  • Traveling with a Wii machine?

I'm currently in the states. I bought Wii for my kids. My plan is to let them play it here for the few weeks that we are still here then pack it up and take it back to the Philipinnes. I just called the airlines (United Air) and asked their advice. I couldn't get a definate answer about the security of the mechinism. The woman didn't know what Wii was and she barely spoke English so we weren't communicating well. She adviced to keep it sealed up and check it in when traveling. My question is: Will the Wii look like something dangerous (after all, it has wires and small parts) and get confiscated? Would it be ok to open it up and allow my kids to play with it as long as I pack it back up exactly as found in the box? Can anyone here with experience with this type of thing help me out? I'm all for high security. I just don't want to waste 243 bucks if you know what I mean. And, I don't want to cause problems for the airline. I haven't touched the Wii and I haven't told my kids about it so I don't mind returning it. I learned my leason, In the future, I will investigate BEFORE purchasing such an expensive item. Thank you for your help.

  • A movie or show from the mid 1970's?

When I was about 5 or 6 years old, I saw something frightening on TV. It was during the middle of the day. My mother put on The Dick Van Dyke Show for me to watch while she made lunch. I must have changed the channel because I remember seeing two adults in bed. Scarey music started to play and a hand attacked the feet and legs of the woman in bed. The man was trying to beat the hand away and cover/protect the woman. They were both screaming. The hand disapeared then the music started again and it came back to attack them again. I remember running out of the room to tell my mother but she had no idea what I was talking about and The Dick Van Dyke Show was playing again on the TV. This scene has somewhat haunted me. I've never been able to figure out what I saw or why it was on during the middle of the day. We are talking about the pre-historic, pre-cable, pre-VCR, 1970's. I'm possitive it was not The Adam's Family with that crazy hand. That show was funny. What I saw was terrifying. What in the world could I have possibly seen???? Even to this day I wonder.

  • A question for Filipinos.?

What is the issue of being 'shy.' I've been working in the Philippines for almost two years now with the same establishment. I am American. My co-workers are very polite and kind to me but when I make attempts to do things with them outside of work (which they always do with each other) they say they can't with me because they are shy. We are all women so it's not a gender thing that makes them shy. Are they politely telling me they don't like me? I love my job but I'm tired of being the odd one out all the time.

  • Is there such a thing as a selfish prayer?

I have a friend who constantly asks me to pray for her children to pass a board exam or to get accepted into a school or to win a contest of some sort. Is this normal? Are these considered selfish prayers? Are we suppose to pray for things like that?

  • What does it mean if you have to appear before a grand jury?

Basically, I'm referring to the Kyron Horman case. At one point, the step mom had to appear before the grand jury. Later, it was her friend. Then it was the bio mom and the bio dad and I think the step dad all at the same time. Some of my facts/terminology might be off. I'm just wondering what takes places when your in front of the grand jury. Does the grand jury determine if your a suspect? Do they rule people out as suspects? Just curious. Thanks.

  • Has anyone here used a salt pipe inhaler for congestion?

Do they work or is it a scam. Is it possible to make your own with rock salt or salt crystal? And no, a salt pipe inhaler has nothing to do with drugs.

    Thanks

  • Catcher in the Rye Questions?

This is my third time reading the book. Each time I read it, I find something new to ponder. I'm now wondering if the names of the characters have hidden meanings. For instance - Allie could mean all as in all complete in some way but what way. All innocent? Holden Caulfield kind of sounds like holdin' careful or holdin' the field as in the field of rye. And what about D.B.? Why isn't his full name mentioned. There must be something significant to that, right?

One other thing - Do you think the ex-teacher, Mr. Antolini, was coming on to Holden while Holden was asleep? What is the significance of that? Was Holden just being paranoid? I think the come on was real.

This is not a homework assignment. I am way, way past my days as a student in the classroom. I just curious. Thanks

  • Strange craving for avocados?

I've suddenly developed a craving for avocados. I'm eating about 4 per day. I've always liked them but this is crazy! No - I am not pregnant. Is it safe to eat that many per day? Why would my body suddenly crave avocados? I eat them plain with a dash of salt.

  • What do you think of the Kyron Horman case?

Police are now focusing on a friend of Terri's. They think this friend might have been involved. Why? And why can't the police solve this case? Terri does not seem smart enough to plan a 'perfect crime.' So who???

  • The Kyron Horman Case?

Do you think the detectives know what happened but don't have the proof to warrant an arrest? Or, do you think they are completely clueless? I sure hope it doesn't turn out to be the step mom or the father. What are your thoughts? This case is bothering me.

  • Cannon MP250 --- Error Number 6000?

I just bought this printer last week. I bought it new - from the store. Everything was fine. It was printing without any problems. Today I tried to print and it would not print. A pop up box appeared ERROR NUMBER 6000 written in it. I checked the manual - it states nothing about this error. I called the service hot line number here in Cebu and the number doesn't work. I went online and was advised to download Driver Whiz. I did that but I still get the error. I am in a hurry. I need to print for work tomorrow. I must have access to my printer tonight! It is already 6pm here in Cebu. Can anyone help me? Thanks so much in advance!

  • I'm having trouble accepting this situation...?

I've been good friends with a woman for about 2.5 years now. We both have young children. Her 5 year old spends a lot of time at my house and plays with my 5 year old. This takes place several times per week (10am to 8pm). My son has never been invited to her house. Not once. The other day, while her daughter was here, my youngest son was getting tired so I went upstairs to put him to bed. I took my cell phone with me, turned off the volume and put it under the pillow so I would feel the vibration. Please note that my son and her daughter were down stairs with my son's ya-ya (I live in the Philippines). Also, my friends husband was on his way to pick up the daughter. When I heard the husband downstairs I went down there but ACCIDENTALLY left my cellphone upstairs. To make matters worse, the husband left his cell phone in his car. It took awhile to get the daughter ready to leave. She didn't want to leave and she was having a horrible temper-tantrum. The father didn't know what to do so I was handling it. My friend was calling both of us on our cell phones so see what was taking so long. I had 22 missed calls within 35 minutes. My friend has my home phone number but for some reason didn't call it. She told me I'm irresponsible because I didn't answer my phone. She also told me to have a wonderful life. I apologized for the phone issue but she won't accept my apology. I'm very hurt by this. I just need some feedback. Did I do something horrible? Was I irresponsible? I have been very good to her children. Whenever she travels overseas for up to 3 months at a time, I keep an eye on her kids because I want to and because she makes that request. I am also a part-time teacher at the school our kids attend. My friend has told all the parents at the school not to trust their kids with me. She told that to my boss as well (the owner of the school) but my boss politely told her to re-assess the situation. I work at a private school so losing her business would be a big deal. But in my mind, the loss of the friendship is worse. Especially the friendship between our kids. My child keeps asking, "Where is *******?" I don't know how to answer.
