  • trying to go to ivy?

    Hoping to get into an ivy, im a freshman in HS (no expectations yet, just wondering)

    grades for fresh. yr:

    B avg in honors math

    A- avg in English

    A- avg in History

    B avg in Spanish

    B avg in Physics

    taking an sat math class in summer

    classes for soph. yr: honors math, honors english, honors history, Spanish, chemistry regular level

    EC's: gospel choir (2), Jazz ensemble, guitar (6 yrs), perform in a band publicly, in restaurants, jazz houses, etc

    Clubs: debate team, green engineering club, local government club, jazz club, sailing club, surfing club (started surfing club)

    Sports: wrestling, ultimate frisbee

    Volunteering: volunteer at a music school for underprivileged youth 5 hrs/ week 65 volunteer hours currently

    started a program on weekends for kids at school to help local gov't in clean up/ revitalize the town monthly/ yearly

    Legacy: dad, grandfather, uncle, 2 great grandfathers went to Harvard,

    my mom works at Harvard as an assistant professor, used to work at brown.

    any ways i can improve/anything to build on? please be honest on areas i am lacking

    which colleges would i get into (potentially, in 2 yrs) which would be a "reach"?

  • why didnt police/fire department fly helicopters to the twin towers on 9/11?

    maybe im wrong, but in all the footage it seems like it could have worked if parachutes were flown up or even if they flew to the side or the top and just loaded as many people as possible onto helicopters. would smoke have been a problem? also, couldnt they have just been loaded onto helicopter, then landed on nearby (safe) building, as much as possible? Maybe there wasnt enough time?

    how do you know which volcanoes have which types of eruptions and types of magma/lava without just memorizing? Also how do you know the type of volcano of an individual volcano?

  • Issues restoring macbook?

    I know how to restore my MacBook (late 2009), but the install disk that came in the box is Leopard, not Mountain Lion, and when i insert the disk, a window opens and says "you cant use this version of the application with this version of OS X."

    do i need to buy a mtn lion disk? other ways to solve the problem?

  • How to watch red sox live in boston area?

    I have Apple TV. Last year I tried watching red sox games with Mlb.Tv, on apple tv which didnt work. all cable subscriptions seem expensive, (comcast, verizon) and i dont like streaming illegally. any ideas? (ideally a cable subscription in hd with sports under $60 a month)
