I've been playing the Sims 3 problem-free for months, and all of a sudden the Sims 3 Launcher refuses to launch!

I do have custom content, but I have tested the game with all of it and had no problems, so I doubt that's the issue.

What happens exactly is that when I click on my TS3 icon, it briefly bounces about in the dock for a second or two, and then disappears again, as though it's been cancelled.

I have no idea what's caused this but I've tried virtually every suggestion going.

PLEASE can anyone help? I don't want to uninstall and lose all my CC and saves! :( :( :(

Recently, an friend of mine (Harry) introduced me to his new housemate, who seems to have taken an interest in me. He's a really sensitive guy, with a heart of gold, but I'm not in any way interested in him romantically. Anyway, he seems to have taken our fledgling friendship as being far more intimate and personal than it really it (I've only known the guy for a few months, and I've only ever spoken to him via the internet!). About 6 weeks ago, he told me he was interested in dating me, but I told him I didn't think of him that way, and that he should bear in mind that he doesn't really know me at all.

This doesn't seem to have put him off at all.

So here's the main problem: it looks like me and Harry (the one who introduced me to his housemate) might be hooking up. Another problem is that the only way I can talk to Harry (besides visiting him, which takes an hour's drive, and which I'm now reluctant to do because I don't want to meet this other guy) is via the internet, on a laptop that belongs to his housemate (Harry's laptop is busted). This means that it's virtually impossible to talk to Harry without encountering this other guy first, unless I concede to only texting Harry. Also, Harry hasn't really talked to this other guy about the fact that we might be getting together... I think he should, but I really don't want to cause problems over a relationship that is still in the early stages.

On the one hand, I feel really p****d off at this guy for persisting. He's sent me flowers when I told him not to, he texts me everyday, even when I don't reply, and he acts like he's offended if I don't make an effort to talk to him online. But I barely even know him! And he never considers for a second that the reason I might be online is to talk to Harry, who I've known for years, as opposed to him, who I've known for barely 4 months. On the other hand though, I feel sorry for him, as he's obviously created this total infatuation over me. Harry says he talks about me all the time, which is so confusing to hear, because he hardly knows anything about me at all. It's borderline creepy.

I've said to him before, "I just want us to be friends, and I don't want you to get hurt", but all he said back was "I'm an adult, and if I get hurt then it's by own fault"... but he never seems to consider that it might be bothering me. It's like I'm a challenge for him, almost.

Without going into vast detail over mine and Harry's relationship, how can I get this guy to cool off? It's really starting to irritate me now, and I feel like he's genuinely getting in the way of what's happening between Harry and I. I'm losing patience, please help!

There's a little cutaway in one of the more recent episodes of Family Guy where Peter is an Olympic Gymnast. As he's running to jump the gymn horse, his Russian coach shoots him in the leg. When he's finished the jump, his coach picks him up, makes a sexual innuendo and carries him away. Peter says "... Someone should look into this."

Every month I have my dark brown roots bleached and then all my hair (including the newly-bleached roots) toned down to a beige-blonde colour.

Next month, I'm going off to university, so I won't be able to afford to have this £35 bleaching sesh done professionally any more, but I'm really confused about how to do this on my own.

Okay, I know I'll need to bleach my roots to a pale yellow colour in order for it to become porous enough for a toner to make my hair the colour I want it. That's fine. My problem is that I have no idea where to get an appropriate toner.

I live in the UK, but I can shop online. I've read articles from people who suggest buying a non-ammonia 'herbal' type hair colour, but is there a difference between hair colour and hair toner? Plus, would a herbal toner be permanent enough? I doubt I'll have the time or money or patience to keep reapplying some flimsy toner.

I have to bleach my roots because my hairdresser said that putting an all-in-one colouring kit on my hair doesn't work - it just lifts my natural colour very slightly. Must not be strong enough, or something... also, they put a low volume bleach on because my scalp is pretty sensitive. Where could I get a low volume bleach?

Please, please, please can you help? I don't want to totally f**k my hair up after I've invested a lot of money into getting it to the colour and condition it's in at the moment.

My cat is a male 14 year old, and in the last 3 or 4 days I have noticed that his right cheek is swollen. Upon closer inspection, I see that he has a little scratch/graze on his cheek in an area which has now gone bald... it's just by his mouth, and about an inch in diameter.

At first I thought he had just had a scratch, and is now recovering naturally with a bit of swelling, but I'm not sure... he's drooling from his mouth now, which isn't exactly synonymous with a scratch. I had thought maybe he has a bad tooth? Only, he is eating, and sleeping, and purring, so I don't really know.

Is he in any immediate danger? Our local vet's is closed until Monday, and the emergency veterinary clinic is quite a long drive away (and I won't have my car back from the garage until tomorrow night).

I did ring the veterinary advice line, and they said that if he is still eating, he's not in immediate danger, but I'm still a bit worried. I'm going to take him to the vets on Monday anyway, but I was just wondering - has anyone had this problem before? Is he in danger?

My cat is a male, 14 year old British Blue. He's a fairly healthy cat, except for very minor kidney failure (which I am told by the vet is normal in older cats). Because of this, he has lost weight in the last few years, but has now plateaued. His appetite is fine, he is sleeping well, he is active, alert and seems very happy.

However, in the last week or so I've noticed that a patch of skin next to his mouth has gone bald, and he is drooling a lot in that area. I can't get close enough (without distressing him) to see if there is any blood, but I don't think there is. He certainly doesn't seem to be in pain, but then I haven't tried to touch his mouth to check, so I'm not sure. The patch is about the size of a bottle cap.

