I have a male, hairless rat that is coming up on a year old. I recently noticed small black mites on him while I was changing his cage. I change his cage at least 2 times a week and I never noticed them before. They really seem to bother him and I don't want him getting sick. What could be causing them and how can I get rid of them?

A friend of mine is going to be 17 on the 31st of this month and his mom is kicking him out to his dad's where he will have no electricity or anything. Is there anything he can do?
