I've just about retired from Y!A; I've got most the answers that I needed. For the things I'm not yet familiar with, I may make a return here once in a while. Don't mind me if I go around acting goofy or start posting nonsense. Y!A can get pretty boring at times...
Spiritually wondering: is atheism NOT a religion?
Just wondering...
I mean, I've been believing it for so long and I've gone to every cookie-and-spaghetti seminar so far. You mean to tell me that atheism is not a religion?! What have I been doing for the past 5 years?

Just wondering...
I know that a bicycle rider is a "cyclist", and a motorcycle or motorbike rider is a "biker", but I don't know the name for someone who rides a motor scooter. Is there a specific name, or are they stuck with the "biker" group?

Just wondering...
The other day I was at a barbeque restaurant and ordered some steak with a corncob on the side. The corncob was so easy to eat and so convenient, but how does it know when to do that? Is this some evolutionary trait, or is this the work of an intelligent designer?

You know when you see a zombie and it moans and groans and limps in an awkward fashion and people get an instinctive feeling to go for their brains with a bludgeoning stick. Well how does it know when to do that? Is this the work of an almighty creator, or do zombies have free will?

Just wondering...
You know when you see the news and one measly article sparks an Internet frenzy greater than all the other stories combined. Well how does it know when to do that? Is this the work of a divine being, or is free will involved? Or is there a more sinister reason behind this?

We haven't had bombing drills since the Cold War and with the upcoming raising of the "terror alert level", we might as well go back to learn the basics. So are we ready for a drill? If yes, when is it? If no, then will there be consequences?
4 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoIf sunlight is red and moonlight is just reflected sunlight, then why isn't moonlight red?
Just wondering...
I understand that moonlight looks reddish on the horizon and during lunar eclipses, but moonlight is primarily blueish most of the time. Why is that so? Does it have anything to do with the atmosphere or the specific light waves that are reflected by the moon?
2 AnswersTrivia1 decade agoCan God see Himself? If no, then how can He be sure that He exists?
Just wondering...
It is said that no man can see God and live. Since God is also a man (by gender preference), can He see Himself? If yes, then God definitely has an image. If no, then how can God be sure that He exists?
7 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoIf God is omnipresent, then does He exist in the future? If yes, then why doesn't He know the future?
Just wondering...
It is said that God is omnipresent, which means that He is anywhere and everywhere. If this is true, then God must also exist everywhere in time. Time includes the near and distant pasts, the present, and the near and distant futures. Since there is only one God, then He should know everything in the future because He is omnipresent and exists in the past and future at the same time.
So here's question 01: If God is omnipresent, then does He exist in the future?
If you answer no, then God is not 100% omnipresent. If you answer yes, then continue to the next paragraph.
God exists everywhere in time, which means that He should know everything about the past and future regardless of how it changes because He should be there to see it happen. When atheists make the claim that God is not omniscient because He cannot see the future, Christians say that foresight is not a characteristic of omniscience. However, some people say that God cannot see the future, which would be false because if God is omnipresent, then He exists in the future and knows of what is to come.
Question 02: If God is in the future, then does He know the future? If you answer yes, then that coincides with God having omniscience and being able to tell the future. If you answer no, then why doesn't He know the future?
15 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWhat's the difference between indoctrination and conditioning?

One thing I recently learned from my psychology class is that the process of conditioning sounds very similar to the process of indoctrination. I know the similarities between the two, but what are the differences?
4 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWhat's the difference between a Christian and a "good" Christian?
Just wondering...
According to a small section of "facts" in the back of my Bible, it says that God is allowed to deny certain acts of good. It then directed me to the following verses for reference:
"Not everyone saying to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter into the kingdom of the heavens, but the one doing the will of my Father who is in the heavens will...Many will say to me in that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophecy in your name, and expel demons in your name, and perform many powerful works in your name?'...And yet then I will confess to them: I never knew you! Get away from me, you workers of lawlessness." _Matthew 7:21-23
Now the apparently fake good people in question sound like they could very well be Christians, or anyone who believes in God.
If someone does good acts in the name of God and is denied entrance into heaven for not being good, then what's the difference between a Christian and a "good" Christian?

1 AnswerTrivia1 decade agoIs it true that the Virgin Mary was never a virgin to begin with?
Just wondering...
I was looking at this interesting section in the back of the Bible that I have and it notifies the readers of some facts.
One of those facts stated in the Bible is that Mary was not a virgin. The evidence that the Bible provides is as follows:
1) She married Joseph (Mt 1:19, 20, 24, 25)
2) She had other children besides Jesus (Mt 13:55, 56; Lu 8:19-21)
Is this true or false?
18 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoSpiritually wondering: if mortals have souls and can die, then what does that make plants?
Just wondering...
Plants are living things, but we consider them to be soulless. So plants are just sorta there in the foreground living and such, but they're not "beings" either.
So if plants are not mortals, then we cannot call them "inanimate" because they can move, although very, very, very slowly; and we cannot call them "immortals" because they can die. So what do we call them?
