Trouble with graphics on computer?!?
I have an Envy 14 Beats HP computer (2010). It's been working just fine for me until two weeks ago, when I downloaded a Google app for Chrome that switched the graphics to negative (black and white) viewing. After using that app (and deleting it) everything is messed up. My windows have taken on a different, less appealing basic design, and especially Word---this REALLY irks me---has changed so much that it looks like it came from a '98 PC. What happened? How can I change things back to how they were?!?! I tried messing around with control panel's display settings but NOTHING seems to work. Please help!
Thanks!
1 AnswerLaptops & Notebooks8 years agoI have taken only one Subject SAT. Will schools like Dartmouth accept me?
Hello Everyone!
I am a senior aspiring to become a neurologist someday.... To get there, I plan on applying (and getting into!!) to top undergraduate schools, including Dartmouth, Swarthmore, and Cornell U.
I have a 3.89 unweighted GPA, 2100 SAT score, and only one SAT Subject test taken.... This is where I worry, as I see online that Dartmouth and many of the other private schools recommend taking at least two Subject SAT's. Does anyone know if the two SAT subject tests are required for applying?? Right now, it is too late for me to take another Subject SAT test, so I am stuck!
Any information would help me out. Thanks for looking!
2 AnswersHigher Education (University +)9 years agoTroubleshooting with SD chip for camera?
I have a SD/MMC 2GB chip for my camera. I took some videos a while ago, and when inside the camera, I can view them, but when I plug the chip in the computer, the computer can't find them. I know for sure the videos are not in the camera's own built-in memory.... and if it helps, there is another folder now called "Private" that was never on the chip until the videos came out. It looks like a bunch of ghost folders (I can't open them).
Would anyone have a clue what is going on here and HOW I can fix it to find, download, and enjoy my movies???
Thanks so much in advance, and have a happy holidays!!
2 AnswersCameras9 years agoHanukkah tradition in gift-giving?
So I was wondering, if, during the Jewish holiday Hanukkah, Jews hand out gifts (or gelt) to children each night on the eight days of the holiday. Also, do the gifts get better/larger/more expensive as the days progress?
Thanks!
Happy Holidays!!!
6 AnswersHanukkah9 years agoWhich knot do I tie on a sleeping bag?
Which knot would be the best to tie to hold the drawstring tight on a sleeping bag where I can easily loosen it when I need to. I usually do a pretzel knot, but over time and use, the knot becomes tighter and even more impossible to undo. So does anyone have a good know for this situation?
Thanks!
1 AnswerPacking & Preparation10 years agoName for photography club?
Hey everyone! So I'm creating a photography club for my school.... the thing is, someone else submitted their forms for one before me, but the counselor said if I had different motives and title, I could still go through with mine. So what is a good title for a photography club besides Photography Club?
I'm thinking:
Pictorial Club
Exploring Photography
Photo Club

4 AnswersWords & Wordplay10 years agoWhat does duty mean to your social life?
I am reading The Age of Innocence and have to write an essay based on the social themes and how they relate to present-day social life.... I chose duty, loyalty, tradition, and order as the primitive and necessary forms of an acceptable social life..... so..... what do you think duty means to society?? :)

2 AnswersJokes & Riddles10 years agoIn high school, Good candidate for Ivy League schools?
Hello!!
I'm entering my Junior Year in high school with a full course load ahead of me (4 APs, 1 Honors, 2nd year Theater). I want to know if I would have a good chance of getting into certain Ivy League schools, such as Brown, Princeton, and Stanford with the qualities and skills I have to offer now:
With divorced parents, I spend half of each week at each house. At my dad's I babysit my 4 yr old stepbrother, help my stepmother run her massage wellness business, and do my share of chores around the house. It's very much the same at my mom's except I'm the only child within the house.
I LOVE so many things-- I seriously do not have the will to discontinue any activity/hobby I do:
Lacrosse
Baking
Improvisational Piano
Volunteering
Eating! (a true epicurean indeed!)
Ballroom Dancing
Photography!
Inventing
Academically:
Latin Scholar (passed AP exam)
4.0 GPA
Independent Studies courses (includes History and English)
2nd year Theatre
I am a member and Treasurer of the Interact Club at my school and have participated/organized many events
I am a Varsity Lacrosse player and am planning to pursue the sport in college
I have interest in pursuing the following majors in college:
Medicine, particularly neuroscience (I have internship experience and am absolutely fascinated with human thinking)
Education (I love spending time with kids and helping them understand/comprehend the arts and works of life)
Unfortunately, besides honor roll, music composition awards, and business experience, I have intense stage-fright when it comes to public-speaking-- even in front of classrooms. I hate debate projects, for, even with the extensive research and time I put into studying and preparing for the big day, I break down at my very turn with the typical symptoms (sweaty palms, unstable limbs, aching head), plus I straight-out can't think straight!
On the plus, I have people who are willing to write Letters of Recommenation for me, even a Stanford alumni.
All this put together creates me. Do you think I have a chance of receiving the fat envelope from any of the Ivy Leagues?
Thank you so much,
Emily
2 AnswersHigher Education (University +)10 years agoBest web conferencing program?
Hi, I have several important meetings to make with people across the country. Would anyone know what the best web conferencing program is out there? I am looking for an affordable, reliable, speedy program that includes great sound and video quality. Something like Skype, but a little more upper-class.
Thanks so much!

1 AnswerLaptops & Notebooks10 years agoWhat has photography done for you? Why do you do it?
I'm an amateur photographer, but I love what I do. I pursue photography for a hobby to escape from my hectic lifestyle. I was just interested in how others, who are passionate about it, view photography. How are you moved by it? Why do you do it? What type of photography do you do? What does photography mean to you??
Just curious as to how others view it :) Thanks for sharing :)

So I love my new Envy no doubt, just got it a couple months ago. But I've been having problems with the mousepad. Sometimes the Synaptics don't seem to work. The mousepad IS on, and when I try to scroll with my two fingers, it doesn't work after a couple hours of computer work. Does anybody know why and how to fix this? Thanks!

"Anyone who considers him/herself an idiot, please stand up," said the sarcastic teacher.
There was a pause. No one stood.
Then, finally one student stood up.
"Now why do you consder yourself an idiot?" said the teacher with a sneer.
"I don't. I just felt bad that you were the only one standing up," said the student.
