"All that is gold does not glitter, not all those who wander are lost; the old that is strong does not wither, deep roots are not reached by the frost. From the ashes a fire shall be woken, a light from the shadows shall spring..." ~JRR Tolkien

  • Whats so complicated about it? - Rate my poem?

Whats so complicated about love anyways?

    She wants a Pony

    She wants a diamond Ring

She wants a seat on the city council

    She wants more money

    She wants more things

She wants checks that wont bounce till

    Nothing matters anymore

    He wants a boat

    He wants a promotion

    He wants peers to Supervise

    He wants expensive coats

    He wants wheels in motion

He wants fire in her eyes

    Does anything matter anymore?

Would it hurt to smile at a tired crack head?

Would it harm anyone to choose love instead?

Why must man always judge and delight

    in rationalization, blame vampires bite...

Can anyone change the world anymore?

Or is she just a consumer capitalist whore?

Is there anything left to save?

The road to destruction each man doth pave

And yet where there is one, there may be two

    Perhaps just me

    Perhaps just you

Mercy is born of compassion and favor

The human condition we all must savor

    This moment....short and sweet

Eventually our savior we all must meet

If it were a marathon in which we all hold hands

Beside us each seed planted firmly stands

Would you count a few, or none at all

Would you slump forward, or stand tall?

Lets say you don't think God is there...

Would you to Buddha have something to share?

Love is a bridge where we all can meet

A fruit by which we all could eat

What is so complicated about Love anyways?

We could use a little more now-a-days...

  • Would you say Dr Seuss was a Poet....?

or a Storyteller, or a Writer, or all three?

Or do you think he was something else all together?

I adore the Dr Seuss books and read them to my children often....there is so much MEANING under the surface!

  • Can you find Something New?

    A readers critique?

    New Days

    Once Longing for Unattainable

    Now just a Fable

    Eternal in a Tear

    Infatuated

    Temporarily Sated

    Moment without Fear

    Realize

    Euphoria Dies

    Dreams Disappear

    Dysfunction remains

    Labor pains

    Transformation

    Re-creation

    Desperation fades

    Sojourner barters

    Destiny trades

    Wandering charters

    New Days

  • How Often - A Poem - Will You Read it and Comment Please?

    How Often

How often have I sat in this place?

on this hilltop, overlooking the land below

    like a banshee, silently wailing.

My heart cries over the mountain

and happiness is my friend, never far from me

    though never near me here.

How often have I missed your face?

    An icon, An idol

    ingrained in my existence.

    Broken empires rebuild again

    with new names and rulers

but you are the king of my heart

holding a power over me while we are apart.

How often shall I sing your praises?

    For all time, in ecstasy.

Waiting for your hand to touch me

as your words have filled me

even from your far off land

    even despite times shifting sand.

    Moonlit Forest

  • Dawn at the Humble Tower - A Poem - you like?

My sleepy eyes we reluctant to greet the day today

My body stretched and my muscles protested

The house was cool and my skin goose pimpled

And dawn gently washed away the night with hues of grey

Out the small window the tree skeletons posed and stood guard

My heart lifted up as a deer carefully picked his way through my yard

The fan in the bathroom buzzed out all other sound

But a wonderment of the glory of the day in me began to abound

The warm cloth refreshed my face and heightened my senses

Minty Breath and freshly combed hair made my visage fair

New shoes of black and white made dressing less of a Plight

A touch of red lipstick and mascara made me look just right

Now Master Sun has come to Paint the Day

The Michelangelo of the heavens creating a new display

Letting the colors begin soft and pastel, slowly growing bright

Further Exorcising the memory of dark Night

Feeling a kinship with Alice from the story

Because I have gone through my own looking glass from glory to glory

Nostalgia at the one that made me bigger, and the one that made me small

Gladness that one made me do nothing at all

Ready to leave my castle, my humble tower

I sneak into her room and kiss her, still asleep at such an early hour

One more kiss for my husband, snoring, yet handsome and strong

Then off I go to town, noise, cars, work, schedules, and the general throng

  • April Insomnia - A poem - Do you see?

    April Insomnia

    Whispers of Memories

    Pull the present from me

    Emotions like conflicting waves collide

    Shattering into billions of droplets

Like those tears from my eyes

I cant remember you completely anymore

    But I still Love you

    Irrationally

    Despite myself

    and you

    Here in this place

    before Death and Heaven

    or Perhaps Death and Hell

I am in wonder at the strange twists of fate

    that leave me afraid

My fear is tidal and forceful

    And I must swallow it

    And press on Faithful

That it is not my will be done

  • Into Where I am - Poem Critique Please?

(I wrote this ...going for less words that say more.) :-)

    Into Where I Am

    Twilight Eyes

    Bravely analyze the Abyss

    Riddles and Phraseology

    Designed to create a Labyrinth

    Or challenge

    Dare Ye!

    See into my Soul

    Perhaps the mysts

    Lined with Hidden things

    Impersonating the Gates of Avalon

    Cover Doorways

    A Passage

    Not Well Traveled

    A moss covered

    Stone Corridor

    Into a beautiful Land

    A Dwelling Place

    For that Which is Really

    Me

  • One more for the road, and thank you for your encouraging and honest critique?

(I am so pleasantly surprised by the genius and authenticity of the people in this category. I find I am as hungry for criticism as for praise. What a wonderful hidden place!) :-) Here is one more before I go to feed the baby...

    The Summer River

Under the cobalt oppression of the sky

I feel the heat pierce my skin

and erode away my precious oils and moisture

White light contradicts sharply with metallic dark

as the ever changing water of the river runs on

through a channel carved by God

The cold depths hide life, and death, and treasure

    and lost things

    also stealing from my strength

My mouth makes shapes of pleasure

    laughter and sarcasm

    my tongue betraying my thirst

The day wanes slowly like the moon

and I drift idol in mock thrill

over waves of heat and water

Beauty like that of the dreams of others

rises high and rough, masterfully created

Like a post card, all around me

  • Small Praise - One more poem I wrote, waddya think?

(I don't know if I am a poet, but I like to write sometimes and I hardly ever share my work. I must be feeling brave today. Or reckless. lol)

    Small Praise

    Every word and phrase

    that has come

    from the lips of God

can be used in my many

    marvels in tribute to you

    I become a poet

when I let my mind focus on you

It is great and I am well favored

    your Life intertwined with mine

I curse this world and all its darkness

with vows to sheild you from its evil

    and betraying nature

I do not want you to fall

    or become disillusioned

I wish to incubate your faith

as a champion in your honor

    Maybe I shelter you

    please forgive me

    perhaps it is only because

for me there was no shelter

  • I wrote a poem for my daughter, what do you think?

(This category is new to me, but I am diggin it...it makes me feel....good.)

The Blessing of this Day Overcomes Me

And if it is the last day before eternity

I have had the greatest joy

    Each moment like a gift

to be held on high; treasured

I sing songs for your pleasure in the evening

and my spirits raise to new heights

as your eyes are heavy lidded and soon close

Amazement at the wonder of your Love

    Fills my heart

    and I burst with warmth

Worries of the day cannot quench this fire

My soul confirms that such things

    shall pass away

But I am convinced that I shall know you

    in heaven

Such meaning have you given to this life

Such light have you caused to shine

even into the darkest regions of my heart

I am so Thankful to be your Mother

You honor me, my Lovely Daughter
