  • Cruise to Hawaii in January--Rough Seas?

I am planning a 15 day cruise from LA to Hawaii in January and, while I'm finding a lot about the weather, I'm concerned about the amount of time we'll be at sea. Does anyone know how rough the seas are during that time of the year?

  • Should a packed wound hurt?

I had a cyst removed over the course of two days, and today the doctor packed the wound. It didn't hurt yesterday, but today it hurts something awful. Is this normal for a packed wound to hurt even when not actively getting it packed? Could it be infected?

  • In 1870s/80s America, were wills common practice? What would happen to someone's money upon their death?

I am writing a novel about a man in the 1870s/80s who has a substantial amount of money that he inherited from his father. My character, Baker, is unmarried with no children, and until presently his will has left the bulk of his money to his only surviving brother, Jasper. He wants his common law wife and her children to inherit the money upon his death. Does he need a will to change this or would it just be expected that his common law wife would inherit his fortune?

  • Son is a bit of a momma's boy?

My six year old son likes doing guy things with his dad, as long as I'm not around. But as soon as I walk through the room to go to another room, he will stop whatever he's doing, and follow me, asking, "Do you need any help?" Needless to say, this hurts his dad's feelings. What can I do to change this? I don't encourage it, but he still tends to be a momma's boy.

  • 7th birthday party ideas?

My son is turning 7 in August in Arizona. It will be hot, about 100 to 110 degrees. We are thinking about having it at the community park, where there is a play structure and a splash pad. Question: what other activities might work well for a group of kids ages 4 to 8?

  • Camping in Prescott, AZ?

Can someone give me some suggestions on places to tent camp in or around Prescott, AZ during the summer? Somewhere you've been, please. We will have kids, and one or several of the following, depending on what there is to do: bicycles, kayaks, quads. Thank you!

  • Men's hair in the 1880s?

I am writing a novel set in Arizona in the 1880s. I have a visual image of the male protagonist, but he has slightly longish hair. Was there any instance where longish hair would have been worn in the Victorian era?

  • Can cigarette smoke turn silver plate dark?

I found an old pair of salt and pepper shakers. I'm positive they're silver plate, but they are a lot darker than the identical ones I found on the internet. My grandparents were heavy smokers. Could their cigarette smoke have built up and turned this silver plate dark? If so, how can I clean it? Or should I?

  • Giving away toys: a problem?

My almost 6 year old is a very generous little boy and I often hear him trying to give away his toys to the kid next door. Should I be worried that he will become a victim of bullies as he gets older or even now?

  • Can a builder auction a foreclosed house for less than 80% in California?

Need some advice from a Realtor or financial manager in California.

My sister bought a new house from a builder and used her current house as collateral until the first house sold and she could pay off the new house. The first house has not sold and now the builder has filed a Notice of Default on both houses. She thinks that the builder cannot auction the houses for less than 80% of their appraised value. She thinks that if the builder ends up auctioning the houses for at least 80% of their value, that she will end up getting the remaining of the profit, after the new house is paid off. I think this is wrong. I worry that she will be up for a bad surprise in a couple of weeks. Is this accurate?

  • Four year old and play time?

My four and a half year old son can only play by himself for maybe 3 minutes a day. Not at a stretch, that's per day. And most of the time, when he goes to play, he has to ask me, "What can I do?" And I have to give him something to go and play with. I offer to take him to the park, and he says he just wants to stay home and play, but then he can't figure out what to play with. He does however, always want to help me with everything. Sometimes, Mom just needs a break.

  • Beetle-Like Bug in Arizona?

Help! I just moved to Arizona. I just opened the garage door from the house and saw something dark run past me. I looked down and saw that I had managed to step on it. The bug was black and brown and resembled a cockroach or beetle of some kind. The bottom of my shoe had a white goo on it where I stepped on it. What is it? I bug-bombed the house before I moved in. Help!

  • Sony Camcorder TRV-740 and Vista?

I have had a TRV-740 for six years now, and just recently got a new computer with Vista. The computer was not recognizing the camcorder through a USB, so I called Sony and they told me that I need an iLink cable. I bought it, but it's still not recognizing it. Sony's website claims that this camcorder is compatible with Vista. Dell blames Sony, Sony blames Dell. Help!

  • Strange "nest-like" thing in grass?

In the middle of our lawn, we have these strange off-white blobs that kind of resemble cauliflower. They are hard on the outside, but if you poke a stick in them (or step on them, I found out), they are brown and gooey. We do not have a dog, and no neighbor dogs have visited, and they do not look or smell like dog droppings. I'm thinking that maybe it's a nest of some kind??? Insect?

  • "Unsupported content type" on Sprint/Nextel i265 phone model?

For the last three months, I have been able to access my hotmail account through my i265. Then, all of a sudden, one morning, I get an error message that says, "Unsupported Content Type". I can access all other websites, thought, except for hotmail. Sprint/Nextel is saying it's MSNs problem, MSN is saying it's Sprint/Nextel problem. Nobody's been any help, so I'm turning to Yahoo answers. Anyone experience this before? Help!!

I have done a master reset four times (per Nextel's recommendations) along with numerous other things.

    Thanks!
