My motto is "Give Peace A Chance". I am a vegetarian cook, devotional musician, public speaker, & health consultant who is very concerned about the suffering in the world. We have to identify our own greed and selfishness before we can expose and convict the politicians that we foolishly elect.. There can NEVER be peace in a society whose mis-leaders facilitate slaughterhouses, gambling, & intoxication. As long as we support these habits, we will remain powerless to stand up to the atrocities. We will be a part of the problem instead of the solution. Was Germany ashamed to have supported Hitler after WW II ? Are we not revolted by what the world's leaders are doing ? Why arent we doing anything about it ? What are we pretending not to know ? Chanting the mantra : Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare. will bring us inner peace, and free us from materialism www.vedalearn.com/ayurveda

  • Which Supplements are Fat Soluble besides Vitamins A,D,E, K and Co Q 10?

I want to get the most bang for my buck when it comes to taking supplements. I heard I would be wasting my money if I did not take Co Q 10 with some good fat. If I eat some almonds with the above vitamins and Co Q 10, is that sufficient fat ?

What is the maximum amount of each of the Vitamins and minerals I can take to get the most benefit without over doing it ?

For example, can I take 100 mgs of Vitamin B complex per day instead of the RDA of 50 mg ?

Can I take fat and water soluble vitmains at the same time with my oatmeal in the morning if it has some wheat germ or pumpkin seed oil in it along with the watery oatmeal ?

Are there other supplements that I did not list here that have to be taken with some kind of fat ?

    Thank you

  • I have too many things. I am trying to purge. Is a BJ 100 Canon printer worth keeping ?

I paid about $ 250 for this Canon Printer BJ 100, but a friend said that cartridges for some printers to day are so expensive, you are better off getting a new printer. I have also hear that there are printers that are also scanners and are very compact, which is the direction I need to go in. Is this one worth keeping or should I donate it ?

  • How much are the maximum doses for taking the various Vitamins & Antioxidants ?

    I am a 59 year old lacto-vegetarian.

I don't drink or smoke, but am prone to being hyper , difficulty with concentration due to self-diagnosed ADD, and want to increase my metabolism which is sluggish

I am walking a lot to increase metabolism but have some pain in my knee due to osteo arthritis

I would like to know what are the maximum doses I can take each day of Vitamin's A , B, C, D, E, etc.... as well as if there is a maximum amount of other antioxidants that you can list

How much Spirulina & Chlorella can I take each day ?

Are there any Vitamins / antioxidants that are NOT compatible with each other ?

  • I have been diagnosed with high cholesterol. What are the best foods, supplements etc. to bring this down?

I am a 59 year old vegan / vegetarian male. I dont drink or smoke. My father died of a heart attack when I was 5 yrs old. I was told by my allopathic doctor that I would get a heart attack within the next 10 yrs if I was not careful

I take oats every morning beacuse I heard it is very good for cholesterol, though the best would be to get whole oats and not the QUick ones I am presently using

I refuse to take LIpitor due to how it inhibits Co Q 10 and all it's other side effects

I am a vegan / vegetarian. I have been cutting out cheese but still use some ghee / butter, though I do not heat that nor the olive oil I use , sparingly.

I have access to a lot of supplements and vitamins. What are the main ones that have been proven most efficient in lowering cholesterol ?

I have started to drink coriander tea three times a day and take lime juice with a litle honey which are both supposed to be natural remedies. I am trying to walk and exercise more

Is there a way I can self-diagnose my cholesterol, or do I have to go to a doctor each time ?

I intend to ccut down on salt oil and sugar and I find that not eating carbs at night is heliping me to lose a few pounds around my midsection where it has built up. My goal is to go from 180 lbs to 155 lbs, but I am not sure how to do this exactly

Will losing 25 - 30 lbs help me to have lower cholesterol ?

