  • Syrian Hamsters?

I have recently been asked to take in a hamster. These guys are Syrian hamsters. My knowledge of these guys is very little as I have not owned any for years(at least 10-15 years and we don't touch on this much in vet tech school) they have asked me to take in one if I can however I do not want to do so not knowing the proper care for hamsters. I have been doing my own research but would love to hear from more experienced hamsters owners. Any help would be appreciated! Even links to hamster or small pet forums or reliable websites is okay as well.

  • Cavalier Puppy has Bad Breath?

My 8 month old Cavalier Buster has some pretty awful breath. I brush his teeth daily, have tried some dental treat bites(Nylabone Advanced Oral Care Edible Dental Bits), and have also had my vet(also my boss) has said that his teeth are in good shape and the smell is not medical. It doesn't seem to smell like his food but I suppose thats always a possibility as well(he eats Blue Buffalo). Does anyone have any tips to help prevent his breath from smelling as bad as it does? I've had some dental treats recommended as well that I plan on trying but was wondering if anyone else had any other suggestions.

I've smelled much worse at the clinic and for the most part his breath doesn't bother me too much but it does bother my mother who I live with(I am a vet tech student and live at home still for the time being) and mostly everyone else who interacts with him.

    Thanks guys!

  • How to relieve boredom when on exercise restriction?

I have a 5 year old Belgian Shepherd Border Collie mix who I am fostering from my vet tech program at my college. He has heartworms and is on exercise restriction. I am only allowed to leash walk him and he is not allowed to do any running, jumping or playing. My instructor has given me a Kong for him to help relieve boredom and has told me I can work on his commands. However even with these items he will not settle down. He paces around the house and will not relax at all. I was wondering if anyone had any tips to help relieve his boredom that does not include any running, jumping, or playing. He is not food motivated so anything involving food will not work on him. He is also not interested in his Kong that I was given despite my efforts to make it interesting. If anyone has any ideas I would be very thankful to hear them.

  • Microsoft Office 2007 not installing?

So yesterday I bought a new laptop because my old one had died on me. I have been trying install Microsoft Office 2007 on it since then. It will not install. I have tried restarting my laptop, shutting it down for a few minutes, logging out and logging back in, cleaning off the disk and CD reader. I have not had this problem with my previous 2 laptops. Does anyone know why this might be happening or have any suggestions on what I can do. I need to have the 2007 version on here because every document I have in Microsoft is from 2007. The trail version of 2010 would not let me open anything from 2007. I was told to uninstall the trail version of 2010 before installing 2007 so I did do that.

  • Current cats terrified of new cat and now current cats having problems with eachother?

Sunday my mother and I brought home a new cat Mama, the mother to our youngest cat Sophie. Now today we brought her to the vet for a checkup she is healthy besides being overweight. My mother made the mistake of letting Millie and Sophie my current cats meet Mama today. Mama was fine with them just hissed and growled a few times. However Sophie and Millie hissed, growled, and ran off crouched down and are now terrified of her. Unless Mama is in my mothers room and not in the cat room(where we had Mama) they are not comfortable enough to leave my room. Now I know that

my mother made a huge mistake in letting the cats meet so early, however it is her house and I don't have too much of a say in things(I am a college student living at home). My question is if introduced properly do you think these girls all spayed will be able to eventually get along?

I have also noticed that Millie will growl anytime she sees Sophie something she has never done before. Could this be because of Mama or some other reason entirely?

    Ages

    Millie-8 years old

    Sophie-1 year and 5 months

    Mama-1 year and 10 months

I have experience with cats as I work with them at a cat rescue however I have never dealt with having more than 1 or 2 cats in my home before.

  • Cat dropping small pieces of poo on the floor?

I have 3 cats, Millie, Sophie and Mama. Mama is Sophie's mother who we just adopted today and brought home. Now Mama is at least 20lbs so she is overweight and is being put on a diet and exercise schedule. Due to Mama's weight she cannot clean her butt so we need to wipe it for her. Now we have noticed that she is dropping little pieces of poo on the floor. I am taking her to the vet this week so I will be asking then but until then I was wondering if it could be simply because she is so overweight and cannot clean herself properly.

  • Re introducing mother and daughter?

We currently own 2 female cats Millie who is 8 years old and Sophie who is a year old. Within the next couple weeks we are going to be adopting Sophie's mother Mama. Now my mother and I know how to introduce cats to eachother however have never had to re introduce related cats before. Mama will be kept in a room separated from Millie and Sophie until we decide to introduce them. Mama and Sophie have been apart for a little over a year. When re introducing related cats is there anything different we would have to do is what I am asking. As stated before we know how to introduce cats but are unsure if anything different needed to be done when re introducing related cats or re introducing cats period.

  • Introducing third cat into household?

We currently own 2 female adult cats and are introducing a third female into the household within the next couple weeks. The new female is the mother to one of our current cats. How would we go about introducing mother and daughter again and our other cat to the new one?

We have a room where we can have the new cat stay until they can be safely left alone together.
