  • Having trouble losing any weight. Please don't respond with bad advice like drink only water.?

I have been on a 1200 calorie per day low carb diet for 6 weeks. I have not lost one pound. Am 51 years old and aware that hormonal changes make it more difficult however I've never not been able to lose at least a few pounds with diet and exercise.

  • The "name" for my yahoo account is not my name - please help?

    HI,

For some reason when people send me an email it is showing up with the name Barri Gordon. I can't find anywhere in my preferences that show anything but either my name or lauri203@yahoo.com. I have searched and searched and can't find the answer to this. At some point I must have had an account with that name but no more, and I don't see it anywhere.

Please assist with changing my primary email (lauri203) back to my actual name instead of this incorrect name. How do I do this?

    Thank you!!

  • How to get smell out of black jeans?

I have already washed them multiple times and left them out in the sun. I also have washed 5 times now using vinegar in the rinse cycle (1/2 - 3/4 cup each time). They still smell :( Manufacturers must be aware of this yet they do nothing and the only reason I can think of is perhaps there really isn't a way to get rid of it.

If anyone has actually found a way to do this please let me know.

    Thanks!

  • Safari - new Apple MacAir - Constantly losing WiFi connections!?

Constantly, since I purchase this computer 2 months ago - it doesn't matter where I am (home, work, Starbucks etc) I keep losing my Wifi connection. When I click on the icon at the top it says 'WiFi: Looking for Networks" then it usually reconnects. Sometimes it's just annoying (a few times an hour) and sometimes (like tonight) it is constant to the point that I really can't use the internet effectively. I am SO sick of this. Everyone said "Buy a MAC...you will LOVE it" - well I think it's a great little machine but this is ridiculous, I never had these kind of connection issues on a PC. Does anyone have an idea what is going on and how to fix it?

    Thanks!

  • How to best treat GERD?

I have been taking Omeprazole (Prilosec) for 5 years and generally don't get acid kickback anymore. Recent endoscopy show continued damage from GERD. My doctor gave me two choices but didn't know which might work best. She said I could up the omeprazole from 20 mg to 40 mg or keep the 20 mg omeprazole and add Pepcid daily. Has anyone had experience with this, and which option might work better? I've been getting that "lump in throat" feeling after I eat so I assume the GERD is acting up.

    Thanks!

  • Help for an amazing friend?

My best friend owns an amazing vintage clothing store. She is a remarkable person who lost everything (store, home, etc) in Katrina a few years ago. She lived in a Kia for 2 months with her teenage son (and two cats) and then a FEMA trailer for 2 years. She slowly reopened her business piece by piece and now has her own (very small) store again. However, she struggles every week to buy groceries, keep her son in college, pay bills. Her store and knowledge are amazing, and everyone that comes through the door is impressed by both her and her vintage items. The store was having a good year in 2010 and the the BP Oil Spill happened. It's just been a long difficult road back. She never wants to take anything from anyone and has a strength that I can only hope to have one day. I'd love to find a show that might find a way to help her with her business.

If anyone has ideas about where to look I would appreciate it.

    Thanks!

  • Why won't my Yahoo mail send?

Each time I press send it just says "sending" and eventually errors out. I can't seem to find where Yahoo knows this or is working on it. Does anyone know where I can find that info?

    Thanks

  • Carb Counting Diet Questions?

    Hi,

I'd like to start limiting my carb intake because I am a true carb lover. I know enough to eat whole grain, legumes, etc. but even when I am careful my weight won't go down. I've found even following a Weight Watchers type diet isn't working anymore (I'm in my late 40's so I realize that weight loss becomes more difficult at this point).

I've finally had to admit that my carb intake needs to come down. I don't want something extreme like Atkins (did it once, it worked but boy was I a bit*h :), I was miserable.

What I'd like to know is what is a good amount of carbs per day - perhaps I'd start for a while at the low end so my body goes into ketosis. Ideally I'd like to have a bowl of cereal or protein/granola type bar each day and some dessert at night (like a jello sugar free mousse).

If you have any experience with this or advice I would appreciate it.

    Thanks!

  • Best diet for person who likes carbs?

    Hi,

I've tried a few diets over the years - Atkins was successful for a short while but I couldn't live without carbs. I'd like to find a diet that will have fairly good results in 2 months or so but one that allows carbs.

I've done WW and for some reason my last go-round (2 months) didn't really allow for much weight loss. I have about 20 lbs to lose and am 46 years old - finding it hard to get rid of the pounds for the last few years. I do not eat fast food, fried foods and am pretty careful about too many sweets. I'm not a big veggie or fish eater which can make some diets difficult.

Is there any good way to jump start my weight loss in the next two months that would still allow me carbs and variety?

Thanks in advance for your advice!

  • Why am I getting old emails?

Every single day for a few weeks now I keep getting emails from 2004 and 2003. All from different people and emails. Its kind of creepy especially since one was from an ex and another from a friend who died a few years ago. They can be upsetting. Doea anyone know why this is happening? I can't get an answer from Yahoo so far.

    Thanks

  • How to best help Dad after rehab?

My Dad just checked into a detox rehab today. He has been a functioning alcoholic for my whole life (46 years). He has been in/out of AA but it has been years. He is now 76 and his health is suffering. I'm hoping that he can do it this time. I'm wondering how best to help him once he is out. I looked up Al-Anon, is that for those who have a family member in recovery, I couldn't quite figure that out. Is it wise for him to have some sort of one on one or family counseling locally once he is home?

If anyone has experience with this I would truly appreciate your input.

    Thank you

  • What is wrong with Yahoo Email Auto-Fill?

I can not stand this anymore! For weeks now my Yahoo "Premium" mail has not allowed me to auto fill in the names when I go to send an email. I have to go to the address book and look up each one. I've tried emailing support but no answer.

Does anyone know what is going on?

    Thanks!

Normally when I go to send a mail I just start typing the persons name and if they are in my address book it autofills. For the last few days it wont' fill in and I have to go to the address book and click on the name. Time consuming and annoying.

Is anyone else having this issue - or do you know a way to fix it?

  • How to move favorites to IE8?

I bought a new Toshiba laptop today. The Geek Squad put all my data from my old Vista computer to this new one with Windows 7. I can find the file yet for some reason when I go to favorites and try to import them it won't let me. I've tried to cut but it won't let me paste. When I get into the file by browsing it seems to want me to select each one manually (which would only take about a year).

Any easy way to do this? I even called the Tech Geek Squad number and they couldn't figure it out either.

    Thanks!

  • Laptop and TV won't work together?

    Hi,

I picked up a VGA cable at BEst Buy the other day. I was advised that as long as my TV has the port (it does) and my laptop has the port (it does) all I have to do it connect the two and then hit FN/F5 on my Toshiba laptop and it should work....it doesn't.

I went through all the input options on my TV - all of them, including HDMI, Video, etc. Nothing seems to show up on the screen. I am sure they are connected, and my screen on the laptop is showing photos (or I also tried a TV show from cw.com). Nothing seems to work.

Is there a step I am missing or a better way to do this? I want to be able to use my TV as a "monitor" to watch online TV shows, view photos, etc. My TV is new, a flat screen Insignia from Best Buy and the laptop is a Toshiba Satellite Pro.

    Thank you!

  • How to watch computer on TV?

I like to watch Hulu.com and other sites but don't enjoy watching them on my little computer screen. Can anyone advise the best way to watch online programming on my television - preferably without buying a new TV (i.e. Google TV etc). I've seen what looks like a box that maybe transmits wirelessly? I'm not very techie so I appreciate the assistance and would like the simplest method.

    Thank you!
