We want to translate a few words into Spanish to make a design. I can find the word for lesbian (lesbiana) but I'm not finding Spanish translations for gay, bisexual, or transgender. Is it because those words don't exist in the language? What words are used? I don't want to use any terms that are offensive in my graphic.

I'm a librarian, and I'm trying to make a list of award winning lesbian historical fiction. For some reason, "lesbian" is a subject heading on the book Bastard Out of Carolina by Dorothy Allison. But I can't find any reviews, reports, or summaries that say anything about there being any lesbians in the book!

If anyone has read this book, can you tell me first, is there any lesbian content? And would you recommend the book to lesbians looking for historical fiction?

My aunt just sent me a forward of 9 safety tips for women that upon a quick search on Snopes.com, are complete and total crap. This forward contains complete lies and poor advice for dangerous situations. I really want to email my aunt and everyone she forwarded this to and tell them to ALWAYS check something out on Snopes before forwarding it around. Is there a polite way to do this? What should I say?

I graduated 5 years ago and during senior year a friend told me that she was having an affair with a teacher. She swore me to secrecy and said she was blowing him during lunch hour. His wife was pregnant with their third child at the time. To my knowledge, only me and one other person knew about this.

I no longer am friends with this girl, and I've been thinking about this a lot lately. While she was 18 at the time this was supposedly happening, I feel uncomfortable with him still being a teacher.

How should I handle this? Should I tell someone? Should I just forget about it? I keep thinking that he might be preying on other girls, and while my friend never saw the affair as exploitative, his next girlfriend might. However I have no proof this actually happened, just what she told me... and I would hate to drag her in by name and ruin her marriage (she was cheating on her boyfriend-now-husband with this teacher) or ruin his career...

Should I do something about this?

My girlfriend is allergic to most scents, so we have been using Purex Free and Clear, but in just a few months it has left almost all our clothes looking old, pilly, and dingey. If you add a title to an image in a website, is there a set number of characters you have to work with? My descriptions are just too long and keep cutting off mid sentence. How can I make the title display the whole thing?

We're not really sure what to make of it. My girlfriend is a massage therapist at this salon spa where half the staff is gay including the owners nephew. They've been having lots of money problems (break in, accounting error, slow business) lately.

So after weeks of not being able to get paid, my girlfriend picked up her check on Tuesday, and on the pay stub it says "Read Phils 4:13" which I dutifully looked up: "I can do everything through him who gives me strength" (NIV). The handwriting matches the owners signature on the check.

We're really not sure what to make of this. We're both Wiccan/Neo-pagan (she was raised Wiccan, I came to it as a young adult). Is this an anti-gay thing? Is she trying to convert us? Is this like a prayer for prosperity? Why was this on her pay stub? We are mystified.

My neighbor just cut the leafy stalks of his irises down to about 6 inches. I've never had irises before, they came with the house. I don't even know what kind they are because I've never seen them bloom. Should I be cutting these things down or leaving them alone?
