  • Feelings on MMR vaccine.?

First off, I know there is no link between Autism and the MMR vaccine. I used to work in Pediatrics so I know all about that stuff, this is not about that. Now, I semi vaccinate my son. He didn't have his first Hep B in the hospital, but is since caught up. He did not receive the Influenza vaccine or the Rotovirus. He will not be getting the Varicella (Chickenpox) either. I am on the fence about MMR though. Like I said I worked in Peds so I have seen kids get the MMR and be fine, and kids not get it and be fine. I have also seen kids come in with the actual disease. They were all fine, and had no issues. I just can't deiced if I really want him to get it or not. For those that didn't get it, do you regret it? I really don't want to be lectured about how I need to vaccinate my son, you telling me that won't change my mind. I just want opinions on those who didn't get it, or those who were in my shoes and thought about it. Thanks!

  • Possible pregnancy or just a cold?

So the past week I haven't been feeling all that great. The past 2 days I hade had really bad headaches, and last night I was nauseous, and then today I was like super tired. I had my period last month like excepted on the 13th. About 1 1/2 weeks later I had some spotting. It was really light pink, only happened a few times when I wiped. I have an 8 month old so and I am sexual active still, unprotected (pull out method) I know there is still a chance for pregnancy which is making me wonder. I will get a test in the next week or so if AF doesn't show. Just wanted to get thoughts on it. I never had this kind of stuff with my first. Also, idk if it's related, but my sex drive is like back in full force since I got pregnant. Anywho, thanks ladies!

  • Weird spotting? Anyone experience this?

So yesterday I had some really light pink spotting and it only lasted a few hours. Does anyone think this is implantation? I really don't know. I never had it with my son. My LMP was 12/13-12/18 which is normal for me. I have always been very normal. My SO and I have had unprotected sex (pull out I know not 100%) and I am not on bc. I will test if I miss my period. Just wanted to know if you all think it's implantation since I never had it before. Thanks ladies!

  • Re-post. Opinions please. Not really sure...?

So I had some light spotting today. I am always VERY regular. My LMP started 12/13 and ended 12/18 (which is normal for me). I am not on any birth control, but he does pull out. I know not 100% but he's against condoms and it's worked so far. Please don't judge. Anywho. So today I had some really light pink spotting. Usually when I get my period the first day is really heavy and gets lighter with each day. So do you guys think this is implantation, just normal spotting or what? I also do have an 8 month old son, who is not breastfed. I never had implantation bleeding with him. I will wait a few days and see what happens, if I don't get a full blown period I will def test, but just wanted some thoughts. Thanks ladies!Oh, I was a little moody today, but I do have my days. Other than that I haven't noticed an other symptoms. With my son I didn't get symptoms until I was 6 weeks.

  • Might Have RSV? HELP!?

So my poor baby who will be 8 months on the 1st has been sick for like a month. Fist they said it was viral, give him some Triaminic, so I did. Didn't get better, 2 weeks later went back. Did a chest x-ray said it was pneumonia and gave him an antibiotic and I have been doing breathing treatment. Which brings be to today. He went in for his follow up, his cough was better but in the past 2 days got worse again. They did an RSV test on him sad I won't get the results back until tomorrow. He said that if it's positive a few things will be set in motion but didn't really tell me what would happen. Looking to my fellow mommies for some help here. What happens if it's positive? Anyone else have a baby that had this? I'm sure he will be ok. Is it contagious? Just looking for some answers here ladies. Any other input or anything about this would be really helpful. Thanks! OH! And so they decided to give him a Hep B shot, since he was behind, and he got a fever (he never gets fever from shots) I did give him Tylenol, but how do I know if it's from the shot or from him being sick?

  • Baby Modeling........?

So recently I have thought about looking into baby modeling for my son. He is such a good picture taker and always really happy. Obviously I am his mom, but he is just so darn cute in his pictures! Does anyone have any advise, tips or stories to help me with this. I don't want to get him all into it doing it all the time, but I think it would be interesting to look into. Thanks ladies! I would post some pics but I don't want to be one of those mom's that's just looking for compliments on how cute my kid is lol. Anywho! Thanks in advance!

  • How long until you were "initiated"?

This is more for mom's with sons. My son is 7 months, and I have yet to be "initiated". His dad, nana and aunt have been. I guess I've been really lucky. So how long did it take for you?

  • Right handed or left?

So my son seems to prefer his left hand, he is 7 months. When did your LO start to have a hand preference, and did it stay? I don't care if he's left handed, I could care less either way, I was just wondering :)

  • Need Prayers Please!!!?

I am just simply asking everyone to pray for my little baby cousin. He is really sick and needs a lot of prayers. He has a heart condition, and was doing good at home. He suddenly took a turn for the worst and is in the PICU. He wasn't supposed to have his first heart surgery until Feb. but not needs it as soon as he is stable. He is only 2 months old and has a really long hard fight ahead of him. If you can just please pray that he pulls though it would be greatly appreciated. Thank You!

  • What do you think of this girl name?

Starlynn (star-lynn). I like more unique names but nothing out of the ordinary. My son's name is Carter James. Would it go good with his name or no? The other name I love is Ella Lynn. What do you think?

  • Anybody hate the phrase...?