Could there be something wrong with his tooth? I'm not sure this is the case, since he is still eating well, but what has happened to him? He keeps licking the area now because he can't stop drooling from that corner. I'm going to take him to the vet, so please don't advise me to - I just want to know what your opinions are...

I was thinking of teaming it with a skinny tan belt (like in the photo) and some low ankle cowboy boots of the same tan colour. I don't want to go too dressy, because it's not that kind of night... For about six months I have been under a great amount of stress.

I have a history of mental illness, as I suffer from long bouts of depression and anxiety, but haven't suffered an episode in approximately a year now. However, due to actual circumstances, I have been very stressed and anxious in the last six months. First, my best friend of 10 years and I fell out and had a huge war which took months to fix, secondly my parents aren't speaking at the moment, so coming home is like entering the lion's den (you never know what to expect, and tiptoe-ing around makes me incredibly tense), and finally my brother's girlfriend of many years dumped him, and this has thrown me into a vortex of worry and stress, as she has truly put him through the ringer, and he is suffering for it.

There is far more to my feelings than these few events, but I just wanted to give an idea of what's going on with me.

Now my question: am I in danger of being very ill? I truly believe that I am having a nervous breakdown. The stress seems to have affected me so strongly. I've lost a lot of weight, I am faint regularly, even when I eat well, I am dizzy, my heart beats very strongly when I am particularly concerned, I feel very low and unmotivated, I am having headaches and I feel nauseated pretty much all the time. This state I'm in is also giving me panic attacks, and I'm starting to worry about my Heath. I don't look well, I now see. There are bags under my eyes, I am pale, and I look somewhat sallow.

What do I do? I've had bad experiences with medication in the past, and I don't know if I have the patience to start a course of anti-anxiety tablets. I feel too desperate to wait for the effects. I feel as though I need immediate help - rest, sedation and time. I don't know where to go. My family and boyfriend are both supportive, but it doesn't seem to help me to hear rational. I understand my worries are mostly irrational, but it doesn't stop me. I am physically and mentally exhausted.

Should I go to A & E? I don't know what you do when you're having a breakdown. I feel so frantic and ill.

Please help? I live in the UK, but even if you don't, please advise me? I am so desperate for help and advice.

I've never understood why, but sometimes when I eat certain food I get a momentary sharp aching sensation which shoots through my cheeks... it sort of feels like an acidic substance is suddenly released within my cheek and jaw area. I haven't noticed that any SPECIFIC food causes this reaction, but it certainly happens with stronger-tasting foods.

I'm going out this Friday night in a new dress, but I'm at a total loss as to what to wear with it. It's pretty cold here this time of year, so ideally I'd like to wear it with some kind of jacket or cardigan. I don't want to look too girly but teaming it with anything too heavy wouldn't be right either. For example, heels rather than biker boots.

I'm in a pickle with regards to what to do about my best friend. I've known her for 6 years, since school, and we've always been very close. Having said that, she is very proud and often isn't too honest about how she's feeling (I always have to ask her, she never volunteers that information). I've known her long enough to be able to tell when she's lying, and I know for a fact that she's lonely and wants to meet a guy. She's been very down the last few months, and has made subtle little comments (usually shrouded in jokes) about how she hasn't been with a guy for ages, and I've noticed her trying really hard to meet people, which hasn't been working because she's looking in the wrong places (e.g. pubs where 50 year old letches hang out...). She hasn't had a relationship (or even an "encounter", sexual or not) with a guy for ongoing a year now, and my being in a long term relationship probably isn't making her feel too good either.

To cut a long story short, I think because she hasn't met a guy in so long that she's starting to doubt herself - thinking she's unattractive, or stupid or whatever, whereas in actual fact, she's a very attractive, slim, funny, clever 20 year old girl with a lot to offer someone.

So here's my dilemma - she wont talk to me about feeling lonely, or wanting a fella, but I do want to help her without making her feel as though I'm patronising her. I don't want her to think "it's alright for her, she's GOT a boyfriend..." when all I want to do is help her. I can't really broach the subject with her either since she's incredibly proud and would probably take any advice I offered as condescending, since she's very sensitive about herself atm.

Anyway, she's not really a "go out clubbing" kind of girl, but she's making the mistake of hanging around in the same places, chasing the same horrid guys and feeling rejected when they don't respond. She needs to get out there, and meet new people and I really want to help her meet someone nice because I can see that she needs not only a big confidence boost, but someone who will make her feel good about herself.

So what can I do? I don't want to make it obvious that I'm trying to help her meet people, but at the same time I do want to put her in an environment whereby she has the opportunity to socialise with guys. She's sort of shy when it comes to making the first move, but if a guy approaches her she blooms, pretty much.

I think the problem has been that she's been alone for so long that she's starting to overcompensate for her feelings of unattractiveness by appearing either nonchelant or excessively keen. She just needs to feel flattered again, and that she is a genuinely attractive girl.

Please help me, so that I can help her!

For the last week or so my left ear has felt really strange... at first I thought it was just blocked, so I gave that old olive oil trick ago (failed), then I tried Otex eardrops (failed)... I went to the chemist, she said take a decongestant and try steam inhalation (both failures).

I know you shouldn't, but I tried to test whether it was my

ear canal or my eardrum which was giving me bother by sticking a q-tip in. Anyway my eardrum feels very tender and extremely painful... there's no pus or anything, so I don't know if it's an infection or not. All I know is that my eardrum is painful, my ear feels swollen shut, and I can hear a continuous roaring/pounding in that ear, which I can't alleviate.

Can anyone help? This is driving me insane :'-(
