  • UK new law regarding pension sharing on divorce?

I was divorced in 2001. I had been working from home as a childminder through our marriage after having and bringing up our two children. I also worked to pay for my husband's re training as a college lecturer after he was medically retired on full pension at 42. At the time of our divorce (and with no home ownership proceeds to share on the divorce) he was receiving over £1000 per month in pension., now it is probably nearer £2000. The court for some strange reason known only to them!! awarded him this full pension and awarded me just a 2 years Teachers pension (he left Teaching shortly after!) amounting to £600 a year.I was told I could not appeal. I have no pension myself and am not in best of health and will only have a tiny pension when I retire. Someone said a new law has just come out this past few months stating that I could now re challenge this and be awarded half of his large pension as I was a mum working and looking after our children at home. They are now adults. Does anyone know any more info on this before I go to a solicitor? Many thanks.x

  • Rewards First.... Major Scam!!!!!!?

6 months ago through Fly- be I booked a flight from to Birmingham to Glasgow (my first flight in 12 years!!) after completion of the credit card details it came up that if I again entered my Barclay card credit card details I would receive a £14.95 refund to my card.oh but wait..... shock horror have just noticed after your booking..they get your details and then offer you... er nothing!!!!! do NOT fall for this scam in future as it is VERY hard if not impossible to stop it :and the £14.95 they just take every month from your credit card and you can NOT stop this (according to my Credit Card Company) until they agree to not take any more payments!! To date they have taken just over £100 off me on top of my flight to see relativies and the flight of £127 was I thought expensiveenough for ???? not sure really other than my stupidity for being over 45! !

  • Dancing On Ice The Final (U.K) Is this fair?

For two years running now someone has won Dancing On Ice who have had previous skating and dancing backgrounds when all the other contestants haven't. Am not sure this is really fair.. Although Sam was excellent tonight, he was actually good on day 1 unlike all the others. Just think you are either a skater or a novice when you apply. If you can skate then you have a big advantage and should not apply to go on, if you can not skate then you should be on Dancing on Ice" x

  • Palm plant advice please!?

After the recent severe weather (U.K) my three substantial, potted palms are now very sick. They have very drooping leaves and the stem of one has gone soft. Is there any way of rescuing these plants? I did protect them through the bad weather but temperatures were so low that this was obviously not sufficient. Many thanks for any help x