I am using a fibre supplement of flax seeds a few times a day, and digeestive enzymes, and I feel much less sleepy than I used to after meals

Thanks very much for your suggestions

  • Is Ascorbic Acid a very effective or beneficial source of Vitamin C and does it build up any residue?

I am 59 and had calcium oxalate kidney stones last Christmas. I refused to go through lithotripsy, but got the biggest of three stones out with epsom salts, olive oil and lemon juice. I got rid of all my calcium supplements for fear of more painful stones.

I have lots of TIme Released VItamin C as Ascorbic Acid and was wondering if they are worth taking, and or/ if they might have some side effect in relation to contributing to more kidney stones. I still have two small ones in my kidney. Ascorbic Acid is not Ester - C, or some more highly assimilablee form of Vitamin C , so I am questioning it's value or effects

Secondly, what other minerals or vitamins go well with Vitaminn C for a synergistic benefit ? I am trying to lose 25 pounds and have osteo arthritis in my knee and neck. I guess everyone has too much inflammation in their body, so hopefully Vitamin C will help to bring that down

I am giving up gluten and take little dairy. I am lacto - vegetarian almost vegan and don'tnt drink or smoke

  • I just got over painful kidney stones . Can I still take calcium / magnesium citrate as a supplement ?

I am a 58 yo old vegetarian male. I know that there are four different types of kidney stones. 80 % are caused by calcium binding with oxalic acid ( found in spinach, rhubarb ) I have mild osteoperosis, so I was previously taking calcium - and magnesium supplements. I am worried that more caclium might create more kidney stones .

I managed to get rid of the kidney stones with Chancha Piedra ( stonecrusher ) herb , drinking olive oil and lemon juice and lots of diuretic herbs without allowing them to do lithtripsy which meant to stick a scope up my penis and blasting the stone with laser, which has the possibility of creating the complications of agitating the pancreas resulting in diabetes, so I am into the holistic root.

I was also told to avoid tomato, all dairy, cauliflower, brocolli by an ayurvedic doctor

  • What is a non-drug approach to pain management due to a car accident causing multiple areas of pain?

My friend had a serious car accident a couple of years ago, and she has been having to take injections for the pain in her twisted spinal cord, hips, alongside her neck , various other places & whiplash.

She doesnt want to take the drugs anymore. She also gets migraines. She is giagnosed with fobromyalgia amongst other things

I told her that I found that Cayenne works wonderfully for migraines and my osteo arthritc pain in my knee, and that peppermint and lavender oil work very well on painful aching areas of my body.

Essential fatty acids like flax or hemp oil reduces inflammation, and so does turmeric, and I think ginger. I told her that white sugar will increase it though she craves sweet things.

She also receives an intravenous saline solution each week or two.

    Any other suggestions ?

  • A friend offered to make a website for me, and asking profit-sharing by taking 50 %. Is that a good deal?

I have a great deal of knowledge on holistic healing, and know of some of the topic supplement companies in the industry who have a lot of integrity and provide excellent health benefits and improvements. I want to affiliate myself with several of them, and direct traffic toward my propsed site to begin gnerating income to live with.

The friend who offered to make the site is an IT computer programmer. He deals with top clients in New York and seems to really know what he is doing on the Net. He has a degree in it.

He has asked me to write 50 pages of material educating people on health. I love to communicate, so it will be fun to do and get all my thoughts out there to help people better manage all their illnesses. After I do this, we will look at adding various companies to the stie to direct people to high quality products.

He knows how to deal with the legal end of things, like disclaimers etc....if anyone tries to sue us for anything. He is going to send me a contract for us to work together.

WHat I was wondering about is a scenario where once he has everything up and running, if Im doing all the work after that, trying to direct people to the site, offering them technical support by answering their questions etc.....is it fair that he gets 50 % of all the income that comes in ?

I have never signed a contract like this. I don't want to be greedy or ungreatful, yet I dont want to be taken advantage of either. Is it normal that once someone sets up a site for someone, and the other person is doing all the work to deal with the clients, that the computer guy who set it up gets 50 % of all the profits ?

