  • How can I stop my aggressively critical attitude?

I tend to be over-critical of myself and everyone else. Paired with a short temper and low tolerance for bullshit, I come off as a complete ***** who ostracizes herself.

I already see a counselor, but I was wondering if there are any workshops or books directed at the subject.

  • Where around NYC can I donate food and cleaning supplies?

I want to donate unopened and unused supplies that I have.

Foods range from honey to candy to noodles, etc.

Cleaning supplies range from Febreze to Swiffer to Ajax, etc.

Preferably I want a place that accepts both types, but I'm willing to compromise.

  • What does this Japanese note mean in English?

I bought a gift and the note that came with it is purely in Japanese.

Can anyone at least give me a rough translation.

  • How do I get rid of my allegric reaction to humidity?

First of all, I'm not allergic to the sun.

I used to joke that I'm a vampire, but I found humidity is the catalyst not the sun.

In wintertime I have no problems.

During the summer, when I am outside for any period of time, my skin becomes very itchy.

Usually this involves my face, ears, neck and arms. Basically anything exposed.

My skin doesn't change its appearance (it doesn't break-out or blister, etc). It only turns red when I start scratching it (and the itch is really overwhelming).

Also, I don't go tanning. Though I always use sun-block if the need arises. Sun-block doesn't help with relieving the amount of itchiness.

So what can I do to to stop my allergic reaction?

It really makes summer no fun for me.

  • My dad has depression. What can be done?

My dad is depressed. It's not a medical depression. He's been broken by life.

My mom is doing her best just to keep him living because he doesn't bother to take care of himself.

He's a stubborn man and doesn't want any help. My mom is convinced no professional can ever help him if he doesn't want to change himself.

It's scary. My mom would be divorced by now if it wasn't for the fact that he's the financial-backbone of the family. We're managing to live paycheck-to-paycheck now, so it'll be a disaster if we lost him.

I want him to get better. No one believes it is possible.

    Is there any hope?

    x-->a

  • Why do people believe in hell if God is all-forgiving?

Personally, I don't believe in evil. What we consider evil is anything that threatens our well-being whether it be in the mortal or immortal world. Hell, Satan, and demons are human fears personified.

If I may add, in the Old Testament [aka the Torah] there is no mention of hell. I believe it is only referred to as being far away from god. That can be interpreted as a pschological hell instead of a physical one.

I don't understand why God needs a contrast. God is all-powerful; so why can't he be good and "evil" at the same time? Plus he is all-forgiving...so wouldn't he forgive you if you honestly deserved it even if you did something really really horrible?

    So shouldn't hell be unneccessary?

  • Are the results of colored hair really that horrible?

My natural hair color is Dirty Blonde. I hate it. I really want to change it to a more nicer and noticable blonde. Even a Medium Blonde could work.

My mom is being all defensive saying that once I dye my hair all hell could break loose on it. She would prefer for me to get some natural looking highlights instead.

I really want to try changing the color of my hair. I already know the down-sides which include dry hair, unwanted colors, the fake look, nasty dark roots when my natural color starts growing out, and other things of that sort; however, I want to convince my mom that I really want to go through with this.

So should I listen to my mom or should I do as I wish?
