received is asking for a dora toy - which i get - but she is also asking for a barbie chair. I don't have kids or anyone close with girls that i can ask. Is this a chair to sit in or is it a doll toy? Anyone with a little girl who likes barbie - any suggestions / advice? I know they have those little recliner chair things with licensed characters on it - but i'm just clueless - any help would be appreciated! Thanks much!

  • What are my rights regarding the sale of a house?

I asked this a few months ago and the issue has resurfaced.

In April we put our house up for sale b/c we were relocating for jobs out of state. While we were getting the house ready, our window started to leak. We DISCLOSED this information on the sale / disclosure form and also noted we were "talking to a contractor". A friend of our neighbor was a contractor, came out, looked, couldn't find anything wrong with it - pulled off the siding and found something that needed to be caulked. He caulked it and we had no more leak. This was mid April. It rained and the window didn't leak again. We sold the house - they paid for a home inspector to come look at it - the house passed inspection - they ASKED for nothing - no guantee, no warranty not even proof it was fixed. We put off settlement to the end of may due to logistics assoc'd with our move and all the rain we had it never leaked again.

Fast fwd to August - rements of a tropical storm came thru with heavy rains and

  • Does anyone here take cymbalta for their GAD?

I had a TIA this summer which has caused a bit of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and my GAD to flare up. My NP just gave me an RX for Cymbalta. I trust her 200% but have not really heard too much about it used with GAD? Does anyone here take it for that and have you had good results?

I have done my research on the medication which has led me to ask about it's use with GAD. I also understand that everyone will react differently to the med but just was curious how it is working in general on the average for folks.

For me, after my TIA, i have this fascination with my body now - every little ache and pain i stress out over b/c the blood clot that caused the TIA started out as a headache i had put off as stress-related. So, i spend 90% of my day worrying about my aches and pains and looking stuff up on the net which is driving me crazy - she seems to think this will help me at least jump start the PTSD to subside.

Thanks and i appreciate ur time and effort

  • Has anyone taken the Civil PE exam - are there any good sites with practice questions?

My boyfriend is taking his PE Exam on Friday in Jackson, Mississippi. He has spent the last six months doing nothing but working and studying. His job was nice enough to block him off the schedule this entire week so he can study at work since they are paying for it. Anyway has anyone seen any good practice exam sites? He has gone from page 1 to the end of about 3 different books the past six months and i thought he could try some sample ?s this week to convince him he is ready! Just thought i'd see if anyone has found any good sites with practice questions or sample questions. I've searched yahoo! and google but don't know if i am searching correctly b/c i can't find anything! Thanks in advance!

  • Can somebody troubleshoot a powerpoint issue?

I have a mysterious problem with my slides that started about 2 weeks ago. I have several “standard” slides I use for a variety of presentations and all of a sudden the fonts changed! I went in and “fixed” the fonts and saved the presentation by adjusting the master slide. When i re-opened the document, the fonts defaulted to Times New Roman or Tahoma from Ariel. No matter what I do to the slides, I cannot change the font and make it stick. Not only that but the justification in text boxes changes to left from center. Any ideas as to what's happening?

I have a pretty good grasp of computer literacy, but this is just bugging the heck out of me and thought some outside eyes may recongize some little quirk i'm overlooking.

At home, in Philly, one of the 80-something channels, i think 88.6 or 86.8, something along those lines, broadcasted abc on the radio. Do you know if they have anything similar down in the Memphis, TN, Southaven MS area? Thank you!

  • We sold our house in April and now the buyers are calling ...?

We lived in that townhouse for four years - the spring it was for sale, one of the windows decided to leak. We disclosed the leaky window on the disclosure form and also told the realtor we were in the process of having it fixed.

We had a guy come look at it - he tore the siding back, found the problem and recaulked - then replaced the siding and we had no problems. Paid him in cash - and that was that - also that was APRIL!

We have since moved 1000 miles away, new address, new phone numbers etc. Well, the hurricaine that went thru Philly brought a ton of rain with it and a leaky window to our old house. We still keep in touch with our old neighbor and he told us that the new neighbors were "livid" that the window was leaking and that they were going to 'go after us' over it. That was the end of August and we never heard a word. Our old neighbor told us they got it patched and that was good enough - tonite i get an email forwarded from the woman who bought our house to the

  • Can anyone sew - i need some ideas ...?

Hiya! Just got some really pretty ribbon - don't know why i bought it - it was just pretty and i figured i could do something with it - any ideas what i can do with it?

I bought a pair of 2T jeans off of ebay and was thinking i could embellish them for my neighbor's daughter. (she complains she can't find anything jean's-wise for her 6 year old that have a high waist and straight legs - so she buys boys jeans for her and thinks they aren't femimine looking, funny, i know - lol - anyway, i figured i'd try with something small - i.e., her 2 year old)

I thought i could put some trim with ribbon? Is that about what you use the ribbon for? I am looking to take a class at Michael's, but in the meantime, thought i'd check with the creative folks here! I can knit and crochet but my sewing skills are non-existent. I am lucky i can sew buttons onto pants. Thanks - have a good nite - happy friday tomorrow!

  • How do i remove cat urine from a drywall and cement floor?

Last nite while decorating the house for fall, I accidentally locked the cat in the garage all nite. She didn't seem to mind as it was 'new territory' for her to explore, but she did use the 'potty' in the storage room of the garage. She peed in the corner so it went on on the floor, but alsol seeped down the wall into the cement below it (the storage room is a stop up from the rest of the garage) - we have a bunch of ferrel cats in the neighborhood and we leave the garage door up when we are home - we are now afriad if we dont get Rug's urine completely off the wall that the ferrel cat that comes to visit her will try and cover it up. Any ideas? Thanks much!
