  • Was I wrong for a pulling away when a customer at my job tried to grab my arm?

We were very busy at my job the other day with a long line of people. I was running back and forth doing 100 things at once , when a woman I was walking past reached out to grab my arm. I pulled my arm away and said "excuse me!!" and she pulled her arm back. My coworker (not my boss) said I was rude to do that. I do not like to be touched and everyone at my job knows that. I work in a place where customers can be very aggressive. There have been a few instances where I have said something when someone was in my personal space.

  • What do you think of this weird work situation?

My job is getting to be less and less pleasant to work at. One coworker told me last week that 2 sisters who work with us were trying to get me fired so their other sister can have my job. Today One of the sisters SCREAMED at me not to tell her how to do her job when all I did was relay a message from the manager on some minor thing that he wanted her to do that she does not agree with. I said to her,"Please do not get mad at me, I just have to tell you that (boss) wants us to (new way of doing something)" She screamed at me for a few minutes that I should not tell her how to do her job, and she does not need me to tell her anything and on and on. etc, then it was time for her to leave for the day, and she stormed out.We get along but she is also very moody. Maybe she was mad about something else, or maybe she does want

me to quit. The coworker who said the sisters were trying to get me fired is a troublemaker. She will run in and tell the boss any time anyone makes a small mistake.

  • Is my boss planning on firing me or trying to get me to quit?

I was out from work for over a week last month due to severe back pain. Ever since then, my boss has been rude and hostile to me at times. He has also hired a new person and wants me to show her everything I do so she can be my backup. He was planning hiring someone before I was absent. I am not sure if he is trying to get rid of me because he wants the new girl to take over, if he is stressed about something else, or if I am just imagining the whole thing as I do tend to overthink things and assume the worst.Maybe him or his boss wants to get rid of me because they are afraid I will be a liability with my back issue and he is trying to get me to quit?He also said after I came back yesterday after my regular day off "We did fine without you yesterday" and a coworker joked about when the boss was "going to yell at Debra again" I also want to add that he came up behind me and poked me in the back to get my attention to reprimand me about my voicemail light being on. The company does have a strict policy about checking voicemail and the light had been on less than 5 minutes. I told him that I had just checked the voicemail and to not poke me like that.

  • I lost my job, what reason should I give to interviewers?

I lost my job unexpectedly, the one person in the office who does not like me was promoted......she told me "everything you were told or offered when --------- hired you is now gone." She gave me a choice between unemployment or a demotion. I chose unemployment (the pay is the same had I accepted the demotion) I havent interviewed yet, but I was thinking of just saying my job was eliminated, or the postition I was hired for was eliminated (I know not to mention the demotion). It was quite a shock, I was there about a year, I was called into the manager's office for "a meeting" next thing I know I'm being marched out the door....of course I will leave that out in an interview, I am still in shock even though its been over a month.

Also, as a cat owner do you think I would make good cat food?

  • What reason should I give for looking for a job again so soon, after 6 months?

job of 6 months is not what I expected. I am customer service/sales for my employer. About 80% of the calls I take are from lower income people calling in because they angry about something, I am then expected to try to sell to them. My co workers are lazy, have bad attitudes and try to blame each other all the time.Morale is low, and are several office talltlers. There are also a few people in the office who are picked on as if it was middle school.( I am not one of them) The company is also involved in some unethical practices, tricking people into buying, etc. there is a lot of turnover also.My supervisor taps/pokes me in the back or shoulder sometimes to get my attention. I have an injury from an accident and do not appreciate this. The last time she did it, I said "I hate when people do that "but I am not sure if she heard me or not.Even before my injury(which is permanent but I do NOT want this known at work) I was not a touchy feely person. I am a hardworking reliable employee with a positive attitude but I have my boundaries and limits, and personal space is something I feel strongly about. Next time she does it, I will simply say "I prefer you not poke me like that" Today my boss(not the poking supervisor) told I have to improve by March or I could lose my job. What reason should I give for leaving? I realize this job is not a good match for me, but I dont want to sound whiny or knock my current job at an interview..the job and I just do not match, and if I do get fired, what reason should I give?

