My brother's baby momma is awol?
She went into the military in 2008, In 2009 she got together with my brother and decided she didn't want to be in the army any longer. So she concocted a idea to get pregnant and they would get money and than discharge her after they got a bunch of money from the government. Well after being pregnant for a good while in the summer of 09, she "says" she emailed her officer and put in the paper work to be discharged. She got a letter about 2 months ago, her daughter is now 4 months old. Stating that she had been promoted private first class and needed to report back. Instead she ignored the email and says that she isn't going to call them because she's worried she will be yelled at. It's been more than 30 days. She is now considered AWOL i would imagine and since its more than thirty days shes a deserter. I was allowing her to stay in my home until I found out I could go to jail for her inability to be an adult and face her issues. I am worried about my brother and my new niece. I don't want him to go to jail because she isn't facing her issues. What exactly can be done? Does anyone have advice or knowledge about AWOL and desertion? They live in ORegon, btw. Any bit of information will help. Thank you.
6 AnswersMilitary1 decade agoMy garage ceiling fell in due to a leak in my upstairs bathroom, landlord said it wasn't a problem?
I called my landlord a couple weeks back because my garage had a leak, it was small, but it worried me because I could see that it was beginning to warp the ceiling around it. The plaster was peeling away and sagging. He doesn't speak english and I wasn't provided with a translator to help explain the issue. He said...to the best of his english speaking ability that the caulking around the tub was old and that we overflowed our tub. I told him that no we do not over flow our tub, the only one who takes a bath is my daughter and she is one so the tub only get's filled halfway up. He said that when we splash water onto the floor, it leaks down into the garage. He replaced the old caulking, but the leak persisted..and has gotten worse. Last night I was downstairs doing laundry and my husband was taking a shower...I heard a big pop and than it just starting steaming down into the garage, the ceiling had finally cracked open and water poured out. I grabbed a bucket and stopped it from ruining my belongings. This morning. I took a shower. Not ten minutes later I heard a big crash downstairs and when I went to investigate, my ceiling had completely fallen down in the area of the leak, water poured into the bucket and I discovered black mold everywhere. Meaning that the leak had been happening for a long long time before it started actually coming out of the ceiling into the garage. I have tried calling my landlord four times, each time no answer, just to voice mail. I called saying that this was an emergency and that I needed a response asap. That was at 11:30 am. It is now 1:45 and no call back. My landlords only have four town home buildings that they maintain and I know that no one else has called them out for maintenance. I stated in my voicemail that I would call a plumber if she didn't call back and send someone out. I want to know, if I call a plumber and have them bill my landlord, is that acceptable? should I call legal aid? I don't know what my options are. I took pictures of everything. There is very very obvious signs of black mold and Im worried to even take my daughter downstairs.

2 AnswersToddler & Preschooler1 decade agorunaway laws in oregon?
If a child decides that they should leave home because of an unsafe or emotionally harming home environment at 15, what can the parent's do to get her back? Or can they? I have researched and you can't find much, but as far as i can see once 15 a person has the right to decide for themselves and a parent can not force their child to come home. As long as the child is safe, in school, stays out of trouble with the law they are not going to be forced by the police or child services to go home. Is this correct?
9 AnswersLaw & Ethics1 decade agoshe is throwing tantrums at the drop of a hat?
My daughter is 15 months. When she gets frustrated, when she's hungry, tired..doesn't get a toy right away, when she's told no, when we take something away from her, when she just feels like it, when i or her daddy doesnt pick her up fast enough she throws an aweful tantrum. Ear splitting screams, rolling on the ground kicking her feet. She will intentionally stand up during a fit and throw herself backwards. She does this constantly throughout the day now. It's something new...she's been doing it for about a month and a half now. We have tried putting her in time out....doesnt work. we have tried diverting her attention...doesnt work. We try ignoring her, makes it worse. We are lost as to what we should do. She does it all the time...She's started biting as well...when she is angry or upset. please help.
3 AnswersToddler & Preschooler1 decade agoMy baby is having trouble sleeping at night. Any suggestions?
My daughter is 15 months old and recently we have been having trouble getting her to stay asleep all through the night. She wakes sometimes two or three times before officially getting up at 6am. It's getting extremely hard to get a small amount of sleep. We feed her a good sized dinner before she gets a bath..than we read her a story and tuck her in. Her bedtime is at 8:30, she takes one nap during the day. Refuses to take more, which is fine. I would like suggestions as to what we could possibly do to extend her sleep time...to get her to actually sleep through the night like she used to. Any suggestions would help. We recently turned her bed into a toddler bed. which doesn't seem to be working out, but she has troubles being confined, hates it really. So we figure that if we gave her a bit more independence (getting in and out of bed on her own) that she would be able to sleep better. But it's not working. thanks

2 AnswersOther - United States1 decade agoCat pulling her hair out. I think it's stress.?
We recently adopted my fiancee's mother's female six year old cat. His mother's house was disgustingly messy and always hectic and stressful. She brought home a male kitten about a year ago. He is now about 1 1/2 and a complete jerk. Once he hit puberty he started attacking her and never let her near the food or water dish. SO I took pity on her and brought her home because she was always hiding in a bedroom to stay safe. It's been almost a week and she still stays hidden under our big chair ALL day...and i mean all day, she only comes out at night when the lights go out and we come upstairs. She craves attention but is too terrified to come out from under the chair. She still seems to be pulling her hair out. She is skittish as hell( scuse the language) and you can't even move without her running for cover as if she was abused. I'm very concerned about her because she only eats or drinks at night.....never comes out during the day and wont stop pulling her hair out. Is stress the reason...or does it sound like it could be something else and she needs to see a vet? PLease help!! She's the sweetest cat, but so sad looking with no hair on her butt and half her tail.