Any suggestions in what things I should look for or what things I should ask for in such an agreement, and if 50 % is a good deal since i dont know anything about how to manage a site ?

  • Are food based neutraceutical supplements like Ester C worth taking ?

Im a 56 year old male with arthritic fingers, nervousness, Reynaud's syndrome vascular disorder, osteoperosis and ADD.

Im travelling across eastern Canada and normally I dont buy supplements much becasue I cannot afford them, however , as I come across health food stores that have high quality supplements for half the cost, with the expiration date as later in 2011, 2012 - 2013, I value them very much

My freind told me that they think I am wasting money on Ester C for example because if one jsut eats a kiwi, they will get 150 % of what Vit C they need, or jsut eat a lot of oranges.

I dont think its that simple

The quality of our soil is very poor, so the nutrients are not in the food anymore. WE would need to eat a lot of ssomething to get what we need from it

SInce Ester C is drawn out over a longer period of time, isnt it more therapetic to take with high Vit C fods like Kiwis instead of only eating the food with ni supplement

In other words, do you think that high quality nutrients from quality supplements are just a scam or do you think that if I can get Ester C at half price ( 600 mg ) , then I should go for it.

If I have parasites from visiting overseas, and if I can find Oil of Oregano at half price, should I go for it ?

Is supplementing with high quality vitmains and supplements a valuable thing to do or is it just playing on peoples fears ?

  • Where can I get the email of teachers in World Religions in case they want to invite me as a guest speaker?

I live in Quebec and travel to the Maratime and Ontario provinces each year.

35 years ago, I was trained as a brahmacari Vaisnava monk in the Hare Krsna movement.

I have helped many kids to give up drug and alcohol addiction through meditation , yoga and prayer.

I was ordained as a Hindu minister a year later and have regular classes that I speak in in Montreal to provide an introduction to dispel myths and misconceptions on HInduism, but I would like to expand the number of classes I am giving

Some schools colleges and universities offer a World religions course but not all of them.

I tried to google "World religions in eastern Canada" and it only gives general information on the need for religion in the school system, but nothing specific or personal like hwo is eaching waht and where or how to contact them

Perhaps you have suggestions on how to do a better search at Google ?

  • How to get rid of mildew in the air in a humid basement apartment ?

Im a bit of a health freak and Im wondering what Im doing to my health by breathing in mildewy air ?

What's the best way to get mildew out of the air in a damp basement apartment?

How to get rid of mildew and excess humidity in a basement apartment by a damp forest ?

I live in this 3.5 room apartment beside a forest in Rawdon Quebec. Its being raining a lot. I can smell the mildew when I go into the city for a few days and return. My landlord gave me a dehumidifier, but I have yet to use it. I leave all the window screens open when I am here, and any mildew odor seems to go, however the forest area keeps things very humid

Im concerned about breathing in mildew, as its probably not good for the lungs or health. I also have an air purifier that puts out ozone. Would it be better to use one machine or the other, or both ? I think I also need to take a lot of my things out of boxes, and put them into sealed plastic storage containers ? I never finished unpacking all my things yet from moving in here a few months ago, so there are still several cardboard boxes

Once I get all the boxes emptied out, I can wash the wall which is closest to where the mildew is. Im in a semi basement, and on the side of this quadraplex, there is a driveway and a big field of grass beside that, Im a few feet under ground on the side, but street level in the front where there is no mildew problem. I also dont want to wreck any books. Im just not sure how to best deal with this problem, as I never had it before. I live up a mountain beside a forest, with a river running by a few hundred yards away, and a lake at the bottom of the mountain, so lots of humidity, but a cooling relief from the city,

If I start using the dehumidifier, should I leave it on when Im gone into the city for a day or two ? Ive never used one before

    Thx much for your suggestions