  • I am considering looking for a new job after 6 months because my job is not a good match?

My new job is tolerable, but not what I expected. I am customer service/sales for my employer. About 80% of the calls I take are from lower income people calling in because they angry about something, I am then expected to try to sell to them. My co workers are lazy, have bad attitudes and try to blame each other all the time. There are also a few people in the office who are picked on as if it was middle school.( I am not one of them) My sales numbers are very bad and I am afriad I may lose my job eventually. The company is also involved in some unethical practices, tricking people into buying things, etc. there is a lot of turnover also. I will add that it has its advantages- the pay and hours are great and the commute is very short. I will probably stay and keep trying. But If I lose my job, what reason should I give for leaving?

  • Personal space issue at work..I am NOT a touchy feely person. Supervisor taps/pokes me in the back or shoulder?

My Supervisor taps/pokes me in the back or shoulder sometimes to get my attention. I have an injury from an accident and do not appreciate this. The last time she did it, I said "I hate when people do that "but I am not sure if she heard me or not.Even before my injury(which is permanent but I do NOT want this known at work) I was not a touchy feely person. One of co workers told me to stop being so dramatic. I am a very good reliable employee but I have my boundaries and limits, and personal space is something I feel strongly about. Next time she does it, I will simply say "I prefer you not poke me like that" I will also add that she had issues before with others in the office, most of the office has complained about her to higher ups, she almost lost her job, actually got demoted down one notch, she only reason they kept her is because they need her for her extreme knowledge of the buisness. I get along with her very well, I just a private introverted person and dont like to be touched!! I have been in a lot of situations where my needs were ignored, but I am no longer allowing people to do this to me. Am I being "overly dramatic?' I really dont thnk so..

  • How can get someone out of my house? Lodger roomer?

My now ex friend is still living in my house 2 months after I asked him to move out. I own the house and noone else lives here. He has made me fear for my safety in addition to exploiting me finanacially. He has brought his violent son here, along with assorted criminals, and made his own threats, bullied me, etc. I cannot afford a long drawn out legal thing financially or emotionally. I prefer not to turn to family because I dont want to hear their "I told you so's" Isnt there some sort of different process for evicting a lodger? How about a dangerous one? Do I need proof? Of course he didint threaten and bully me in front of witnesses.

  • Weird work situation, what do you think?

Some of my coworkers are upset at changes being made in the company, so they have started coming to work dressed as if they have an interview, and giving vague answers when asked as to why they are so dressed up. We are a business casual office, and these dressed up coworkers are quite obvious. Some of them think its funny, but I think its childish and could backfire, what do you guys think?

  • I am going to ask my boyfriend to move out. He is cheating on me.?

Bf and I have been having problems a while, now I KNOW he is cheating on me.I am 100% percent positive-he has a personal ad and I figured out the password. I want him to move out. The catch is he has a bad temper-so I was thinking of calling him on his cell and telling him I know whats going on, and I need him to move out.I will call him when I know he wont be home for a while so he has time to cool off. He hasnt been violent towards me, but he is a yeller, and I dont want the neighbors to hear. I cannot talk to my family about this, all I will get from them is "I told you so" Any other suggestions, besides telling him over the phone and giving him to cool off? I do not want a big confrontation, or embarassment, I just want him out. I own the house.I will just tell my family he moved by mutual agreement.I can manage financially on my own I earn more than he does, and I will not allow him to live here while he sees other women.I am also sick of his weird friends and psycho family

  • How much abuse to do you have to take in your customer service job?

I have worked in customer services for about 10 years. Every company is different with how much abuse you are expected to take. I have had jobs where I had to just take endless abuse, personal insults and just stand there and smile, and I have had jobs where I am allowed to hang up on or walk away from very nasty customers.
