  • Has anyone ever found an empty egg?

I work on a farm that keeps rare breed cattle and pigs. We also have some chickens that run free round the yard and surrounding fields, these chickens get a supplement of whole wheat and whole oats to add to what they forage (so no crazy chicken feed here).

The other day we found an egg that seems complete (no breaks in the shell) but weighs much less than it should, it balances as though there is just a bit of filling (cant tell what without breaking it) stuck to the side near the pointy end.

I will clean it off soon and candle it to get a better idea if there are any sneaky cracks and what may be inside.

But, has anyone ever come across an unbroken empty egg?

  • Has anyone (here) analysed the Met Office data?

    What did you find?

    What were your methods?

Have you published your findings and methods?

How did you "include" missing data?

  • How do I change the piston seal on a hydraulic ram (on a 15 ton JCB)?

Ok, so the simple "unbolt the rod end plate, slide out the ram and replace the seal" isnt quite what I'm looking for.

The ram is on a JCB excavator and holds probably 10 or 20 litres of fluid (which I dont want to just throw on the floor), also its 15 feet up in the air.

What I hope you will be able to tell me is method, like:

1 disconnect hydraulic couplings at the piston (plug pipe to digger unit.

2 connect manual hyraulic pump to expel fluid.

    3 remove clevis pins...

    etc. etc

    how to bleed (if necesary)

remember this thing is big, heavy and not easy to get at.

  • Will you join the protest?

A sit-in protest at the Manchester Trade Unions' conference is planned for the week end. will you join in?

If the Manchester demonstration is not a success, campaign leaders are likely to take the sit-in protest to Downing Street.

The protest leader (Mr A Bliar) has been heard rehearsing the campaign theme:

    "We will not

    We will not be moved......"
