  • Can you drink in a hired Sedan in Illinois and Indiana?

I work as a chauffeur for a limo company in Wisconsin. I will be driving a couple of people in a sedan through Illinois to Indiana in a sedan in a few days. I know, in Wisconsin, people are allowed to drink alcohol in the back seat of a sedan if there is a hired driver. Does anyone know if this is the same in Illinois or Indiana? Do you have any sources to to verify? I've tried searching and have come up with nothing. My next bet is to call limo companies in Illinois and Indiana, but I'm hoping to not have to do that.

  • Why won't my refrigerator/freezer get cold?

I have a refrigerator that was working fine in July. We sold our house and put everything in storage for a few months until we found a new house. We're in the new house, and the refrigerator has just sat in the basement for the last 7 weeks. I finally plugged it in last night, and while the fan seems to be blowing, and all the lights seem to be working, it's just not getting cold. Any thoughts on what I might be looking for to find the problem?

  • Does anyone know what interest rates are like for USDA home loans?

Credit score is above 750, debt to income ratio is pretty low, and we're within the income bracket for it. We were looking at an FHA, but I saw that we might be eligible for this. I'm at work right now, and the only thing I have access to is the internet. I plan on calling someone in a little while, but I'm getting antsy and thought I would check to see if anyone had any ideas of what I could expect.

  • Help me translate a Lithunanian word?

As long as anyone can remember, my Lithuanian grandmother has used a supposedly Lithuanian phrase to scold people when they do something wrong. We all say it now, but none of us knows the real meaning, or even how to truly spell it to find out. She actually does it two different ways, depending on how serious she is. If she's doing it in a friendly way, she will say "PASHIKNA." Again, I have no idea how to truly spell it, but that's what it sounds like. When she's actually mad and saying it, she will yell "PASHIKNA PODLAVIKI." Does anyone have any idea what the correct spellings for these might be, or what we've all been saying for years?

  • I need to know if there's any way to open these pictures again.?

In the last few days it seems a lot of my jpeg picture files may have been corrupted. When I look at the folder that they're stored in, I can see that there are supposed to be pictures in the folder (it looks like really small thumbnails), but when I open the actual pictures, Windows Picture and Fax Viewer says "No Preview Available." When I try to open them in paint I get an error saying "This is not a valid bitmap file, or its format is not currently supported." I also tried opening it with Quicktime PictureViewer and it says it cant display because "a suitable graphics importer could not be found." Does anyone know how I can open these files?

  • I'm looking for a semi-pro camcorder with more recording time?

I've looked at a lot of mini-dv cameras and it appears that there is only 1 hour worth of video per tape. Is there a semi-pro camera that has just an internal hard drive? Does anyone make a mini-dv tape with more than 60 minutes of video? I do a lot of wedding videos and I'm interested in upgrading my cameras, but I don't want to be stuck changing tapes in the middle of a wedding ceremony. Any assistance would be great!

  • How do I get the necessary experience to obtain an OUPV captain's license for the US Coast Guard?

I've been entertaining the idea of starting a charter fishing service on Lake Michigan. I know I would need to obtain this license in order to be able to run such a business, but when I look at the requirements to obtain the license, it says I would need at least 360 days experience on a great lake in order to earn the license. So how does one obtain such experience without giving up my life for a year (or a few years since I couldn't do it in the winter!)?

  • How can I use my TV as a computer monitor?

I have an old analog television with just RCA inputs. Is there a device that will allow me to convert the monitor port on my computer into an RCA output that I could plug directly into my television?

  • Attention Math Geniuses... Help me find a common denominator so I can paint my kids nursery with stripes!?

