  • Are we too strict?

My son is 19 and his girlfriend is 17.

They have been dating for a month. My son recently has moved home after having a very rocky relationship with my husband and myself. He had great difficulties with conforming to any household rules that were very reasonable. Go to school, be home on school nights by 10:30pm the latest ( he was 17 at the time) He never seemed to care too much about how we felt if he didn't conform.

He is very stubborn and chose to live with friends until he got into some trouble and has since moved back home. Now he is disrespecting our wishes to not sleep with his girlfriend in the house.

He is not working yet and is out of school. He stays up all night and refuses to do much of anything unless it works for him. We have had big fights in the past and we don't want to do this again but even with talking to him and his girlfriend on 3 occasions, they still disrespect us. I have even gone to the point of sending her home at 6am when I get up to go to work. She is very quiet and leaves and even says sorry each time. I like her and have had talks with her about our sons issues and how we are trying to keep respect in the household but she needs to go home to sleep. It is tough because he is 19. I don't want to be overly strict but I feel strongly about this and see this as disrespectful to us.

My husband feels the same. We are going to go to family counselling to try and make things better but it is a 8 week wait. That might be too late.

  • When can I start briskly exercising after having pneumonia?

I had pneumonia (moderate case) not hospitalized but drugs and puffers given.

I am feeling a lot better but still feel slightly congested in my chest and my voice is still not back to normal yet. I want to go back to my walking- about a mile a day or mile and a half (briskly) but I am unsure of when I should do this.

I don't want the pneumonia to come back. I live in Canada and it is cold out so I will do most of my walking on a tread mill inside.

    Thoughts?

    Thanks!

  • One word to describe who you are?

Only one... a descriptive word that says the most prominent thing about you.

Take a moment to think about that one word that best describes who you are.

This is a little social test.

    Thanks for answering!

  • Define this sentence if you can?

I have heard a saying and I just don't get it.

If anyone can tell me what this is suppose to mean and in what context, that would be great.

I believe it is suppose to be used as a "put down".

    Here it is:

(Does your mother have any children that lived?)

    Thanks in advance.

  • How many people know what to do if the vehicle they are in is submerged in water?

I think this is a good question as three young university students just died in their car when it went into a lake.

  • Why would my doctor say that Diabetes is NOT a chronic illness?

The H1N1 flu shot clinics are set up right now for people who are high risk. This being people who are over 65, under 5 and people who have chronic illnesses. I am diabetic ~ insulin dependent.

Personally, I don't really want to get the shot. I have not ran in to line up early for it. My doctor said that being diabetic is not considered high risk.

I don't really respect my doctor that much as he has not been much of help in the past. This really put me right off.

What are your thoughts on this?

  • Do you ever get a really bad feeling that something bad is going to happen but you can't explain it?

I get this feeling sometimes ~ rarely, but it can be something that indirectly affects me or directly affects me and usually within a week or so. Does anyone else ever feel that sixth sense type feeling?

For the most part something usually happens ~ it could be I witness something that affects how I feel and then there is a weird sense of relief that it is over.

Man, it is a really weird feeling....

(PS. I am not smoking anything....lol)

  • Euro-rail, I need some help with a few questions, have you ever rode it.?

I am flying into Frankfurt Germany and need to take the train from the airport to Stuttgart. I have never taken the train in Europe. I have a few questions for someone who already knows.

    1. My train ride is 73 minutes.. and is $115 Canadian dollars, does this sound about right?

    2. How long does it take to get from your arriving plane in Frankfurt to the train station in the basement of the airport?

    3. Will I get a seat on the train if I pay at the time of boarding? I don't want to pay ahead of time in case my plane is late. The trains are at exact times. My flight comes in at 5:50am. The first train is at 6:55am.

    4. With the flight time given above, will I make it to the train at 6:55am?

I believe I am flying into terminal 3.

    5. How fast does the train go?

Thank you for helping me out.

  • I admit, I am ill-informed about the Middle East, can you help?

I am looking for people to answer who actually have a better understanding of what is happening in the world. I am not looking for the "lets kill them all" reply. I would love to know who the groups of people are that are peaceful and want to just live their lives and who the people are that hate all Americans and want to kill the Infidels... who are these people? They cannot be all grouped together. There must be extremists... but who are they? What are we doing wrong to them? I am sure, very sure ..many people are wondering the same things. Thank you for your answers.

  • How do you become less involved with a friend w/o making too obvious?

I have a friend who has been getting moody and says some pretty sharp comments. She works at my work and is about 22 years older than me. I think her age and her personality are starting to grow together in a critical way. She is not overly liked at work for her ability to make people feel uncomfortable at times. She is sharp with her words but if you tell her, she doesn't see it. I feel abit bad but at the same time, I am realizing I will not be taking it any more. She makes me feel uncomfortable at times. ie. I sometimes put on suntanning lotion (I live in the great white north-Canada) so I wanna have some colour. She makes comments in front of other people at work like.. "you look orange!", which of course makes me feel bad. Or, she says things that are critical of others. People just look at her and ignore her. One time I said, "hey way to make me feel good about myself" She just looked at me and said "oh it's not that bad". She does this to many people. BUT.. her and I have been pretty good friends and gone on many out of work functions together, even trips over the last 5 years ( a bunch of us girls from work ) She has gotten really bad in the last year with everyone. I have approached her but she doesn't get it. She is not mean all the time, don't get me wrong but comes across as very critical. What do you do in a case like this?

People are coming to me at work and saying "you have a lot of patience with her". I want to remain friends but from a distance for a while. Any suggestions?
