I bought a parakeet from a pet store a few days ago, but he hates being pet. :( He immediately went onto my finger in the store and will sit there or on my shoulder, but he runs away if I try to pet him. He also hasn't made any sounds yet. He's played with his toys a little, but doesn't want his spray millet (which I was told is like candy to them) and he sits fluffed up all the time, but he's eating, drinking, pooping, and perching regularly so I don't think he's sick.

How do I go about making him more comfortable with petting? The guy at the store said I could turn him on his back and pet his belly if I wanted, but he hates that too. I don't just flip him over I do it gently. I've owned many pets before, but never a bird.

I know that the shingles vaccine is supposed to only be for people over 60, but if I've already had shingles (I had it at 17 years of age) can I get the vaccine?

If the answer is no and because they haven't done a study for younger people, why not do a study for younger people or at least for people who have already had shingles?

So, I bought a new laptop and paid for the product key and tried to set it up, but after all the set up was complete all the icons for Microsoft Office disappeared and it says all the folders are empty. What do I do?

I have an outdoor only cat that has recently been starting to have some weird intense itching episodes. It's almost like a seizure, but she'll start itching her hindquarter area and licking it and then all of a sudden go into an intense rage where she rolls around off balance gnawing at her rump for a few seconds. What is this?? She doesn't have any rubs or missing fur so I'm stumped...

z = (.26 - .33) / (sqrt[.33*.66)] / 50) = -1.06 < this is my answer (the key says it's -1.10)

Question 2:

What is the approximate p-value of the observed z-statistic?

I'm stuck here.

I think I need to use normcdf(-1.06, (9^9)), but using this I get .853 and the answer key says it's .27. What am I doing wrong here? I know it's two tailed because the alternative is ≠, but even if I multiply .853 by 2 I'm still not getting the correct answer.

We have a horse that was given to us after it had an abscess in it's hoof. She's older (like 20s I think) and doesn't get around very easily because of her foot problems.

Right now we feed her Purina Equine Senior Horse Feed, but she's not putting any weight on. She also gets hay, but it's not green at all because she founders so easily.

Is there a feed that you know of that we could feed her so she won't founder but she will gain weight?

I'm thinking of putting her on Nutrena Life Design Senior. Do you have any experience with this feed?

I'm doing a research paper on the use of inorganic foods in beef cattle. Monsanto keeps coming up as a company that uses genetically modified foods and says that they are virtually the same as organic products. I looked here for a question regarding Monsanto as a company and one came up, "Why do people hate Monsanto?" the answer included something about how Monsanto created Agent Orange and PCB. When I lunge the horse she almost refuses to lope. I'm keeping myself behind her hip and not getting in front of her, but when I cue her to lope she goes for a few strides and then wants to stop like she's just being lazy. When I'm riding her, however, I cue her to lope and she takes off running and keeps going...sometimes anyway. Should I just not lunge her anymore?

Also, the guy that had her previously used a roller bit in her mouth to "give her something to play with" and now while I'm waiting to do feedlot sorting (see www.tricv.com for more info) she gets really excited and starts bobbing her head up and down. It's really annoying and dangerous. Do I need to get a roller bit? Which one? I've tried smacking her in the poll when she bobs her head, but it's not really helping much in the long run.

I had Microsoft Office Home and Student installed on my Dell laptop, but it had a problem and the whole system had to be restored so now it's not on there.
