  • Need anime hat ideas for upcoming Con. Time to brainstorm!?

There is a convention I want to sell my hats at. It's all about J-Culture and anime. I need to expand my line out of Marvel and DC to get through the approval process. I have watched anime, I have Googled anime, and I have looked at other hat makers that claim to do anime. I am having trouble finding good characters to make into hats. So many of them have 'ordinary' humans. On my shortlist I have:

    Tortoro

    Domo-Kun

    Moogle

    Tony Tony Chopper

    Prinny

    Mega-Man

    Sergeant Frog

    and Pokemon in general

    Who am I missing? Thanks!

  • What are some non-wearable crochet items you like?

I crochet - more specifically amigurumi.

I've been selected to be in a juried show for the category of non-wearable fiber art. This is a small selection of what I actually create and have in shows. I've been trying to expand my selections but am receiving little feedback on them so I don't think they are my best bets.

Here's a list of items I'm interested in creating but I don't know if they'd be considered wearable. I can't do wearable items, just non-wearable.

-Water bottle holders with shoulder straps

-Wallets with carabiners (so you can have on a belt loop)

I've called the coordinators but all I got was "...produce in non-wearable fiber art category...". So, crafters, I'd appreciate some help.

If you know of something I missed that would be great items for a craft show, let me know that too.

here's my photo album for you to get a sense of what I've done:

  • temporary soundproofing for summer?

My husband works nights and is having trouble staying asleep now that our child is out of school. And she is having trouble keeping a "library" voice all day. I'm thinking of hanging blankets up to deaden the noise. But I'm not sure which side of the wall to hang it on: in the bedroom or living room (we live in 4-square style home). Cost is an issue here. I'd only do this if it's cheaper than sending her to summer camp.

So the questions are: Which side of the wall? And is there a better solution that will last 3 months?

  • What's wrong with this Neon Tetra?

We've had him for a year. He's about 1.25" long. His colors look vibrant. There's no loss of scales nor are there any growths. I redid the aquarium on the first. Good rinsing, no detergent. I used Stress Zyme and a clarifier, we have well water so no worry about chlorine. We had two fish at that time. The neon and a red (glow?) danio. After three days, I purchased another neon and another danio. Soon afterward, I noticed the red danio hiding all the time and his belly started sinking in. I thought that he would work himself out because he looked fine otherwise. Last night he died. Today, the neon started hiding. I've found him at the back of the aquarium staring at the bubble stone. I fed the fish and the new ones ate well but he refused to eat. I finally got him to move but he was lethargic. The new neon, which is very small, nipped at his fins and he swam back to the back. I did notice on the new one that it's belly is rounder than his. Tried to figure out if it was a she with eggs. Still not sure.

Other info: 5 gallon tank with gravity filtration system. Am going to exchange about 1/2 the water tomorrow. The two new fish appear to be healthy.

    What else can I do?

  • Windows 7 and the TV?

I've seen the commercial hype about getting the TV to work with the computer. I've used S-Video to view Hulu etc. with previous Windows versions. Is there any real difference from what I've done and what they are marketing? Also, is there a wireless way to connect them? Really interested if there is a better way of doing this. I rely on internet TV and Netflix as I live in the sticks and too cheap to have satellite.

  • Save a purchased movie through XBox onto disc?

    Hey,

How can I move movies purchased through Zune from the XBox to a disc? Right now the system only shows the internal hard drive. I can watch it but I like to be able to put it on disc so it can travel with me when needed. Is it easier for me to go to Zune on the computer and burn it with Nero?

  • XBox 360 game for husband for Christmas?

I've no idea what to get him.

He's played the Halo download once through and never went back to it (not on Live).

Same with Call of Duty 3 (not on Live).

He loves Battlefield 1943 but hates that there's not more cooperation and team playing.

He has played Viva Pinata nonstop for weeks now.

So, I either need a game that had no true ending or a never the same game twice type or a Live game that has more active communication.

So, gamers, give me your opinion, please.

  • School is withholding school pictures of my daughter?

The PTA asked for payment of the photos prior to picture day. I checked with Lifetouch who are processing the photos and they said I can order anytime during a 11 month period after the photo were taken. I wanted to check the pictures for toothy grins and open eyes, you know?

I've tried to order from Lifetouch but I've got a restriction on the account because I didn't want to support the PTA and pay their higher prices. Lifetouch has been uncooperative. I can't even get a supervisor on the phone to explain to me why this is happening.

I've contacted PTA abut they have not responded to me yet.

