The problem is not that there ARE problems. The problem is expecting otherwise and thinking that HAVING problems is a problem. —Theodore Rubin

  • Yahoo Mail preview of docx files?

Usually my Yahoo Mail lets me preview Microsoft Word files.

These new MS Word 2007 "docx" files based on xml will not open in Yahoo Mail using the "Outside In" reader.

I have had to ask people to resend with an older version.

Since Yahoo tech support does not even understand my question, does anyone have a clue if and when this will be fixed?

    Typical Yahoo tech support answer:

"Thank you. Your question is very important to us. Regarding the preview of MS Word documents in Yahoo Mail. Simply click the preview link next to .doc files for a preview of the word document. Thanks again for your interest in Yahoo Mail"

  • What does the Hungarian word Rigától mean?

I have tried the various Hungarian dictionaries on the web and it is not listed.

But if you Google for it (with or without the accents) it always comes up on Hungarian web sites.

I think it might mean "from Riga" -- the capital of Latvia.

I was searching the Ellis Island site and some of my relatives came over from "Rigától" in the late 1890's.

None of the auto-translation sites seem to have Hungarian either :((

  • Looking for a certain mini webcam stand - not a tripod :)))?

Looking for this exact little blue plastic webcam stand.

I don't know who makes it. Looked all over it with a magnifying glass for any kind of logo or name -- no luck.

The auction sites have a zillion "mini tripods", but I don't want a wobbly little tripod, just a simple swiveling stand.

It is a little less than 3 inches across, see picture on photobucket:

  • How do scientists pronounce a specific gene locus like 6p21.3 ?

In genetics a locus is a fixed position on a chromosome, such as the position of a gene. The chromosomal locus of a gene might be written "6p21.3". Here the 6 is the chromosome number. The letter p indicates that the position is on the chromosome's short arm (example from Wikipedia).

So would a scientist read this out loud as "six P two one dot three" for instance?
