  • Lawn mower won't pull back?

I have a John Deere JX75 21" walk behind lawn mower. I like the mower. Recently it won't let me pull it back. I engage the wheels going forward, but when I pull it back (like mowing under a tree) the wheels freeze up.

    How do I fix this?

  • Snowblower, the wheels are not turning when cold.?

So when the snowblower is cold (relatively, as in just starting up) the wheels turn very slowly if at all. As the thing warms up, they start to work. Eventually they work properly when the job is about 1/4 of the way done (about ten to fifteen minutes).

This snowblower is 1130SB-XLS Husqvarna. It has a hydrostatic transmission. All that part is sealed.

The unit is about five years old.

Is this a belt tension issue? What other clues?

  • What's the difference, functionally, between Ipod Touch and Ipad2.?

I have an Ipod Classic. SO has an IPAD2. I am thinking of getting an IPOD Touch and passing the classic onto MIL. I use the IPOD for Podcasts and while driving to and from work.

So if I upgrade to the IPOD Touch can I use the same car adapter (it's plugs into the bottom of the classic and charges and has a mini transmitter to connect to the FM radio).

I am thinking the Touch will also connect to the Internet.

What else should I be looking for?

  • How do I eliminate the "USER LOGIN" screen in Windows 7?

I am the only user on this computer. When ever it goes to idle and I come back to it it come up in the user login screen. So I have to select which user I am, which is only me, before I get back to what I am doing. Is there a way to remain logged on so that when you come back from idle state it comes automatically back to where I was.

I hope that is clear. Thanks

  • Toyota power question?

I am looking at a 2010 Toyota Tacoma pickup.

I want extended cab, ac, auto, cruise, and a tow hitch.

The dealer has a 4 cylinder 4x2 unit that interests me. The price is good.

To get to the six cylinder you need to get 4x4.

I tow a small (5x8) open utility trailer sometimes. Usually to get manure from a local farm for my wife's garden or the mulch for the bushes, sometimes furniture or appliances. So nothing heavy and not long distances.

So the question is: Will the 4 cylinder 4x2 be powerful enough?

The specs say: 159 hp @ 5200 rpm for the 4 cylinder and 236 hp @ 5200 rpm for the 6 cylinder.

My current Chevy S10 has a 6 cylinder that specs say develops 180 hp @ 4400 rpm.

Again do I need the 6 cylinder Toyota?

  • Are there any real computer optimizers?

The systems that I have seen on line only want money. I'm broke. What manual function that is built into the operating system (Vista) does the optimizer really run.

We know it is not doing something that is out side the options you have on your machine to start. So what do they do?

    Thanks

  • Do people have to pay to get food stamps?

For example if they get a card worth $100, what did it cost the person?

  • Why is the bill that recently passed referred to as Health Care Reform?

The changes caused by the bill are health insurance changes. It does not reform health care but health insurance. So why not call it health insurance reform.

Just because someone has insurance, does not mean that they will get the health care they want or need.

I have insurance but it does not cover eyes or renal failure or chiropractic care. So I would qualify as having coverage. But there are some things that I would not be able to get.

  • Is the black/tar paper required under hardwood floor?

I am helping to install a hardwood floor into my neighbor's house. I have done two similar floors before this one. In both of those cases, I used the black paper between the sub-floor and the hardwood. I hand stapled the paper down and than installed the floor using staples with the air powered hardwood floor machine. Both of those floors came out well and I am very satisfied.

My neighbor purchased the wood for his project at Lumber Liquidators. He was told that "since he is putting a wood pattern into the floor" he should not use the black paper." The pattern is just a border about 1 foot in from the wall using a darker wood.

I thought the black paper was installed to prevent squeaking between the floor and the sub-floor.

So should we use the black paper or not????

What would happen if we do not install the paper?

Cost savings is not an issue. We are not being wasteful, just don''t want to cheap out on an important item.

    THANKS A WHOLE LOT.

  • Does anyone get along with family?

I have two sisters, the third has passed away. Until she was sick none of us talked to each other. We all live in different states. I have not see on sister in at least twenty years.

Recently my brother and I have started talking and we share some common values. My two sisters have no common values as we do.

