  • LED TV color takes time to saturate?

    I've got RCA A/V going from the service provider's modem into the back of my 47" LG 3DTV. On some images (most notably family guy whenever there's a yellow background) the color seems to take time to saturate.

    The top and bottom third of the TV are the correct color instantly, but the middle seems to take more time... it looks like a shadow that shrinks then dissapears in the middle of the TV.

    I'm not HDTV savvy, and so I have no idea what's causing this.

    I need to know how to make lines softer (gradiate the pixels further). When I draw a line they're too sharp, and I want them to have a softer look.

  • Are graphics tablet styli model specific?

    Having a bear of a time finding a replacement stylus for a WP8060 graphics tablet.

    Do they make specific styli for specific graphics tablet models or are they fairly universal?

    Keep in mind I'm not asking about PDA / tablet PC styli

  • How do I capture video from a portion of a screen?

    I have a video file, but the RTMP data is corrupt. VLC will play the file, but can't re-encode it (mainly because it cant detect a beginning or an end).

    I'm looking for either a trick to force VLC to encode and output what's there, or a trick to capture a cropped section of the screen and encode from there.

    Suggestions?

  • What is stricter than tai chi, but less active than tae bo?

    I'm trying to find a good morning routine to get me out of bed. I like the looks of tai chi, but it's too flowing for my liking, and tae bo is too cardio intensive for the first thing in the morning.

    The maK'Bara from star trek looks ideal, but obviously there's not enough material to go on .

    Here's an example of the kind of movements I'm looking for:

  • What is the animal in this picture?

    Is this just some mutant? Or is it an animal that I've never learned about? I thought I had a pretty good working knowledge of animals, especially mammals.

  • Modern Warfare 2: How do I connect to an xboxer using the steam version?

    Connecting to other steam users is simple, but there's no matchmaking service, nor do I see a by-IP method. How can I play Mw2 Co-op mode with a friend on xbox?

    Thanks!

  • Whats the best program to make a GUI frontend for c++?

    So far I've experimented a little with QT. It looks very close to VC++ (without the total disregard toward standards), but requires the mingwm10 dll to accompany the program, or to streamline it into the program at a cost of ~50MB.

    Can anyone suggest a GUI IDE which is compatible with C++ and does not require such a large library to accompany it?

    Recap:

    Need a c++ compatible GUI IDE that:

    Does not require accompanying files (I can compile and run it on a fresh machine, no installs necessary)

    Is standards compliant

  • Trying to ID this song (recent)?

    I heard it on the radio this morning, and after a long day at work all I can remember is a woman singing in a high pitch "ha ha ha haaa" with each a higher pitch than the one preceding it, and the last ha being dragged out and the pitch dropping.

    It sounded like it was a hip-hop song, and had an odd tempo.

    Any guesses?

  • How do I keep a program's registry files local to that program?

    I have a program that I would like to make portable, and the only thing I still need to figure out is how to redirect the program's registry read/write requests to a local file. I know there's a solution for this out there, I just don't remember what it is.

  • How are circuit boards etched? (Clarification)?

    I've watched two tutorials so far regarding the creation of a circuitboard via the transfer of a pattern to an unprinted circuitboard of copper with a photosensitive layer on top of it.

    As far as I can tell, a graphic is printed up on something clear (like glossy photopaper). The places you want current flowing are left clear and the places you wouldn't want current are printed in black.

    The image is then placed on top of the photosensitive layer (which covers the copper board) and everything is placed under an incandescent light for 90 seconds. The board is then washed in an etchant, at which point the (soon to be) nonconducting area of the board is still covered by the photosensitive matter and the conducting area is left at the mercy of the etchant.

    I don't understand this... why would you protect the copper (which conducts electricity) where you don't want electricity, but subject the rest to the etchant?

    After the etchant is applied (as far as I can tell) it is just rinsed under tap water and acetone is applied to remove the rest of the photosensitive matter... I don't see anything about removing the copper underneath.

    If there was a step in the process in which the exposed copper was chemically fixed to the board, and the copper under the photosensitive matter got dissolved I could understand the process... but I don't see anything like that.

    How is this an effective method of preparing a circuitboard if the copper on both sides of the current is left intact? There must be something I'm not seeing...

