  • Question regarding Jehovah Witnesses beliefs?

My son has newly adopted Jehovah Witness as a religion. I find some of the JW beliefs questionable, and want to know if the Jehovah's Witness church will encourage him to go against the belief system he was raised and tell him to simply "excommunicate" his family for not agreeing with this doctrine? I know he is a man and can make his own decisions, but what weight does this religion have as far as telling him we (his parents) are "sinners and are worldly" because we are not JW. We are Christian/non-denominational. Thanks.

  • Are cat eye glasses in style?

I ordered a vintage pair of cat eye glasses and absolutely love them! When I showed them to my husband he said, "Are you serious??" I am reluctant to wear them around him now because I don't want to look unattractive to him. Am I being too self conscious? I really like them though. They are 12K gold with a really pretty design on them and very good quality. Just wondering what other women think about that style.

  • Does anyone have advice or experience treating H. Pylori infection in stomach?

Hi, I have consulted with two different doctors regarding an infection I have called H. Pylori in the stomach. My general practitioner put me on a series of antibiotics and an acid reducer. I also found out I have a gallbladder issue as well and after many different tests, she referred me to a surgeon for gallbladder surgery. Once I met with the surgeon she thought it would be best to change my antibiotics and acid reducer. With all the antibiotics and the different antacid/acid reflux medications I have taken I now feel sicker than before I started any of them! I have had terrible side effects and woke up this morning with such an awful headache. I looked all these medications up on drugs.com and they all list headache as a side effect. I also am sleeping most all day long and am not sure if this is gallbladder problem or what. Sorry to have rambled on but my question is this: Has anyone had good success with an oriental medicine practitioner/doctor regarding h.pylori and gallbladder issues? I have a good oriental practitioner who I have seen before in the past and am sure that he could help but my husband thinks I should stay on the antibiotics and with the same doctor and not keep switching around for medical advice. If anyone has had a simular problem or has some good holistic remedies or good experience with an oriental medicine practitioner regarding these issues please let me know your thoughts. Or should I stay the course and not "shop around" for medical advice. Thanks!

  • I keep hearing strange "booming" noises outside. Anyone else hear unexplained noises?

I live in western Arkansas and have noticed for some time there are strange thunder-like noises coming from the west?? Sounds like there is mining operation a few miles away but I haven't a clue what could be making the noises. It doesn't happen every day but maybe once or twice a week for some time now and seems to be only mid-day. It is very puzzling because weather seems to be clear. Sounds like a detonation or thunder. Anyone else hear this going on?? Legitimate theories or explanations only please.

  • Help! I think I left the salt out of my pie crust recipe! Do you think it will turn out?

I used Martha's recipe for pate brisee(pie crust dough) and it called for sugar and salt. I always use salt in my butter crust but never sugar. I thought I would try Martha's recipe for a change and as soon as I prepared the dough and put the filling in it I realized I put the sugar in it but not the salt. Anyway, just wondering if anyone has done this and the pie turned out anyway? I made enough pastry for two crusts so do you think I could sprinkle a little salt on it and mix in or should I start completly over?? I realize now I should stick with tried and true method of doing things now because I shouldn't start changing things up around Thanksgiving!!

  • How can I make a traditional wedding cake for 10 people?

Hi Y'all! My son and his fiance' want a simple wedding here at my house and I offered to make the cake. I want to make a traditional style cake with maybe two to three tiers at most, (having the top for their first year anniversary). I have checked MarthaStewart weddings website but only see recipes for large cakes feeding hundreds. My question is: How can I make a very small moist yellow cake (downsized) that feeds 10 people max. I wanted to top with fondant and fresh seasonal flowers. This is my first wedding cake (yikes!)

Secondly: can I use my regular cake or spring form pans or do I really need to invest in a Wilton cake pan set? Would welcome any ideas for a beautiful cake that is really small. I guess I could get a box cake mix but would like for it to be totally homemade.

Oh, I forgot to mention I only have three days to do this,-PLEASE Help!

    Thanks!

  • Help! My son is engaged to a former jehovah's witness. I'm afraid her parents will try to convert him!?

My son has been engaged to a very nice young lady who was raised in the jehovah witness faith. Her parents are nice and I respect their right to worship however they choose but I am concerned since they have only invited him over to their house once in a two year period. Now that my son and his fiance have decided to elope, they have suddenly decided to invite them to dinner to talk? I'm concerned they will try to "witness" to him since their organization is so persuasive. I've been trying to mind my own business, but the thought of that happening is kind of disconcerning. What shoud I do?
