whats your thought on "taking a break" in a relationship?

my gf and i cant see each other because of her mother, so we're "taking a break". we love each other, it just hurts to much to watch our relationship go down the drain. we're going to try again when things cool down with her mother.

my girlfriend's mother is very religious and has a problem with her daughter being gay. she doesnt want the two of us to see each other at all. i was suppose to meet up with my girlfriend today and her mother was parked outside of my house. she believes that my family doesnt have morals because my parents are okay with me being a lesbian. my girlfriend and i have been together for a little bit over a month. i love her and she loves me. we're in love. but her mother is making it impossible to be together.

my question is: is this a test to see how much we can go through together or a sign that we should try it again in a couple of years?

she's 18 and i'm 17. i know everything about statutory rape and thats not an issue. she loves her mother very much and doesnt plan on moving out just yet. my parents are very supportive and agree with whatever i choose to do about the situatuion.

any takes on the situtatuion are welcome.