Seems to me that there is a legal issue here. I signed the form at the beginning of school saying that my daughter's likeness could not be photographed. Now they've got her picture and plan to put it in the yearly directory and I have no say. They have her pictures and are holding them hostage to raise their funding.

I'm sorry, I don't like the PTA. They have not made a friend of me. And they are keeping property that does not belong to them as far as I'm concerned.

Any legal help in this matter would be appreciated.

  • One Xbox, 2 TVs, can I connect all together?

I'm too cheap to buy a 2nd XBox. I want to be able to watch Netflix in one room and be able to play games on a TV on the other side of the wall in another room. Can I piggyback the 2nd TV? I don't need them to operate separately. In fact, having both TVs showing the same thing is just fine with me.

Just don't know what I need to purchase to make it work. I'd hope it be more cost effective than having a 2nd console with an additional XBox Live Gold account. I have no problem drilling a hole through the wall for a cable to connect. Wireless is fine too. Can you help me with my shopping list?

  • Coffee percolator makes hot water but no coffee?

I have a Melitta bullet shaped percolator. Recently, it's been acting wacky. It makes the sound and appears to make coffee. Then when it's poured, it's either tea-like or water-clear. The grounds are mostly dry. It acted up twice last week and again today. There are days in between that it works fine. I've checked the basket and it's clean and clear. Not sure where to look next.

  • 1970's Sci Fi Movie made from Novel?

I remember seeing a movie sometime in the late 70's/early 80's. A man from our time travels to the future. In the future, children are all done in test tubes and everyone acts like drones. He in the end lives in a house on the coast and is considered a side-show oddity with visitors coming to see man in his natural settings. Any ideas what book/movie this might be?

  • Surgery choices for Intraductal Papilloma?

I know what it is. My mamogram was 'good' today. My surgeon appt is next week. If the mamo was 'good' then I take that as they can't see the problem. If they can't see the problem does that mean a needle biopsy is out of the question? I am trying to read up on this as much as possible as far a percentages, frequencies, etc. Also I was checking the stereotactic biopsy info online and it refers to a interventional radiologist playing a role. Do these professionals work with a surgical group?

  • Pattern for Crocs strap made from ribbon?

I was in a high dollar kids shoe store recently and they had elastic straps covered in grosgrain ribbons to replace the std Croc ankle straps (for way too much $$). Any ideas on getting a pattern to make or a chain store that is more economical? Payless has nothing. Neither does Target.

  • Subject of cover letter?

    Hi,

I have been at SAHM for the last 4 years. Love it but I need to go back to work to keep food on the table. I've Prior to motherhood I worked 5 years with a company in a small clique - sign supplies. And they and their competitors have no openings right now.

The jist of what I'm looking for is someplace close to home (10 miles or less) doing anything but retail (need business hours to correlate with daycare). I have 17 years experience doing office work. I can be a bookkeeper or AE, or AA, or CSE and really don't care what I do as long as the location and hours fit. How can I write a cover letter that says I'm willing to do a job that I'm overqualified for? And how much do I say about my reasons? (Daycare location being #1 and gas prices being #2.)

Do you have a sentence I can springboard from to get started?

  • Dreamweaver CS3, Flash and Shockwave?

Website was created professionally using DW CS3. I am adding info to site using same program. Have marketing videos available to add. They are .swf, .flv,. avi, and .mov. I downloaded into images folder, used the existing Media:Flash button to insert. But all I see is a big blank area.

Boss bought this on DVD which my computer doesn't take. Finally got it loaded with some files missing. Said he can load more if I have trouble.

Before I approach him, is there something I'm not doing or something I should look at? I don't know a thing about code. Never took a class (background is in Photoshop). Also the company that created this site has put us on the backburner so I don't get quick responses from them.

    I just need direction.

    Thanks.

  • Can you overdevelop your PC muscle, guys?

Men, is it possible to overdevelop your PC muscle to the point that it would hinder orgasm? I found the proper name, Anorgasmia, but it doesn't talk about this link. I'm trying to convince a friend that he needs to see a Dr. but he is in denial (as far as I can tell).

  • Job interview in muggy NC?

I have an job interview, yeah! I've been a SAHM for the last three years and before then I could wear jeans to work. I'm in NC where it's easily above 80* by 10:00. Do I need to wear pantyhose? or can I get by without? All my friends don't wear hose to stay comfortable, but I want to make the right impression. I know I can wear them 'to be safe' but would that come across as stuffy in a business casual environment.
