  • $8,000 electric bill??

My husband had a small business. He closed it a few weeks ago. Today we got his final electric bill. $8,000!!!! The bill had been running around $200 a month. We don't believe this was a meter reading error, as I think the reader would have noticed something was wrong immediately. This bill covers about 6 weeks of service. My question is...could a neigboring business be stealing electricity from our business's meter? What other things could explain such a huge bill? I don't think it's possible, even if every light and appliance were left on 24 hours a day for those 6 weeks, that the bill could have been run up that high!

  • Propane central heater won't stay lit?

This is our first fall/winter with gas heat. We've lit the pilot light on the central heat twice. Both times we waited about 20 minutes and then turned it on at the thermostat. The ....I guess they're called "burners".... lit and burned for a few minutes. Then almost immediately when the blower came on they all went out, including the pilot light. Same situation both times. Is it something we're doing wrong, or should we call the gas company?

  • Is there something wrong with a church who wastes money that should be used for God?

When people put their money into an offering plate, that money should be used for God right? Then what's the deal with these churches using the money to buy $10,000 red carpet, chandeliers, expensive sound systems, and other stuff that has nothing to do with God's work? Of course the church's bills have to be paid. It should look nice and clean. But it shouldn't look like the Ritz-Carlton! That money could be better spent feeding many many hungry people, spreading God's love, buying blankets for the homeless, and many other ways. THAT's God's work, not buying things to impress other churches, right?

We have one church here that owns an entire city block of buildings. They have TV ads saying they have a place for YOU, they're all doctors and lawyers, and rich people, and the pastor won't even speak to a person he knows if they're not "good" enough. This doesn't seem very Christian to me and it makes me sick the way people give money that should be used for God.It's too common.

  • Why do Christians follow some OT laws and not others?

I mean, we observe 9 of the Ten Commandments but most Christians do not observe the Sabbath. We observe some of the other laws, like not having sexual relations with others of the same gender, and not having relations with animals or relatives. There are many others as well that we observe. But why do we pick and choose which ones are most convenient for us? Most Christians eat pork, shellfish, and other forbidden foods and never think twice about it.

Of course the sacrificial regulations were done away with because of Jesus's death. But what about the laws that have nothing to do with sacrifice? What about the Holy days we've replaced with pagan holidays?

So somebody who knows please tell me why we pick which laws we're going to obey, and forget about the ones that don't suit us or our lifestyles? And we DO still obey some laws, or else we'd all run around killing and raping all the time! If it's only because these things are illegal, why should they be if God approves them now?