"baby daddy" or "baby mama"? I can't stand it! It bothers me so much. It's your son or daughter's father/mother. I think it's so disrespectful to say "baby mama/daddy". I may say it once or twice as a joke to my SO, but never in public or around anyone else. Anyone else bothered by the phrases? Or is it just me? It seems like it's all these younger kids that have children that refer to their child's other parent like that. Sorry it just bothers me.

  • Labor with baby #2....?

So I'm not pregnant yet, but my hubby and I were talking about baby #2. We want to start trying when our son is 2, he is almost 7 months now. We figure 3 years is a good difference. Anyways, I was curious about the labor. I know everyone is different as is every pregnancy. My first labor was only 3 1/2 hours, went into labor naturally and had a natural birth. I know they say your second usually goes faster, but how much faster can it get? Just curious is all. Thanks ladies <3

  • Compensation for surrogacy question?

Does anyone have any experience with surrogacy? I posted yesterday about wanting to be a surrogate, I know how hard it will be and everything like that. My main questions is about compensation. I am by no means wanting to do it solely for the money. I would like to be compensated for what my body will be going through. I live in Michigan. I have looked up some information about surrogacy here. They do have a law against contracts. The law states all surrogacy agreements, regardless of the sexual orientation of the individuals involved, are prohibited by law in Michigan. Michigan has very strict laws prohibiting surrogacy contracts. State law not only holds these agreements unenforceable, but also imposes fines (up to $50,000.00) and jail time (up to five years) on anyone who enters into such a contract. So how would I go about getting compensated. By all means I would not change my mind, I know it will be hard, but I wouldn't do that to someone. Would it more be of an under the table kind of thing? What if we have an agreement, and they fall through on the money aspect. I do plan on going through a facility, but since my state has strict laws about a contract what are some ways around it? I also thought maybe about donating my eggs instead, anyone done that? Would that be a better idea? Thanks All!

For anyone that has been a surrogate, how did it feel to give someone the gift of life they never thought they would have?

  • Thinking about being a surrogate?

So lately I have been thinking about being a surrogate for a couple. I don't have a couple in mind specifically, but in general. I have always told other people have a child for yourself first, then think about doing it for someone else. I had my son almost 7 months ago, and would love to give the gift of life to someone who is unable to do it on their own. Does any one know how I would go about finding a couple? Do I sound crazy? I loved being pregnant and I love being a mom. I couldn't imagine not being able to have children, it would kill me. Since I had a great pregnancy and great labor/birthing experience, I would love to give a couple in need the same thing that we have. Any info or input would be nice. No negativity please.

  • Feeling guilty, anyone else feel like this?

So I know by all means I'm not a bad mommy. I love my son he is my world. I just feel guilty because of his formula. Not that he is on formula, just the brand. He has been on Similac ever since he was born. He did great on it. Ever since the whole recall it's been so hard to find the powder. I was buying the concentrated for a while when I couldn't find the powder, but he went through that like crazy. He drinks a 7oz bottle every 6 hours or so. So buying the smaller can of powder became very expensive. I decided to buy the Meijer brand, because you get so much more for your money. Now I'm sure they are all just the same as they have strict guidelines for infant formula. I just feel guilty that he isn't on the brand name as he has been all along. Anyone else feel like this? Did you eventually get over it, or do you still feel that way?

  • When should I take him to the ER?

So my 6 month old woke up sick today :( He was crabby and had a runny/crusty nose. I took his temp it was 102. Gave him some medicine and he was fine. He went to bed, I went to check on him and he seemed extra warm. I took his temp and it was 104.1 :( I did just give him some medicine again. He is in warm pj's and did have blankets on. I took the blankets off and am going to take his temp again here soon. He really didn't eat much today either, maybe 2 7oz bottles and would not eat his pears. He is always a good eater. At what point should I take him to the ER? I am going to take him if he still has a temp in a few when I check. Should I just take him now? Should I take him even if his temp goes down? Thanks ladies!

  • Doctors are on different pages. When did you...?

give your baby juice? So 2 months ago I went to my son's well baby appointment. His office has 2 doctors, which is fine I don't mind. So at his 4 month appointment (he is 6 months as of yesterday) she told me start him on cereal and veggies. 5 months he should be on fruits and 6 months start juice. Which is fine, I don't want people to say he shouldn't have started food until 6 months. So I went to his appointment today, saw a different doctor. This doctor told me not to start juice until 1 year, and said I should stop. He said he sees no nutritional value in him having juice now, and that is will make him less hungry. I have been giving him juice, he likes it. Sometimes he gets a little thirsty, and drinks like an oz and then doesn't want more, only wanted some because he was thirsty. So when did you start them on juice? I was thinking about keeping him on it, since he likes it and is doing good. I know it's going against doctor's advise, but he has been fine on juice. Thanks!

  • 6 month appointment tomorrow, what to ask about?

First off, Happy Halloween to everyone :) So my son is going to be 6 months tomorrow, and has his appointment. Any tips on things I should ask about. I know every baby is different. Just a little about him developmentally. He has 2 teeth (I will ask about brushing), he can sit on his own, pull himself to stand, he says 4 words, he is so close to army crawling lol. He can hold his own bottle and has had all of his first foods. I think he might have had an allergy to bananas, so I am asking about that, also asking about 2nd foods. I also am going to ask about where he should be developmentally, just to get an idea. Any one have anything else I might want to ask about :) Thanks and enjoy your candy!
