11 AnswersOther - Cultures & Groups1 decade agoAre many people on YA only wanting to hear what they want to hear?
I have recently noticed that a couple of my answers have been removed or I have been blocked by participants in YA simply because they contained an element of 'hard truth'. For example, a recent question was asked by a 13 year old asking if she should run away from home as her parents wouldn't let her go out to the mall all day and spend her evenings on chatrooms. Part of my response was that she was being a stupid selfish little brat. Which she was. But no, I'm not allowed to say that. I also took issue with someone only wanting 'nice' answers - sorry, on a public q and a site you don't get to choose!!! So is YA being negatively affected by people who ONLY want people to offer them support for their own (often dumb) standpoints???
13 AnswersYahoo Answers1 decade agoAre Woolworths ripping us off in their 'sale'?
I just bought a number of DVD box sets at Woolies which were supposed to be 50% off. However, I did think the original marked price looked high. I have since seen the same boxed sets in Zavvi's sale at less than the Woolworth clearance price. Not only that, when removing the £35 'original' price sticker, I found a different sticker underneath finishing in a '2'. I therefore believe Woolworths have jacked up their 'original' price to squeeze a bit more out of 'reducing them by 50%'. Am I wrong in believing this is not legal?

5 AnswersNintendo Wii1 decade agoWill the FA consider Bryan Robson as next England manager?
I'm a Blades fan, and I'd like to see the back of Bryan 'Captain Marvel, Manager Hapless' Robson from Bramall Lane. Given that he is a) English and b) a rubbish manager, can we assume the FA will opt for the continuity afforded by another rubbish Englishman as the new manager???

8 AnswersFormula One1 decade agoMenezes case - a terrible verdict - what options do the police have now?
Livingstone, who was mayor when suicide bombers killed 52 people in London on July 7, 2005, condemned the verdict.
"As the law now stands based on this court case, an officer has got to have at the back of their mind ... the implications of this judgement in the sort of situation that might occur again," he said.
"I think this is disastrous.
"If an armed police officer believes they are in pursuit of a terrorist who might be a suicide bomber and they start making these sort of calculations based on this, how is this going to be seen? Am I going to be hauled off to court?
Such cases only took away the funding for more officers on the beat.
"At the end of the day mistakes are always going to happen in wars or situations like this," Livingstone said.
"The best you can do is to try and make the potential and the risk the minimum possible. But there will be mistakes
Once again, Ken Livingstone, butt of so many jokes, provides the voice of reason.

16 AnswersYahoo Answers1 decade agoThe people appalled by this sensationalist downgrade Christmas report are missing the bigger picture?
Surely UK Christmas has been meaningless for at least twenty years. It is now absolutely no more than a massive marketing opportunity for big business, the source of vast grief for the less well off under pressure from materialistic peers and offspring, and the most stressful time of the year for those who resist false jollity. And the whole ordeal commences earlier and earlier every year - this year the Xmas kick off was before hallowe'en! If Christmas was purely set aside as a time for simple relaxation and reflection with the family, without the hype, there would be no need to downgrade it. Anyone with me on this?

17 AnswersReality Television1 decade agoWhat is the best album of the last twelve months (since Sep 2007)?
One that reaffirms your faith in rock music as A Good Thing. I know it's pretty subjective, but I have a real favourite album for the first time in ages. One go each please, and 10 points go to the person who agrees with my choice (clue: a well known actor recently described the artist as his favourite band). In the entirely likely event that no-one does, then I'll pick from the best of the rest.
