I'm really hoping to have some good conversations... absent of malice, truthful of ignorance, and intent on helping one another learn.

  • Why does God hate Al Lah; Why are Christians Gay?

HERE'S MY ACTUAL QUESTION; (asked ten minutes ago)and you're going to unwittingly help me make my point. (I hope)

Question: Why do most of us only answer Inflamatory Religious "questions"?

You'll notice that the questions on here which receive the most responses are the Inflamatory ones. Questions posted which are non-judgemental, or meerly inquisitive, receive relatively few responses.

Are we just here to fight?

ps: If I had asked, "why are christians gay" or "why does God hate Al Lah"... or anything similarly offensive; I bet you ten bucks I'd have received 50 responses.

  • Why don't we just admit that We choose to Hate; rather than blaming our hatred of others on God?

Rather than using our varied religions as an excuse to be hostile, offensive, and insulting... Why don't we just admit that we enjoy conflict, and want to hate one another.

It's self-evident, but we hide behind our religions rather than claiming individual credit for our ignorance & disdain of others (and their beliefs)

  • Are we following people who actually believe as we do?

Arguably, religions are divisive. "We're of one faith... You're not = We're separate from you". Even an apparently mild divide, like that between Catholicism & Protestantism, presents itself as a chasm over which war is conducted...

Worth consideration is, whether people of power are deliberately using our religious differences in order to pursue their personal & political agendas. Meaning, is it deliberately done in order to make use of our embrace of whichever religious ideology? Are they simply taking advantage of our religious ignorance in order to manipulate us into going along with a political aspiration? -- Or, are they (the ol' powers that be) as convoluted as we are... actually embracing the notion that their "all loving/all powerful God (any name will do)" directs them to behave antagonistically toward followers of varying belief sets?

Basically, are we following people who actually believe as 'we' do? Or are we being manipulated by people according to our beliefs? Given religions' record concerning warfare & general animosity; it's interesting to consider whether we're duped or dubious. It we could somehow discover that we've just been being duped... that would be The Mother of all Conspiracy Theories come to light. What do you think?

  • Does the premise of an Anti-Christ condemn us to failure?

Specifically, the idea that the anti-christ will seize power by "uniting the peoples of the world in peace"; only to rear his true intentions later & reveal his true, evil & malicious, self.

It seems to me, we've accepted a premise where we're doomed to continued conflict; if peace is accepted as the anti-christ's impliment of coming to power. If a good man shows up tomorrow and tries to bring peace to world, and then starts to succeed... he'll be "identified" as the anti-christ and all hell will break loose.

"We've" accepted a dynamic, in entertaining the idea of an anti-christ, that resigns us to conflict... such as we've enjoyed for thousands of years. A dynamic which suggests peace is the ultimate form of evil? It boggles my mind.

  • Shouldn't we abandon Jerusalem?

Given the violent history of, and the prevailing tensions over, Jerusalem; shouldn't we abandon the city & leave it vacant? It could be 'our' supreme sacrifice to God/Ah Lah... Since, at large, we don't behave ourselves in the City... give the city back to God, exclusively.

It would be like the Mother willing to give up her baby, rather than have the child split in half/divided; in the story of King Solomon.

Each of the world's religions has other, less controversial, locations on the map which hold religious significance. Mecca, Rome, etc. Jerusalem is more a focul point of tension, anger, and hostility than love, fellowship, and peace. Of our own doing, we behave in an un-godly manner where Jerusalem is concerned. So what do you think? Should we abandon Jerusalem, for God's sake... and ours?

  • Is there something other than Fear of Condemnation which might cause us to treat each other well?

Many religions/theologies include 'punishment' in their doctrine; suggesting that there may be no other motivation for treating each other well. i.e. "Murder someone=Eternal Damnation"

Can you suggest any mutually beneficial reason for treating one another/all things well... which wouldn't require (or include) retribution?
