  • Can sitting too close to the TV really hurt your eyes?

A friend and I were just discussing this one last night and I wondered if were really true.

I remember my mum saying it to me when I was a kid. But then again it was the seventies so the quality was very different.

Can it actually do a child damage to stand too close to the TV or was it just a saying our parents used because we were blocking their view.

    ps.

When I mean stand in front of it I am talking about an arms length from it and for less than 10 minutes a day.

  • Changing name?

You know when you recieve an email from someone it has their name shown so you know who sent it. Well when I send an email it says my nick name.

I can not for the life of me remember doing that and have tried so many times to figure out how to change it to my full name. It does not create a professional impression when I send emails to clients.

    Could anyone help?

  • Does anyone recognise this film?

My dad keeps on about a film he saw on late night tv some years ago. He never saw the whole thing but kept meaning to, he doesn't know the title or who was in it.

What little he remembers of it is that the main character is trapped in a hut surrounded by zombies. His arm turns on him and tries to attack him so he puts it in a vice and chops it off. In it's place he sticks a chainsaw which he then uses to fight zombies.

Apparently a vortex then opens up and the guy falls into it. The next scene is medievil England and some knights are not doing a great job at fighting a dragon. The sky opens up and the guy drops through it. He kills the dragon with his chainsaw.

I am keeping my fingers tightly crossed that someone out there knows the answer to this so my father will finally stop going on about it!!

  • Where can I buy a boppy cushion in Newcastle?

We tried out one today and it was perfect to encourage the little one to sit.

I know John Lewis used to sell them but they stopped as the material is not flame retardent.

  • Know a good child friendly venue to hire in Newcastle?

I am having a combined christening/first birthday party for my son in October. I need to find a venue in Newcastle-upon-Tyne.

He is being christening in the city centre so ideally the venue needs to be as close to there as possible. It would be a Saturday or Sunday. Does anyone have any ideas?

  • Why is the sea blue?

As a child i was told that the colour of the sea came from the skies reflection. If that is so then why is the sea blue on satellite photos even when they are taken from the side of the Earth which currently has night?

  • Is there a babies first christmas poem relevant to babies in intensive care?

My baby boy Sam was born 16 weeks early so will be spending his first christmas in Special care. I have searched everywhere I can think of for a relevant poem. Nothing too religious.
