I have a 1TB RAID-5 file server on my home network (the server runs its own proprietary OS). The computers are running a mix of Win2000 Pro and XP Pro and I also have a MacBook Pro running OS X.

I'd like to put all the music that is currently on my, my wife's, and my kid's computers onto the file server and be able to share playlists across the computers.

Apple has made this seemingly simple task quite complex.

I'm not looking to rip anyone off here, the music is bought and paid for, we'd only be sharing amongst our own ipods and fully compliant with the terms of service and the DRM agreement.

Has anyone succeeded in making this work?

I have an offer for a new job, which I intend to accept.

Prior to receiving the offer, I planned a two week vacation with the family which involves flying a long distance to an exotic destination. We have been really looking forward to this for a long time and the reservations are already made.

I have two choices:

Give notice now, offering to work for two weeks after I get back (so I'm really giving 4 and a half weeks notice).

or

Wait until I get back, give two weeks notice right away, work a couple of weeks through the transition and be done with it.

I'm looking for advice with the pros and cons of each approach.

I'm leaning towards the second one because it leaves me more in control of the process and leaves less money and benefits on the table. But, it might be nice to not have this hanging over my head while trying to relax on the beach.

what the hell kind of a sick f%ck, omniscient, omnipotent deity would deliberately create an entity that exists for no other reason than to torture people who don't bow down to it in fealty?

How is this different in any way from the kids who recently caught a kitten and set it on fire just to watch it suffer?

And more importantly, is there a reliable historical reference that lists pricing of tea in china by year for the last century or so?

What macroeconomic wisdom lurks within this obscure data?

Or nickels, dimes, etc.?

I have a five figure tax bill coming up and I'd love nothing more than to dump a truckload of pennies in the IRS lobby.
