Rough running 2001 Civic 1.7 motor.?
Why would my 2001 Civic run rough all of a sudden? Car has 110K on it but it also has new plugs. So far 2 different scanners show nothing wrong. Where should I look. One coil pack was replaced 2 years ago, but the scan showed it to be bad,
2 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs5 years agoHow do I get the smell of stale air out of my dash vents?
My summer car has had the smell of stale air whenever I turn on the fan motor regardless of the a/c on or off. I don't see anything inside the air box located under the windshield and I'm pretty sure there are no dead animals in it! If I spray Febreze into the air box, it smells nice for a week and then the stale air returns. All ideas appreciated.
3 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs5 years agoJust what good is the economy button on my 2014 Civic EX?
On a trip to Erie, PA with the economy button on, the car got 44 mpg. I put a 2 bike rack on a trailer hitch and the same ride moved the mileage down to 30! Hard to believe the bikes caused that much turbulance? There was maybe an extra 40 pounds pf luggage in the trunk, but nothing else changed, My 2001 Civic LX always got over 30 mpg on trips with 3 bikes on the trunk! What gives?
1 AnswerHonda6 years agoTrying to figure out why my Civic is not running smooth at idle.?
My 2001 Civic is running a little off when at idle and I cannot locate the problem. I changed out the top engine mount that was leaking and that did help a bit, but something is still keeping it from being a smooth idle. It almost feels like a plug is misfiring if you know what I mean. As soon as the car gets to maybe 1000 rpm it's fine. There are no check engines lights or codes to check so that kind of puts me at a standstill. My outside guess is maybe an IAC but before I spend a few hundred bucks, I would have to be 100% sure, and like I said, there are no 'check engine lights' on and plugging in my scanner shows nothing.
Any ideas would be great! Thanks again.
1 AnswerHonda6 years agoAny idea why my 2001 Civic has a slight shake in the steering wheel?
5 AnswersHonda6 years agoLooking for a good short wave radio for less than $200 and need advice?
I am currently using an old Trans Oceanic radio and built a Knight Kit one in the 1960's but I can't get it to work for some reason. What is a good brand to buy and where as well would be appreciated. Radio Shack has no idea and if you remember stores like Olson's, Lafayette, and Allied, well, they're gone!
Thanks again.
3 AnswersOther - Electronics7 years agoWhy am I getting a loud low hum across the 4-9 kilohertz band?
I am using a Zenith Tran Oceanic short wave radio and regardless of antenna, I am getting a horrible buzzing noise across the 4-9 kilohertz band. It is drowning out anything I am trying to listen to. Anyone with a radio having the same trouble?
1 AnswerOther - Electronics7 years agoMy 2001 Civic has a shake in the wheel around 35-40mph.?
So far I have checked the following: Wheels all rebalanced, new 1/2 shafts both sides, new lower ball joints and steering rods, new Cat convertor. I needed that anyway, but still can't figure out the shake! We originally blamed it on possible cupping of tires, but I now have my 4 snows on the car and it's still doing it. The trans was rebuilt last December but the shaking started late last summer so I'm not thinking it's a trans or motor mount. Other than that, the car is smooth after 40mph and is no problem. Car has 102K on it and I bought it new so I know it has never been hit. Ideas anyone?
6 AnswersHonda7 years agoWhat size speakers are in a 2001 Honda Civic 4dr LX?
I had the rear speakers replaced but now the front are buzzing! I'm pretty sure the shop said they are the same size. but it seems 2 dr and 4 dr cars are different. My 4 dr car has 6 1/4" round in the rear where 2dr cars have 6x9". Need information on the front door ones and if there are clearance problems to look at.
6 AnswersHonda8 years agoLooking for a reason why my 2001 Civic jumps RPM's between 2nd and 3rd gear?
I have a 2001 Civic w/95K miles on it. The trans fluid was changed at 45K and now at 95K. The trans. has a way of sliding the rpms about 3-400 over where they should be between the 2nd to 3rd gear shift, and the 3rd to overdrive shift. I had Amsoil fluid changed in it last month without any success. The tranny shop said the problem was an electronic problem in the fuse box under the hood. The part is all of $32 at the dealer and after it was installed, it really didn't fix anything. The car was tested with a electronic monitor and all it showed was the item replaced. Not sure where else to look. Ideas?
5 AnswersHonda8 years agoWhy does my washer smell like sewer gas?
When I open the washer, I get the smell of sewer gas. I keep the lid partially opened since it is a front loader. All my wash tub traps and bathroom traps have water in them. I even had the drain pipe cleaned out from the roof to the sewer with little luck. Any ideas?

5 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs9 years agoAt what point should I replace the timing belt in my 2000 Prelude with 24K miles on it?
I just bought the car and even though it is low mileage, I don't know the condition of the belt. I'm not even sure if the dual overhead cam motor as one! Any ideas would help. Thanks.
5 AnswersHonda9 years agoShould I replace the timing belt in my 2000 Prelude?
I just bought the car today and it only has 24,000 miles on it! I am more worried about the thing drying out as opposed to the actual mileage since it should be good for 80K like my Civic. Does anyone know if time or anything screws this thing up like mileage since it's a $500 job here in town.
3 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs9 years agoLooking for a site to sell 4 very good used snow tires here in Buffalo, NY. Ideas?
I have the tires on Craigslist but am getting little action as well as people asking me what size they are, and the size is listed in the title! Anyway, anyone have a good site I could list these on that might help?
1 AnswerBuying & Selling9 years agoLooking for a 2002-2004 RSX here in Buffalo that might be a southern car?
I'm looking for a nice summer ride and the car I buy cannot have any winter exposure to it. My last 2002 RSX was from Virginia and never seen salt or snow, so that's what I'm looking for again. Price will depend on year, model, and color, (no silver or reds.) Might be interested in a stick, but prefer the automatic. Send me pics, prices and locations to my e mail and I will get back to you with the same day. Copies of Carfax are welcome! Thanks.
1 AnswerAcura9 years agoCan overfilling a car a/c unit damage anything?
I have a 2001 Civic and the air works well, but when I added about 1/2 can of freon, the compressor started short cycling, kicking on and off every 5-7 seconds. I bled out the excess I guess, but now I have no idea if I wrecked anything, It seems to work now, but I'm thinking I should take it somewhere and done right? Any ideas? Thanks.

2 AnswersYouTube1 decade agoHow do you kill the VSA in a 2004 Acura TSX?
My Acura has this switch in the dash that seems to be working, but the problem is that when the car is stuck in anything, you can't rock it back and forth since the VSA (whatever that is), kicks in and kills the motor to almost nothing. There has to be a way to override this lousy thing. Turning the switch on and off doesn't seem to work. Help!
3 AnswersAcura1 decade agoSteering problems with my daughters car.?
I have a 2004 TSX and when you make any type of turn, the car wants to snap back to center as in it wants to go straight all the time! I took it to the dealer, and they drove it and felt nothing wrong. I made the service adviser drive it and she felt what I said, so we went back and drove a 2005 TSX and it did pretty much the same. I have a 2002 RSX and it doesn't do anything of the sort. You steer the car, and when you want to straighten it out, you turn the wheel back. The TSX seems to have a mind of its own. Anyone else have the same problem or a solution? I wanted to flush out the power steering fluid and replace it, and the dealer said don't bother. The car only has about 40K on it. I am posting this in the Honda site since it probably has the same components as an Acura. What should we be looking for?