  • Can a long-term yeast infection affect fertility?

    I'm a guy who knows quite about about the other sex medically speaking, but my research is giving me mixed results. I have a friend who has had a yeast infection for quite some time (>1 year) and hasn't treated it because she was never properly educated about feminine hygiene.

    I have talked with her parents out of concern and convinced them to take her to the doctor. I know there are some miracle drugs out there and (assuming the root cause isn't something they can't get rid of) am trying to determine if she needs to prepare for any long-term effects of this infection after treatment. The only real problem I can think of that might not heal with the use of medication is the ability to conceive. That said, what is the likelihood that a yeast infection has traveled to the ovaries, or is it even heard of?

    Any information will be helpful, 10 points goes to the most informative answer that has the most alike answers.

  • C++, What's wrong with this simple code?

    It works just fine on the machine I'm programming in, running windows vista, compiled with VC++ 2008 express.

    It runs fine under cmd prompt and in the debug window, but when any of my friends try to run it on their updated XP computers they get errors, or more commonly the screen exits before they can read anything... What am I programming wrong here?

    #include <iostream>

    #include <string>

    using namespace std;

    int main ()

    {

    string mystring;

    mystring = "This is the initial string content";

    cout << mystring << endl;

    cout << "Enter Something" << endl;

    cin >> mystring;

    cout << mystring << endl;

    system("pause");

    return 0;

    }

    I have also tried it with getchar(), however, it doesn't even stop for the cin prompt...

  • '83 Chevy s10 (4.3L) Carburetor missing hose, not sure where it goes?

    I'm not a mechanic, but I'm trying to hold my own here.

    I recently purchased a truck and I'm working on fixing it up. My engine is having some problems with idling, and I noticed there is a gold bell-shaped object with a port for a hose. I assume what I need here is a suction hose for the carb. My engine will sometimes die while taking turns without depressing gas, or coming to a complete stop at stopsigns. Do any mechanics out there know where this hose connects? The port for it looks fresh, like maybe it fell off, but I don't see any loose hoses, though I may just be looking in the wrong place.

    I'll check back frequently and edit to answer questions.

    My email is earldbjr@gmail.com if you need direct contact.

    Thanks in advance!

  • How do I override the marking of a bad data block on a hard drive?

    I have an HDD going bad, I recovered the data from the bad blocks and relocated it onto working ones.

    I'm currently doing a raw data transfer to another hard disk. However, XP will still have those data blocks marked as bad. Would chkdsk fix this? If not, where can I find a tool to mark all blocks as functional?

  • (ubuntu) How do I set up a bridge for virtualbox while maintaining a static IP for the computer?

    Ubuntu is running apache, proftpd, and other applications requiring a static IP.

    I installed vbox and I'm trying to create a bridge to it, the problem is if I keep the stanza relating to my eth0 static IP, I wind up with no connection at all, and the only alternative I've been given so far is to ditch the static IP and just create the bridge.

    So how can I bridge to vbox and keep eth0 static?

    Thanks

  • How is a cat different from a dog?

    I'm looking for answers from an artistic perspective.

    From my observation it seems that generally cats have proportionally larger eyes, shorter muzzles, and smaller ears.

    Any other artists with some tips? I'm a 3d modeler and I'm trying to model both, but its my first time with animals.

  • What redirects an incoming connection to a subnet address?

    Servers and certain programs require a router to forward ports to a static IP address, but how do programs such as LogMeIn receive data to the right subnet address? Is it broadcasted to all subnet addresses and rejected but all by one or is the packet flagged for a specific dynamic sub?

    Thanks,

  • What are the major differences between Autodesk 3ds Max and Maya?

    I have trialed them both, and the only real difference I've noticed so far is the interface. On the website even the descriptions are paraphrased. There must be a big difference of the company wouldn't sink money into developing two separate applications.

  • What does charging my debit card as credit do for my credit?

    I'm considering getting a credit card and just having it draw from my checking account, would this build credit? Alternatively, I have a debit card that occasionally gets charged as credit, and it gets paid from the checking account all the same, does this affect my credit?

    I'm only 18, and my school's economics class chose to focus on things we'll never use instead of things everyone needs to know lol.