I'm trying to paint vertical stripes in a room for my kid's nursery. This would be an easy task if there were only 4 walls, Unfortunately, there are 6 walls, and a small bulkhead that are added into the equation. I'm going to try and explain this as well as possible, but the room could be divided up into 2 boxes. The main part of the room would be 11' 1 3/8" x 9' 1 7/8", or 486.5 inches around. The other part of the room is 5' 1 5/8" x 2' 5 1/2", or 182.25 inches around. I'm thinking a common denominator between the 2 might help me find an equal distance for stripes to fit both boxes, but I'm not sure that's the way to go, so here's my more detailed analysis (you might need a pen to draw this out):

The first wall starts at point A, goes from East to West and is 11' 1 3/8."

At the East end of the room (at point B), the wall is 9' 1 7/8" and goes from North to South.

At the South end of this wall (point C), the new wall goes from East to West, and is 13' 6 7/8"

Now here's where it starts to get tricky. From point C, before we get all the way to the end of the wall is where the second box starts. Exactly 11' 1 3/8" to the West of point C (we'll call this point D), the first box ends, and we are reunited with the North/South wall that goes back to point A.

If we continue West past point D, we get to point E (this is the full 13' 6 7/8"). From there, the wall goes North for 5' 1 5/8" to point F.

From point F, the new wall turns back to the East to point G, for 2' 5 1/2." Point G is where the smaller box meets back up with the wall from points D to point A.

    So now the perimeter of the room (From point A, through B, C, D, E, F, G, and back to point A) is 45' 5 1/2" (545.5 inches)

    The distance from point D to point G (through points E and F) is 10' 0 5/8" (120.625 inches).

The distance from point D to point G (on the D/A wall, where the bulk head hangs down) is 5' 1 5/8" (61.625 inches).

Now, my thought is to find a common denominator between 545.5 inches, 120.625 inches, and 61.625 inches to find the proper spacing of my stripes to make sure they can all be equidistant.

Is anyone still with me? If you can figure this out, you will be my hero!

  • How do I stain a door that has water streaks?

I'm trying to restain my bathroom door, but over the years, it looks like water has penetrated the wood. I've tried sanding, but the stains don't seem to get out. I can't stain over it, because it's plainly obvious that there are water stains. Any suggestions on how to fix the problem?

  • What's the best way to remove water damaged paint from cement block basement walls?

I have two corners of my basement that have seen better days... I'm trying to get the paint off so I can repaint. In case you're wondering, yes I already rerouted the gutters outside to make sure the water doesn't still get in. It's been dry for about 3 years now, but I need to figure out the best approach to removing the damaged paint for repainting. I've tried a palm sander and a scraper, but nothing seems to be easy. I have a feeling this is the best way to get it done, but I thought I would check here to see if anyone had a better idea... Any suggestions?

  • What free software will transfer music besides itunes?

I used to have a free software (which I can't remember the name of), that allowed me to transfer music to and from my iPod without using itunes. I know I could just use itunes, but it's a matter of principle... Anyone know of a similar software? I also know that I can just transfer the music from my computer to the ipod through windows explorer, but I'm looking for something that will transfer playlists too, and that's not possible (as far as I know) through Windows Explorer.

  • I put new weather stripping on my door, now it won't close!?

So I had copper weather stripping on my doors from about 1954, and I'm in the process of replacing the doors. I already had the doors fitted, and I just stained them both, and am about to put them on, but I wanted to replace the weather stripping because the copper was damaging my old doors. I put some stuff that was supposed to fill gaps from 1/8" to 3/8", but now my door won't close. This was more a foam rubber type weather stripping, so can anyone direct me to a type of material that will allow my doors to close? The gaps are only about 1/16 of an inch around, but I can feel air coming through like crazy.

  • How can I start a daycare for my employees in Wisconsin?

I have a lot of employees that are struggling with trying to pay for daycare services in order to work, and I think it would be good to start a daycare at the company for them. I'm trying to find information on what I would have to do to make this happen. I've seen a lot of information about starting a daycare in a house, and lot more information on starting a daycare business, but I'm not interested in either. I'm interested in adding a daycare as a benefit for my my employees. Have any of you done something like this? Do you know where I could find information on this?