My wife and her siblings can tell you all the faults of each other. Oh they are friendly to each other when face to face but behind the back; well let's say you don't need to know where the cutlery is. (meaning back stabbing).

Is this normal or do people actually love and respect family members.

Frankly, I feel guilty that if not related, I would not be friends with my family members.

Is this even close to "normal".

  • Has anyone else used this expression.?

I missed washing a small space on the car.

I told my wife that a the color of the car was such that when wet it looks clean and so I left those "Holidays".

I recall the expression of missing a spot as a "Holiday". Like I took a Holiday when I came to that spot.

I thought I heard it when in the Military referred to painting. If you missed a spot you had taken a holiday when you came to that spot.

Please confirm for my wife that this is not something I made up in my head.

    Thanks.

  • How do you see this issue?

I want to believe in the new President but I am having some first week issues.

    1. His appointee for Sec of Treasury had to pay back taxes because he had made a mistake in the tune of 35 thousand. We can't find someone who pays his taxes for this job??? What is up with that?

    2. Obama says no lobbyists will work in the White House but according to an article I read on AP there is a person who working there who was a lobbyist for an electronic firm just before coming to WH. I am not suggesting a broken law but it was Obama who set the standard and then broke the standard. So what is the rule?

    3. How do you talk about closing GITMO for two years and when you get into office you need a commission to plan how to close it and you want to take a year to do that. I hope it gets closed but I am disappointed that he had no plan for how to get that done. Was he blowing smoke up our skits all this time??? What's up with that.

    4. Tonight I read on Yahoo.com that earmarks are not allowed in the new Stimilus Bill so they have worked around that issues so that we can't tell that they are there. My 5 year old grand daughter could have planned that. If parent say no, you just do it out of their sight. Did Obama not plan for this?

I wish him well. And I think that his 1st 100 days are going to be tough. I am not impressed with his first week.

What am I missing? How is this change?

  • Did oil prices cause current crisis?

    Here is my theory.

The economic crisis we are currently in is the result of us reacting to high gas prices differently than we had before.

In the past oil prices went up we did nothing different. Sure we thought about better gas mileage. But from 1970s to 2000s cars got about twenty MPG and we continued to increase the miles we drove so the usage goes up regardless of the cost. In fact we even buy Hummers and SUV that proved that we did not care about the cost of oil/gasoline.

In the mean time people are buying bigger houses than they can afford but this would have continued to work as long as the value, on paper, of these house continued to raise.

So all of a sudden the "experts" allow the cost of oil and more particularly gasoline to reach and exceed $4 per gallon. Now people changed behavior.

Now people decided to drive less.

Companies cut back because of the high cost of gasoline. Jobs get harder to find and keep.

People decide us less fuel for the first time.

So watch this. In 1970 the min wage was about $1 and a gallon of gas was about 32 cents. So it took about 20 minutes to earn a gallon of gas. This twenty minutes at min wage holds true up until a gallon of gas costs about $2.18 and in July 09 it will be $2.41. When gas is $4 per gallon it currently takes over 35 minutes to earn a gallon.

Without thinking in these term people reacted to this real increased cost.

So you see the real cost of gas has spiked and this has caused the rest of the house of cards to fall.

If the "experts" had kept the price of a gallon of gas at 18 to 20 minutes of work at Minimum Wage, this would not have happened.

Now comes Obama whose task is to put this house of cards back together. I say GOD BLESS HIM.

At the same time don't pin this all on Bush. It is our reaction to a market place event.

    I look forward to comments.

  • Why would the Geneva Conventions apply to terrorist?

The terrorists in GITMO are not soldiers of a sovereign nation.

The Geneva Convention was set up to protect soldiers who in the line of duty in a declared war are captured by the opposition.

It deals with two nations, two state or heads of state and how to treat the combatants.

These terrorists are not soldiers pledged allegiance to a state, They are international bad guys.

    Geneva Convention should not apply.

Should they be treated as US citizens? If so let them have the bacon and eggs or other pork products that will damm them to hell.

Here is where this gets sticky. Is it torture to let these guys live when what they want to get to Allah and bring as many of us with them as they can.

So I say let them be tried in USA and sentenced to life working on a pig farm in some hot state. (Not Vermont).
